Given the retro theme of the bike, I think that Triumph should have fitted the Speedmaster with the twin clocks of the T120. Beautiful bike at any rate.

The Speedmaster is a cruiser. If you need something more sporty then there is the Bobber. The Speedmaster is predominately made for the US market although it's been quite popular in the UK. Having said that it is by far the best looking Bonneville Triumph have made... P.S. the Bonnevilles are classic motorcycles and while I understand right angled tyre valves are more convenient for checking/adjusting tyre pressures, classic bikes didn't have right angled tyre valves. The valves are normally straight chrome types to match the chrome wheels and spokes.

Granted with the valves but then cruise control didn't exist on the classic Bonnevilles either. 🤷‍♂ They should have angled valve stems IMO. Having said that, I still bought one.

I own this bike and found the 4 cons you mentioned to be understandable as you need time to get used to them. I now absolutely love the beach bars, the forward controls, and the softer suspension, as I am 5’7” and 155 pounds. The rear suspension is adjustable, but I find nothing wrong with it. As for the valve stems… interesting. I check my tires quite often and have no difficulty. I recently installed a FOBO 2 pressure monitor system and that makes it as easy as it gets. But in the end, I think over time you might appreciate those things more, but that might be dependent on your height and weight? I think this bike was built for me. As for your positives. Spot on! Thank you for the review.

Most bikes are built/set up for shorter, lighter riders these days. Not everyone is Valentino Rossi. I think it's a marketing mistake to exclude tall heavy riders (like myself), seeing as we make up the biggest slice of actual buyers (older heavyweights). Not many bikes fit the majority of buyers in the UK.

@@markatchison9974 it’s all that coffee and cake I keep eating mark 😂 agree most bikes of the showroom floor are too soft for a 95kg tall bloke. In fact I’ve seen bikes bought new and when guys have had the sag and set up done they have had to change fork springs as the standard showroom floor new bike were way soft for them.

@@gregghaworth9636 I have; it's fine, nice seat, but I'm waiting for the rear backstay and pad to make it even more comfortable (it was on backorder,) and to be able to use my sissy bar bag. I also have Viking hard leather saddle bags on it and a Madstad touring screen that is interchangeable with the flyscreen. I am also waiting for the floorboards. This bike is so customizable; I can turn it into a bagger, or tear it down to Bobber style in a few minutes.

Interesting couple of reviews. I recently bought a new speedmaster (in red) and have done about 1000 miles. As far as the bars are concerned, I find them very comfortable after a few days of getting used to them, my only reservation is that at dual carriageway speeds, it can feel as if your hands are edging their way towards the end of the grips because of the angle of them and the wind on your arms, however I think with flat bars, the rider world be bent uncomfortably forward, when combined with the forward controls and low seat. The ride can be a bit choppy, but no worse and a in most cases much better than most cruisers. The preload comes on the lowest setting when it arrives from the factory. I'm about 103 kg and have it on setting 3 off 7, which seems about right. I agree about the right angle tyre valves, which seem to come as standard on the speed twin. I was told at the dealership that it's because of problem having that type of valve fitted with wire wheels (although I'm sure my old Africa Twin had right angle valves).

Hi Gareth, always good to hear from an owner. Yes I think of flat bars and feet forward would be a stretch. TBH I came off the bobber which had feet down and flat bars which I suited better. Great bikes all of them, I actually like the look of the Sooedmaster better ! - good that it has adjustment on the under seat RSU 👌 and tbh most bikes bead a adjustment we are all different 👍 cheers for tuning in. Nick 🙏

I think your summary was fair, although the beach bars and forward controls are subjective and down to personal taste. I mentioned on the first ride out video comments that the Triumph floorboard kit really enhances the feet forward position and the heel/toe change is superb. I'm fairly heavy (17st) and have had little niggles with the rear shock performance but not enough to pay £600 for an Ohlins (STX36 - TR821) upgrade. I also agree that the valve stems are fiddly. I've bought a set of valve bends that screw in whilst measuring / inflating which are a great help in the garage but clearly need to be removed before riding. I think my biggest issue with my Speedmaster was that the forward controls tend to change the way your body weight interacts with the seat. Mine has the newer "comfort" seat with the extra lumbar pad. Until I unbolted that pad, peeled the cover off and replaced the solid padding with a car wash sponge then re-assembled and re-fitted onto the bike, the lumbar pad was simply to uncomfortable for me on long rides. Again, not a big enough problem to warrant spending £800 on a Corbin seat upgrade. Thanks for the video of the B6254 Carnforth to Kirby Lonsdale road, happy memories almost 25 years ago when that road was on my doorstep and I owned a Ducati 900.

@@MOTOUK1 I was wondering if stiffer springs in the front would help. I note there are some aftermarket ones out there. I got a little lost when they talked about "spacers" and chopping off part of the springs. I've just ordered one of these, and share the thoughts about swept back bars. One solution is to put risers on, apparently. For me, I might try some wreckers and look for some old America bars. We shall see. I'm smitten by the looks of this bike, and for me that's saying a lot. The last bike to really do that was my '58 Speed Twin, with it's custom black frame and gold-flake tank and chrome rocker caps. Sigh!

Hi Robert, yes it’s a fab bike and you could ad progressive fork springs and or different weight oil to the front forks, on the rear you just need to adjust the preload. Then she would be magic. 👌

Just found your channel. Not sure you should label your issues as cons. Beach bars are purely a personal like/dislike. Forward controls - it's a cruiser. Softer suspension than Bobber - again it's a cruiser - can't think of anyone else criticising the suspension. Bobber has HP engine, Speedmaster has HT engine. Tyre valves - tubed tyres so I'm not aware of there being an inner tube with an angled valve.

If you had to choose any triumph which was comfy for somebody with a bad back but also has character what would you pick? Tiger, Speedmaster or Speedtwin? I love the bobber but think it will be uncomfortable putty they did not offer a seat like the one on the Speedmaster on the bobber. 👍

@@garystratton8731 If the bobber is a bike you love, triumph offer a lot of options for seats for them, i have a comfort seat on mine and it's very comfortable, mine also has the high bar option which i think helps with comfort for me, i aslo have back issues, but the look and feel wont be for everybody. The bobber is probably best suited for a sunday blast or a short trip bike, which it is very good at, completely different to what a tiger is for, so you need to consider a bike for your type of riding. Hope this helps 👍
