Play number one, the secondary defender is moving forwards when he makes significant body contact that displaces the shooter. I have a foul on the secondary defender.
Play #1 I have the primary defender vertically legal no question. It appears the secondary defender was jumping towards the offense player and body bumps him plus I see enough arm contact. I have a foul on secondary defender.
eh, secondary was not jumping towards the offensive player, but sideways. But because the offense bumped in to the legal primary, contact occurred. . And I don't see enough arm contact. I'm more of a 'let them play' so would've said: game on. Still a lot of time on the clock, and I'm guessing the refs weren't that hard on minimal contact
That last play. WHY was it a block? Defender had position, slid over sideways, had his feet down before the offensive went airborne, contact on the torso. I would've called a charge, straight through. (and yes, I would've sold it too. That was an empathic play, which needs a big sell.)
Man Greg, can't believe we are done with the season already. LOVE your vids. Keep up the great work. Regarding the YMTC play, everything you are saying makes perfect sense: defenders vertical (you could argue that the ball handler flung himself into the defender, actually), no obvious foul, players competing at the basket, etc. However, there are some jurisdictions that want (demand?) a whistle if 2 players go to the floor like that. What would you say to that?
Play #1: Vertical; good no call. Play #2: Still not really sold on that contact, but someome tell the C to get his feet out of the mud and move; the trail really shouldn't have to go and get that. Play #3: This game is over. Even if the timer missed the touch on the inbounds, they certainly shouldn't have missed it the second time. Either the Trail or Centre just needed to blow their whistle to indicate time should have expired, then they can talk about how they missed the 6th player and apologize to the coach. Play #4: The Lead should have been the one to call the T, then the look of uncertainty for the crew wouldn't have happened since he would have been the one informing his partners. Play #5: Hopefully, we'll hear more of what went in to the decision to waive off the basket when the C had it correct all along; this is why having some sort of visual indicator, or a clock at both ends, to coincide with the horn is really becoming an indispensible piece of equipement. Bonus: I can live without doing the Joey Crawford. 😄
