When Vax says "I'm going to go visit my mother", knowing Liam tragically lost his own mother during campaign one really hits hard. It's a line that makes the game these guys have been playing transcendent, binding Liam and Vax together and offering closure for both of them. For a brief moment, as Liam says those words, he and Vax become the same person. It's beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. Critical Role, man...

There's such finality in the tiny motion of Liam closing his character sheet folder.

Liam is such a dirty player... that goddamn druidcraft absolutely ruins me every single time

Grog's question, "Can I ask, are you afraid?" was one of the most poignant moments in this scene. Deep yet almost child-like.

When Marisha breaks further because she realized Vax took a level of Druid for Keyleth 😢

Damn, that was such pure poetry spoken by Vax speaking to his grieving twin. Vex: I feel like she's taking part of me away. Vax: I will bring it with me to remind me of you. 😭😭😭

Can anyone else see the pain on Liams face when Matt is talking about Vax’s mom. Can’t help but think that is partially Liams pain over the loss of his own mother. That gets me more than anything else :’(

It’s the juxtaposition of Laura as Vex saying, “I’m going to find you,” crying her eyes out as Sam lifts his mug that says, ‘Remember when we were cows?’ Comedy is 100% tragedy plus timing.

What gets to me, on the level of small touch’s that make Matt Mercer such a genius, is how he added “But it’s brighter for you.” Such a tiny little line that contributes so much.

"You blink...and it's just feathers" will never fail to bring a tear to my eyes and a shiver to my spine.

Imagine the pain we all will feel if/when this gets animated in their show on Amazon. God I love this scene.

When Liam held Laura I lost it, I still do every time. This is the magic that is Dungeons & Dragons when you really get into your characters, their stories, their feelings. Losing a loved one is never easy but to lose your twin, your best friend, the very essence of yourself, it broke me.

The part with the mother telling Vax she is proud, hurt so fucking much, when you think of the fact that Liam lost his mother at the beginning of this camp.

You don’t get this quality of acting in million dollar television series.

The thought that when all of Vox machina eventually passes they will meet Vaxildan one last time ;-;

“I will see you again. And I will tel your mother that you say hello” I HAVENT EVEN FULLY WATCHED VOX MACHINA BUT I AM S O B B I N G

When Matt spoke on Talks about how he came up with The Raven Queen story and the chosen of fate plot for Vax to help Liam with his grief, to bring some light to him when he was in a dark place, I was in floods of tears. It's incredibly touching, and it also goes to show the depth of love and trust in this found family, and how well they know each other. Not just that Matt would want to help so badly that he wrote it into the story, but also that he would know what and how to say it to help Liam. Dungeons and Dragons (and roleplaying in general) can be incredibly cathartic in exploring grief and trauma, and I don't think it gets nearly enough credit for that. People see it as a fun goof for nerds, and it certainly can be. But it can also be an intense method of self-examination and therapy.

I firmly believe that CR will never top this. This campaign was and will always be, in my eyes, the perfect campaign. M9 is fantastic, BH is delightful, but this one is the one that feels the most real. There will never be a more perfect end to a beautiful story. And I'll be here, coming back time after time, to relive the story that was so perfect it made me pick up DMing to see if I could tell a story half as good. Vox Machina is my perfect story.

I lost my Grandma about 3 months before I managed to finish this campaign. She was such a part of my life, that even my earliest memories still have her inserted into them, and I never really came to terms with loosing her. The moment I watch Liam close the book on Vax's life, I just broke down crying. It was like I needed to see the book closing on a character I cared about to realise how sad I was. I will forever be grateful to Liam for helping me overcome that grief.

Travis' joy at the druidcraft is so pure. If not for that, I would be broken completely, watching this

I'll never get over the sheer epic tragic beauty of this ending. A masterclass in RP and storytelling.

Its the taking a last level in druid to show how much keyleth meant to him that got me 😢😢😢

I have no words for the level of beautiful pain this brings me. If the animated series makes it to this moment, this will forever be immortalized as the greatest moment in entertainment history.

came back to watch this moment as curently season two of The Legend of Vox Machina is airing and Vaxs deal to save Vex has happened and are now seeing what that means but as someone who knows its just so heartbreaking I have watched this moment so many times as well as the ninth level counter spell and they always break my heart in a few years when if we get the end in animated form is going to be so sad and beautiful and knowing how difficult and hard that deal was for Liam at first and having this arc for Vax be healing for him just makes it mean so much more

They definitely had a big group hug once the cameras were off, these people spent 5 years going through the emotional wringer together telling the story of Vox Machina and these characters and experiences will stay with them forever. I know Matt hugged Marisha extra tight that night, DND draws more real emotion than any other form of entertainment

What really got me was the final closing of Vax's binder.

Dude the level of emotion behind this, I don't usually feel shit. But fucking hell I've actually got tears! Wtf, well done.

IMO, Liam is the GOAT of the critical role team. Campaign 1, 2, and 3 he may not be the "leader", but he's got the best role play.

Holy shit, the only connection I have to this is I watched season one of the animated show(and LOVED IT) and nothing more and even I'm in freaking tears.

Alllll I wanted was for either Vex or Vax to say, "do not go far from me." Then that woulda sealed it. Take a shot of depressi.

Ive only watched campaign 2 but this made me openly weep over my toast. What an incredible performance by all!!

Being a twin and watching this years ago it hits me so much every time I watch. I identify as Vax and would sacrifice anything for my brother and my friends. It tears me up inside. I might not like the Raven Queen because of this but damn the acting and honesty of this clip gets me every time.

I never even got the chance to watch a full episode of campaign one, but know the story mostly and everything. And you know they're so good at this because I absolutely bawl my eyes out whenever I watch this. And I'm not even someone who cries like ever. Holy crap Liam. Thank you.

Always expected Percy's reply to Vax's request to be more along the lines of "I accept your charge" rather than "Of course." That more formal response would have been very Percy. (I get why he said it the way he did - character and relationship growth)

im only on ep 55 but i had to see this scene its 2:30 am and i am desperately trying to cry quietly update: finished c1 a few weeks ago and i bawled for more than half the episode and 15 mins after

I hope when The Legend of VM reaches its final season, this should definitely be part of the final season.

I think it's no coincidence that two of the people who said "I don't accept this" ended up together. Percy and Vex, and likely Keyleth too, since she said it as well, if there is any mercy and justice in this cold world, would absolutely spend the rest of their days working to free Vax from this cruel contract.
