Well looks like the System 3 remake wont appear due to the Kickstarter overdue since months and lack of communication about the project at all. A shame.

This is an amazing remake. But I think the pixel art original will survive longer, as it's less reliant on real-world imports and is pure artistic choice.
5:04 A true ninja would not cast a shadow. haha! I am joking. This is super. Just wish they could make a decent remake of the Last Ninja series while keeping the awesome soundtrack.
geil. ich war 13 als ich l.ninja2 gespielt hab. auf datasete. verdammt war es hart. mit 16 hab ich das spiel mit flopy durch, aber nur per cheats. trozdem eine sehr schöne errinerung :)
It's like what the mass media does: put a shiny skin over the truth... in this case, well done! All the same I prefer the original graphics and DEFINITELY the original music.
Wow. Impressive. It's practically the whole scene redrawn from scratch. It could probably be achieved easier using a modern game engine, however, probably harder to get exact the same proportions and angles. I wonder why there are no remakes of old hit games like TLN, but then again, probably silly copyrights.
It was made by System 3, and that company still exist and still own TLN. They are making, errr, Farmageddon these days (not quite computing history), but they still show TLN if you look at all their games. The truth is, retro games do not have much of a customer base (see the number of views those videos generate). It would need to be a modern game, not a remake, if they were to get millions of customers. And you need lots of customers if you are charging 10-20 bucks for it and Steam takes a huge cut out of that.
this reminds me of the 256color spectrum emulator; it would be great to do one of those for the c64 with crowdsourced replacement sprites/tiles for c64 games (I'm thinking the sprite/tile engine could enable such a thing to work more easily than the 256color spectrum bitmap replacement)
this is brilliant. absolutely love it. I am a little torn, only because I love the old blocky feel of 8-bit graphics, but it's quality work nonetheless
May I ask, how did you do the impressive bloom lighting effect near the end of the video? I tried a bunch of ideas too, but yours is really cool looking.
Fence shadows go 2 different ways and is incomplete on the right, drum sizes are so unrealistic. The curtains look a bit out of place, need of grunge. Cool work on the Ninja!
