I actually really appreciate shows like Object Redundancy, LOS or Snack Time - yes, they mostly age poorly, yes, they might be controversial and yes, they are not remembered fondly by the majority, but it proves that in this frankly stale community there are always people who aren’t affraid to subvert the tropes, clichés and stupidities of the OSC without making a stupid joke show with self-referential dialogue being 99% of the humor or making something profound and grandiose as ONE - in a way, they sort of laugh *with* other shows instead of laughing *at* them, because they still provide something different, but similar enough to where it doesn’t feel like all edge and no point (at least to me)
Being completely honest, I loved LoS. It has so much charm that strangely other big object shows don't have. And with someone with an edgy sense of humour, I don't mind the swearing at all. It also has a really original idea, especially at the time.
Wow! I just finished LoS, and it was surprisingly decent. I heavily agree with your thoughts on your show, especially with your comment regarding the unnecessary swearing, audio quality, and the use of certain slurs! If you are reconsidering rebooting LoS, I would love to see you write show as something comedic with some satire or irony included! I can definitely see this show pointing fun at how object show cliches such as: “The mean character being voted first”, “Bully and nice characters being one-dimensional”, and “Nice characters always winning”. Plus, I’d like to see the ‘lore’ behind why Tie and Steak dislike each other :)!!
Excellent review. Last Object Standing was fun to work on, and it was nice to have a show that wasn't afraid to bend the genre and tackle more mature themes. While the show didn't age too well (through no fault of its own), it offers a great concept. Glad to have inspired you.
Last Object Standing is one of the many shows I saw that pretty much defined the sense of humour that I have now, and its unconventional structure and sarcastic tone is somewhat groundbreaking for the genre when it first came out
"Object Shows aren't ready for strong language"? Well now they are. Other than that, I think LOS was a pretty good show, especially with the "Corporation trying to cancel the show" side story.
LOS is definitely still a guilty pleasure of mine. There's definitely something more charming and entertaining about it compared to other object shows that try to be "adult". I guess it's the more sarcastic tone and more niche references and humor that makes me enjoy it compared to shows that tried to be adult by just having swear words or tasteless objects. I personally think if the show was ever remade with more professional standards and more experienced creators it would be a great show. Doubtful it would ever happen but I still like to imagine that reality or the proof of concept. Regardless though I'm glad the original LOS is still up and that you still have a soft spot for the show!
LoS aged like wine, but not everyone likes wine. It has a show feeling, but nothing like an effortless 200 million views, and nothing just trying to be edgy af. The jokes may be offensive, but that’s what makes the show unique. It had unique contests, elimination, characters with the exception of aspirin, etc. 10/10 show.
Nice to know that you are back, as always, another great video, Although LOS had alot of problems such as some of the scenes not aging well and excessive swearing, It was still an entertaining show even to this very day, I still consider LOS to be one of the few mature object shows that arent an entire pile of garbage.
6:25 This is fair I mean nice character Aren't the worst thing ever. But it does get annoying After a while Of this. So To see A nice character Actually treated Poorly. Not Gonna lie It's pretty refreshing
Your show is honestly kind of an inspiration for me. I myself have a similar writing style like yours where I include profanity’s in my shows. While most people may think it’s a bad idea to include them, I think it’s a cool way to step outside of the box. Back on track though, your shows humour and characters are just so damn funny to me and will remain an icon in Object Show history. BTW, what’s the music at 29:06? It sounds really good and I want to listen to it lol.
With a good review, Last Object Standing may had its flaws. But you gotta admit, the adult humor was gold comedy. (Apart from the slurs.) And with a funny show like it, I’d honestly laugh til im no more lol. On top of that. When i immediately heard Pearce’s name. (32:54) I felt terribly bad. He inspired me a lot in this community. Gave me a load of memories with Shape Battle. And with barely some time to meet him, I felt sad. I hope he’s doing greater than ever, he’s full recovered, and can come back in the future. With that, I’ll miss this old show and Shape Battle a lot…
I once deleted nearly all of my old object shows because of how unhappy I was with them and I regretted it for a long time because I did it out of impulse and wanted to reupload them but I lost the video files until I found them again recently. Now I don't really know what I was missing.
Hey! This is Pearce (formerly PDDRMAnimationPro). Just letting you (and everyone) know that I am alive and well! I've moved on from making object shows and have chosen a different career path, but it was a pleasure working on LOS. 🙂 Although I don't animate anymore, I occasionally voice act. So if you decide to make another object show in the future, I'd be happy to help out with voice acting. 😉 -Pearce
In my opinion, this was a pretty good show! I think episode 1 was better than 2, because 2's pacing was a little too slow, but it was still pretty good. I think there was a little too much swearing, but ep 2 fixed that. What I like about this show is that it feels very character based, and I think every character is already decently rounded to where your able recognize each one compared to a lot of other object shows. Some people have compared this too some other stuff that I feel has aged way worse and has way worse writing (Redundancy), which feels pretty unfair though there are some things that definitely aged well. Overall I'd like to see some more show's like this, makes sense you cancelled it though.
As always, good recap and review, nice to see some little details i didn't know of before like the list steak found having scrapped contestants in it! Also... This might be a HUGE favor to ask but... If it would be possible, can you at any point you like perhaps, review my show?... I have been doing work on it since mid 2014 and even 2 comics in late 2013 and early 2014. However, it never really gained much traction and/or attention. It's like completely in the dark. I remember animationarea and 100dcx probably being the only ones that know my show even exist's out of the bigger osc members and there's just so much that i have to learn and what better way then to have someone like you taking a look at it? So far i have 2 major episodes with one draft from 2014 and a lost episode gone due to corruption which was also made in 2014. It would help me out alot an i'd be grateful for just the slightest things you'd do if you have interest.
@@baoobjectshowreviews ohhhhh, i got them mixed up also do you have any episodes of battle for ice citadel? all that remains of it is a single wikia article about it
