For £6799 -£7299 what else can you buy which offers the quality and performance and comfort ? Just replace rear shockers with aftermarket ones lot cheaper then Triumph which are twice if not three times the price 🤔

Morning Nick, I was quite impressed with the Super Meteor when I took one out, even though I didn’t expect to be 🤔. On the roads front. On the A6 going into Carnforth from Pine Lake, there is a new housing development. That section of road was lovely and smooth before all the utilities companies dug it up, over several different occasions (why they couldn’t do it at the same time is beyond me), and I expected them to do a full resurface once everything was completed, but oh no. It is now bloody awful, and they won’t be resurfacing, because they have put fresh lining, and rumble strips (unnecessary) down just as you enter the 30mph limit. Makes me so angry 😡

I concur with all you said about the meteor Nick. They are nice bikes but again for me if go shotgun. I had the fame issue with the rear shocks in the meteor 350. Don't speak to me about potholes 😢 they are spending hundreds of thousands on shuting off main roads here snagging up the city and building cycle paths that no one is using.. Its all nuts! How you're well and don't forget to meet up some time 👍

Sorry but you wrong on many accounts. Firstly the rear shocks are soft, your actually bottoming, wind the adjusters stiffer to stop bottoming and your find its fine. Secondly range is well over 200miles with 20plus when the Fuel monitor reserve kicks in. I've done over 5000miles on mine touring UK, FRANCE, SPAIN.

Hi Nick, I intend to put the "touring"option on the super meteor 650. Along with the Ohlins rear shocks to smooth out the rough ride. The bike is an excellent choice for a bike, and, I'm looking to make it MY first BIKE! I'm a 59 year old first time rider. Doug🇺🇸🦅🤓👍⭐⭐⭐😎

I invested in a set of Hagon shocks for my super meteor, although not perfect but a lot better, I don't agree about the brakes though, think they are more than enough...
@rossmccrindle8624
@rossmccrindle8624 5 месяцев назад
Your rear shocks are bottoming out because you don't have enough pre-load. As counter intuitive as it sounds, put 2 notches of pre-load on them and they'll feel much more compliant 👍

I did exactly that and quickly made the ride at least average. The amount of comments by reviewers of harsh ride and softest setting makes me smile.

Yep, I agree that our roads have got into a shocking state - and it's something we now need to take into account when looking at a new bike (as I am). I'm really keen on the S Meteor, but the shocks are a problem. I'm in London, and off the main roads the side streets are much the same as up your way. Trouble is, no-one seems too keen on the obvious financial consequences of funding the necessary repairs. Everything's already cut to the bone - at the bottom end people can't cope with a tax-hike, and at the top end people simply won't accept a tax-hike. I guess ultimately, we get what we pay for.

I don't wish to get into politics, but ALL taxes go direct to the Treasury & they decide what percentage they give back to local councils. Often it can be as little as 50%, which is why budgets are tight.
@tompayton84

You’re spot on about the roads and many people think the same. There’s spots I’ve seen where you’d 100% be thrown off a bike. Need to stop all these government grants putting up “asylum seekers” in hotels and spread the wealth levelling up infastructure around the country.

@@MOTOUK1 it all went into the pockets of politicians same in the US. Both governments have more than enough money to fix both a refugee crisis, and the crumbling infrastructure. But they don't care because they don't have to deal with either problem personally

The way forward on UK roads is Adventure bikes imo. I've had my Honda Africa Twin for nearly 4 years now & as you say, it rarely gets stuck in road ruts & glides over most pot holes.

Agree, I can’t believe how bad the roads are. Even in front of the council office here the road is just disintegrating and they do nothing

In relation to the current road conditions, do We go back to the old road fund which ceased in 1937 rather than vehicle excise duty (VED). If it's road fund then the money is to be spent on the roads. Whereas VED is a tax for owning a car and the government can ear mark the money anywhere the please
@MOTOUK1
@MOTOUK1 7 месяцев назад
The government is sucking the life out of councils. As it’s been one of the wettest winters here, not much salt has been used on roads so I’m guessing come March they will be out spreading all their stock on not frozen roads so they get their allocation again 🤣
@marcuswright2965
@marcuswright2965 7 месяцев назад
I agree, but that is a practice which has occurred for years, don't repair the roads, spend elsewhere and at the end of the financial year if we have anything left then we.will repair what we can. However if it was returned back to the Road Fund rather than VED the money has to be spent on the road.
@splodge5714
@splodge5714 7 месяцев назад
There has been repairs to the roads since 1937 but it's down to the councils to fix pot holes. There's too much waste, mismanagement and corruption in local councils.

There seems to be a revival of old style bikes now. Being an older pensioner rider, these type of bikes are beginning to suit my life style .my current bike is the Triumph Trident . Its all about seat height for me and price. Keep up with the videos i enjoy them very much, but most of all keep safe.
