I just got to this boss on the HD version. This is so fucking cool I cannot imagine how it must have been to play this game when it first released in 2004
It felt awful because you literally saw his cutscene play out before you fought him, and when you beat him again, and lord have mercy on you if you failed the fight after that, because then you were back to square one…but great memories honestly, and the beat was and remains a bop
This song + using Vishnu and Shiva is pretty hilarious because of their idle animations (they resemble like a dance) while seeing the giant disco ball of Kagutsuchi xD
FullmetalSonic260 There's actually a playthrough on yt of exactly that situation... Combined with Shiva and Vishnu's hilarious battle cries, it's even more glorious.
Devs: okay, so the final boss is this almighty aspect of God, with the power to end worlds and create new ones. When the player fights it, they are essentially fighting God. Please make a boss theme for this. Sound Design Team: well, CLEARLY, Alt Electro is the right choice here.
I see Kagatsuchi as an extension of God, the being meant to orchestrate and create the new world. You don't actually interact with SMT's version of God, YHVH, in Nocturne, except for a couple lines in the True Demon Ending.
Phi I mean, out of all the themes in Nocturne, this one and “Last Boss Battle After Transformation” make the most sense. You *are* fighting a disco ball, after all.
I guess? Amazing soundtrack but you're overselling it. There's nothing experimental about this theme. It's just EDM. Tracks like "Talk" or whatever I'll give you but not this
@@LuffyBlack tbh yeah, this one specifically isn't experimental haha. I kinda regret making this comment a while back, i probably meant more the whole ost anyhow. What i found experimental about this is how much it conflicts with the context of the fight and generally what you expect from a final jrpg boss theme
Here's hoping that this fight is made a bit more challenging in the remaster. It's the final boss of the game in most routes- it should be more than just "buff yourself up to max, nerf the boss to min, then just wail on him." Edit: well... at least we can meme on him sharing a VA with Sojiro.
EspurrsEyes42 Im guessing cause infinite light would pretty much be an insta one shot. Even on hard i was above lvl 99 and i only warcryx2 and he wiped my whole prty
@@ButterscotchPenguin Wait, you War Cry'd TWICE (his ATK is at Stage -4 since War Cry drops by 2 Stages) and he still wiped your whole party? How much health did everyone have?
EspurrsEyes42 I was using Shiva Metatron and Daisoujou. I believe shiva and metatron had about 850 or so and dai had about 650 my main character was at a little bit below max.
EspurrsEyes42 Rukukaja is a necessity on hard since bosses to pretty much 2x damage. I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to survive infinite light on hard if you don’t debuff him at the least.

The image Shin Megami Tensei uses in the background is an actual Pentagram sigil known as a tetragrammaton it's been used in a lot of Witchcraft practices too funny how rthe game uses Spells of Magic from real life myth and lore....
I doubt anyone will know what I'm talking about with this, but this song sounds eerily similar to the song in Captain Qwark Vid-Comic #5 (the final "secret" Vid-Comic) from Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal (which was released almost 2 years after this game). Perhaps there was some inspiration or a reference there, or is this just a coincidence?
I went in thinking this nerd gets access to dekunda and dekaja only on second phase, yet he always had them, but never used. Despite me hitting the limit on both buffs and debuffs. Didn't even get to cycle thru the 3 quotes he had. DIDN'T EVEN GRIND, LMAO. Pathetic.
