First NASCAR race I watched, wish it was still like this with cars that you could beat and bang with no issue on aerodynamics to an extent, NO chase, and just pure excitement and fun.
bigmrclean, I do agree with you on Jimmie and Chad. It's bullshit, but as for this with Jeff and Jeff, if they told Burton to back off, it was so he didn't ruin it for BOTH Jeffs, and wreck both of them. No way in hell was he just gonna let Jeff take the Winston Million as a christmas present, but NASCAR DID warn drivers about wrecking or holding up Jeff from winning the Million. Jeff Burton did all he could do that stayed in the clean driving zone, and Gordon wasn't being dirty either.
@skankuser...I've only been racing for 18 years and mechanicing for 11. Someone looking in from the outside who doesn't know racing and what goes on, on the "inside" would leave a comment like you just did. Jeff burton owned darlington for a while in that 99' car. I didn't say Jack roushe did..I said NASCAR did....and when you run this series you do what they say or you leave. They got what they wanted. Burton could've done what he wanted to with that car..man it was in another world.
Obviously you don't know what you're talking about. Jack Roush was one of the biggest Gordon haters during this time period, and he owned Burton's car. Why would he tell him to back off to give Gordon the win? He backed off because he didn't have position in the turn. It's hard to pass going into 1 and 2 like that. He was trying to get another run and hopefully have something for him in 3 and 4, as he did have the better car towards the end of the race.
Explain to me how that was dirty, especially when Jeff BURTON was the one who hit him first. Jeff was doing what he had to do, not give any room. You saw the same thing with Brian Vickers and Kyle Busch this year at Michigan.
this is the kind of racing NASCR is missing.... way too polite and absolutely no rubbin and racing.. if someone gets hit it's a huge slam in the back not a small nudge...
$10 says you were an Earnhardt fan, and if so, you have no business to be calling someone else a dirty racer. Earnhardt made a living off of running into other people.
