It's funny how Scar can be so scatterbrained that he misses the boogeyman-thing, mutters to himself loud enough for beans to hear, and then goes on to awkwardly try to push him into lava, but he can also be cunningly waiting for the moment to strike, and just wastes no thought killing the target in cold blood. Also Grian: I think he didn't kill me because he'd know I would hunt him to the end of the world if he made me red. Scar: I didn't remember the rules, wasn't sure if I could kill him.

There's really no easy way to track who killed someone if it's an environmental death. If a person dies within (I believe) 5 seconds of you attacking them, then it's counted as a kill for you in the game and will show our name in the message and on scoreboard objectives. So punching someone off a cliff "should" work since you attacked them recently, but I'm honestly not 100% sure I remember this fully.

It has to be registered as a player kill. Not in the Peace Love and Plants way that Mumbo Killsalot Jumbo does in Hermitcraft.

Wouldn't it work if they hit the person before the death though ? Just as when you fall into lava while you are evading a skeleton the chat death message reflect that. I assume the game register the hit as "They are fighting" for a few seconds and if you die from anything other than another player or mob during that time the game would probably think the death is directly correlated to the "fight"
