What a run it has been. I decided to do this little tribute because I will miss this band of crazies. Sure they are going on and creating a whole new campaign, but... it stings. Too soon to make any jokes even Scanlon and Grog would have a hard time with a wise crack. If you have not seen them in actions I will post a link to their site. Worth the watch. The WHOLE story is worth the watch. Matt Mercer is a God among DM's and deserves some kind of nerd trophy. He inspired me to be the best DM I can. To put passion into all my work, and to believe in myself and just have fun. I bid them all a very fond farewell. (this song, is my favorite fantasy song, Billy Boyd is an astounding singer but I just wanted to put my own flare to it. I hope you enjoyed.)

I’m imagining Keyleth raising Vex and Percy’s Great-Grandchildren after the final fall of Whitestone. “Miss Keyleth, how old are you?” “I lost count around 1000.” “Wowie! That’s really old!” A tear rolls down her cheek as she tucks the young half-elves under her cloak, the fires of Whitestone roaring in the distance as the gunshots of the city’s last defenders roar defiantly to the end. She flashes back to Vax’s death. Further. She watches Vecna sealed away forever. Further still. She watches Grog jump through the air, cleaving Umbrasyl’s skull in half. Even further. She watches herself, much younger in spirit, though similar in body, hand outstretched, disintegrating Sylas Briarwood with a sunbeam. Further than that. A group of ragtag adventures stand in the rain, ready to take on the dread emperor in his own dimension. “Yeah. I guess I am kinda old.”

Jacob Jankowski you can tell a true fan from the rest. (Which of course there is nothing wrong for the casual listener) but your words were very touching. Doing this cover and finding these images made me cry multiple times over people who were just characters. But for people like us we knew them like we know ourselves. They become a part of us. Natural 1 Yeah, your video really made me think about how Keyleth will be around for thousands of years after all the rest of Vox Machina have passed. In context, I thought about how America has only been around for less than 300 years, and how 2000 years ago, the Roman Empire was a thing. At some point, Keyleth will be that old. I’m not sure if it’s sad or inspiring, but she’ll likely be the last one to remember Vox Machina, all her friends and all the adventures they took.

Gandalf and Pippin along with a lot of soldiers had to retreat to the second level of the city, and were talking while orcs+trolls hammered on the doors. (Movie at least, it is a direct book quote so, can't remember exactly where).

Still can't watch that moment, and following moments with a dry eye, knowing what Sam was legitimately trying to save the world and his friend in real life, and fighting with one had behind his back, and doing it so well that nobody in the party even knew. Fitting that Scanlan had an absolute hero moment and he shined through the sacrifice!

actually Pike and scanlan are two different types of gnomes and...scanlan has a much longer life expectancy than pike...I'd say grog goes first then Percy, vex, pike, scanlan and eventually keyleth.

Every time i hear this song tears come within the first chords. Happened after The Hobbit and CR as well. I don't think there is a better song to pay tribute to anything or anyone that has finished or passed.

I feel like I just visited a wake...heh in clueding memories of vax shaving half of grog's new beard...the whole party singing along with scanlan every time he gave inspiration. Keyleth just...trying her best as a leader. Pike's epic angel leap to battle at the revolution of Whitestone...trinket and the brieded bows.

The last episode was so sad! I haven’t even seen any of the other Vox Machina streams and I was tearing up. It’s like a part of their lives ended that day. This thing they’d been doing for five years was ending and you could tell it impacted them.

I fell off season 1 after the end of the Conclave Arc, so I wasn't there to see the final battle. But watching this and later the final goodbye...got to me. I didn't know the context, but it hurt. These characters meant so much to me. I remember laughing my ass off at Grog talking to Craven Edge, the emotional intensity of the Greystone Arc, the catharsis when Vax avenged his mother. If it wasn't for Critical Role I'd never have gotten into roleplaying, and by proxy never met my girlfriend. It felt like an end of a chapter in my life. It was hard to say goodbye. But I'm glad it happened. I'm a better person because of a bunch of voice actors playing D&D, and I can't thank them enough

Beautiful song and video! My life have a hole in it now. Vox Machina have been there to cheer you up for three full years. Even though I never met them they feel lika a family. It has been a fantastic journey, and I know the next campaign will be great. But the void left by not seeing Vox Machina every week will take some time to heal!

I love this. I started watching the streams kinda late and I didn't really think I could catch up. I watched Vax's death scene with some background on what has happened from where in the streams I was but it was still a punch to the gut for me. I was heartbroken by the last scene but I am looking forward to seeing what can be made by these amazing roleplayers in the second installment. These people are just so amazing at becoming their characters that I know the next installment will be as amazing and hopefully I'll be able to keep up this time.

This...this kind of music can bring down even the highest internal walls one might have. It is a reminder of not just why we care about family and friends, but is about what to fight for, if fight we must. As Samwise Gamgee once told a struggling Hobbit, "It's because there is some good, in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fightin' for." Vox Machina fought for the world, suffered pain and suffering along the way. Vax'ildan even famously asked at one point, "What are we doing?" Yet at the end of it all, when anything is truly worthwhile, it is never easy. This is why it is so hard to say goodbye to these fictional characters that we feel are as close as any family any of us have ever had -- because they remind us that despite the flaws we have, we can do great things in life, if only we try. And hopefully, along the way, the dice of the gods of Chaos fall our way, and grant us fortuna faveat fortibus, because we are semper fidelis.

I know I'm just finding this, but thank you from not shying away from including Tiberius/Orion in this a few times. While I know the situation and whatnot with him wasn't good, he was still an integral part of early Vox Machina and was a great character when those brilliant moments did happen. This was beautifully done.

Because you’re human. I truthfully believe music is what feelings sound like. That’s why I love to sing. I can even just remotely express a smidge of my love for the game and these amazing characters. They could have just messed around like so many others but they gave us an experience to remember. And mourn. No shame. Just do you.

I made my party so sad with this song. My character was mentally unstable and I wanted to leave the game to focus on other things, and I had my character look towards his son and say "take good care of her will you, fort is yours" while handing him a soul stone holding his younger sisters soul and put his helmet on his sons head " your 15 janto, it's time you see the world by your self without me" then my character left not to return.

Watching this again made me start thinking about how one day CR will end and these marvelous people will no long be the beacon that lights our way, I hope that when that day finally comes they pass the torch to a new cast, maybe the Critical Kids, all of the casts children who we know play dnd, it would be so nice to see, hopefully we get too

Which is a lot better then any of my bard songs (about 95% of them were made up on the spot and cringy, which kinda fit my bard honestly. But some of the songs... Prep for a sappy comment. You know, saying goodbye is hard. Obvious, right? But...maybe not so much most of the time. I admit, I only casually know these characters, through small clips and hearing my dnd group gush about their adventures and sorrows. Yet...they remind me how I try to live life. Always with a smile...even when you don't feel like smiling. When the whole world feels like it's crushing you. Even if they felt sad, or lost...they had each other. They had hope. They never stopped because they were afraid of what could happen. Of course it's a game, so why would they? But...it's a story too. A story any simple person could learn from. I know I learned that lesson, far earlier than I wanted to, but also when everyone around me needed me to. Namely, that the world can be sad and dark and scary...but light does shine. Hope will win, so long as you never _ever_ let it go. And you'll have to say goodbye one day, so make sure you live so that you won't regret having to say it. So that you don't think of all the things you should've done, or said. You just shed a tear for not being able to make any more memories, and for saying...your last goodbye.
