the best performing commercial jet right here.........the short 9 outruns everything...........the pilots of this thing got some bravery to run it out of this field..........
Cool. I lived at meadowlark airport in Elsinore CA.in the Early 70's though the mid 80's. I've seen all the aircraft but the dc 9 is my favorite.thats the aircraft I dealt with at john wayne airport
The cost to maintain and staff that jet annually is thru the roof; be lucky to clear 10% when is all said and done. Nice to see aviation enthusiasts keeping that bird flight worthy. $200.00 for a ride is a bargain.
Sketch landing. Hold the flair and bleed off speed, not sure why the pilot is pushing the nose towards the ground over the threshold. Gonna bounce everytime doing that.
Have you looked at the length and width of that runway? Nevermind the fact that there is basically no load coming back since no baggage, passengers or much fuel either. I imagine th ground effect must be pretty big..
with a 5,100ft runway the only way this deal works is they can run small fuel loads and almost no cargo loads.........still a hairy operation........you for sure don't want any engine hicups at this place.......gotta go see a takeoff here for sure..............
GOL, LATAM and a few other carriers until not too long ago ran flights from Rio-Santos Dumont to as far as Brasília. 2hr flight, taking off from a 4340ft runway, using 737s and A320s
This is the old SAS DC9-21. It was made for short runways in remote locations in Norway with the short fuselage of the 10-series, but wings and engines from the 30-series. It was a custom series of aircraft only made for SAS. They are as close you can come to VTOL in a DC9. 😂
If you want to really see what the DC9-21 can do, look up "SAS DC 9 takeoff and short field landing Værnes 1996" here on RU-vid. You will be amazed over how agile this aircraft is.
