Grew up on a fram in North Dakota . In 1966 we had a three day storm , I remember having to go out to milk , feeding stock cows , chickens , geese , ducks , pigs . I remember holding my hand straight out in front of my face and not being able to clearly see my hand . Most farmers would tie ropes from the house to the barn to make it safely back and forth . One man who got lost in the storm walk for almost three days to stay alive , was one and half miles from home after visibly to find his way home . At other times it was so cold as childern we could spit and it would freeze and bounce off the ground .

you need a cattle prod for the pigs. every time they bite you need to zap them. they will stop biting you. they'll avoid doing that like they avoid the one strand of electric wire.

Coldest iv ever felt was when we brought my daughter home from the hospital. It was a windchill of -52°c. (-40°c is -40°f and our 0°c is your 32°f)

The worst of our cold has passed but it’s still cold. Today the temp is 49 and tonight is to be 27 degrees. It is warming up but it has been terribly cold the past few days. It’s nice to see how well you take care of your animals. According to the weather the temp is warming up to the high 60s and lower 70s. We didn’t get any snow. It hasn’t been this cold in Alabama since 1989. Stay warm, be safe and have a very merry Christmas.🎄

Here in north western South Dakota, we hit -50 below . And was not able to get out to feed the animals. But we was prepared and just put out as much feed as possible.

I lived in Minnesota for more than 10 years and there were the occasional times when the actual temperature was -40F with a 20mph wind which I believe put the windchill at about -55F. That is cold!!! I can remember fueling up my car on one of those days with a stocking hat on, long-johns under my pants and wearing thick insulated leather mittens. The thing that made it very bearable was my heavy sheepskin coat. That coat made standing out in that cold an easy thing to do. With that big thick collar pulled up over my neck, I stayed nice and warm and couldn't feel the bite of the wind at all, just the buffeting about by the gusts. OH! Keep your back into the wind so you don't freeze your face off!!! I mean it, you can literally freeze your face!! My uncle had a goat once that had a habit of butting him every so often at unexpected times. That goat eventually died of lead poisoning. 😏
