correct me if i am wrong but if your wondering about the squeel of the engine as it accelerates, i believe it is the gears it is pulling that make that sound. i may be wrong
Unbelievable, your lap times are very impressive and great driving. I took the Intro into Racing class at Laguna Seca and my laps were nowhere near as good as yours, great video.
that is normal for the formula dodge, they use basically shaved street tires. Narrow tires compared to other racing slicks, so they slide or turn at more of an angle where it looks like sliding than a wide tire.
in addition to drafting, if your exit from the previous corner is only slightly faster than the guy in front, it will take the most of the straight to get ahead or even with the car in front sometimes
wrong, most of the length of the track is the straits, so having even 1 mph on the exit of the turn is much greater time reduction for the lap, than say going through the turn a little faster.
Reduced drag resistance.... is the main reason, it's called drafting. Other than that, different driving styles( tire temperatures -should be close but locking up tires heats them up quick as hell and can reduce grip in some cases, driveline, etc) driver weight...
How do you upshift and downshift in these cars? Because i know that in a normal car to upshift you do Clutch in, Shift, Clutch out, gas. And to downshift it is Brake, Clutch in, Blip, Shift, Clutch out is it any different in these cars? do they have sequential transmissions?
from what ive seen in the Skip Barber training videos on RU-vid they do have a clutch and the shifter is tucked in on the right side and cant really be seen unless you look in from the left side.
It's actually not any team radio. This is Skip Barber Racing School. These are the instructors calling the race from corners to insure safety and clean racing. If there are infractions, they are seen. This is only heard by race control, instructors and the mechanics on pit lane. None of the drivers hear any of this.
If they are all equal how is it so easy to pass on the straight while pretty much getting the same drive as the guy in front of you? It frustrated the other guys so much they all spun behind you and were locking up trying to stay in front! Seems like I would see more out braking maneuvers if things were really equal. maybe you are lighter than them?
Could be the car was slightly had a few more hp than others. Even though they are same engines, it isn't always perfectly equal. Sometimes a car might be firing a little better than others. That said, getting back to the gas sooner in the turn is also how he may pass on straits. That is the best place to pass is on strait. Late breaking into a turn rarely leads to a sustained pass.
Looks like he had a hair more top speed than everyone else. Otherwise they would have drafted him right to the front. I didn't see many others pass on the straights.
the objective of this cars is not speed, is to learn car control, if you can drive one of those thing well, you will be able to drive most other automobiles
being able to drive those well, does not mean you can drive other, more faster cars. Faster, high power and performance cars are even harder. This is for learning the basics of race driving, like breaking before the turn and not in the turn etc.
im way faster than this guy in iracing using a busted xbox360 controller, less than an hour in the game. im just here looking to see if my time was good or not.. guess its good. SOMEONE GIVE ME A COOKIE, OR A RACING JOB.
Not sure if you're joking, but no racing sim is a perfect representation of reality and certainly not iRacing, which is probably one of the worst actively updated sims in terms of physics accuracy. Even the engineers that design tires don't fully understand some of the physics behind how the rubber grips, so there's certainly no way a sim could ever represent it accurately, not to mention the amount of processing it would take to make an accurate mesh of a flexing tire wall and calculate it to any degree of accuracy. Racing sims are a good way to learn to drive a car hard as well as practice race craft against other drivers, but they are not directly comparable to real life by any means in terms of actual lap times.
You know the guys way at the back all the time in things like nascar? Yeah... those are the egotistical people that act like you. Focusing on what you did wrong and how you can correct will help you so much more than what you do right, and that goes for anything in life.
NASCAR sucks and is full of slow people anyways, their car prolly sucks too. yea, they tell me that same shit in forza4 too " _your top 100 time doesnt mean shit in that class, in that track.. beat this track with this car!_ " i come on, set 25th place in like 3-30 laps, depending on how stupid the car or track is that day. that game has been out for like 6 years or some shit. i come onto IRacing, because " _forza4 doesnt mean SHIT, see how you do on IRacing THEN we will see!_ " and it feels BETTER to me than forza! waay more turn-in, ima just go FASTER! XD the 360 controller shares an axis with the triggers tho, and i cant fix that.. so no trailbraking 4 me. the steering is hyper sensitive, and my controllers joystick is broke so, no steering 4 me. P.S. if you cant tell this guy in the video aint going too fast, then your one of them noobs i crush too. ya sound like one of em
LOL, nobody has a racing job. NASCAR and F1 are the only people that get paid enough to live off of racing, everyone else is spending every last spare cent (or loaded to begin with) and maybe the best will break even off of prize money. Racing is a rich man's hobby, it's not a profitable profession for 99.9999% of participants, and even those that *do* make money spent hundreds of thousands of dollars of *someone's* money to get there (usually rich parents) from a lifetime of karting and other motorsports up the ladder.
