Yes yes yes on the first race at thunder hill You said you went up on rebound so you needed to go up on spring.. You decreased average ride height(wheel weight) with rebound. So by putting stiffer springs you increase average ride height(wheel weight). Good stuff

We all wish we just had every answer from the start but the truth is it take time to learn. . . But we are learning!

Racing on a big 1/2 mile like Eldora we always had our four point 1 3/4” .095 DOM.

Hi Jason. If you want to race a higher backed track, try Potomac Speedway in St. Maryland County Maryland.

One issue with the metric chassis is the rear frame rails need to be narrowed by moving the right rear side inward 2". Plus widening the front tread width is recommended. Because of the leverage ratio of the metric front lower control arms between the pivot points and springs the spring rates will need to be heavier than what would use on a Camaro or big body Montes. Can't weight to watch your next chassis build.
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE Год назад
I agree with all of what you are saying here. Right now though my plan is to build with a 60" rearend to solve the rr frame rail bind issue. I will correct the front track to match by using different lowers.
@samferguson6839
@samferguson6839 Год назад
Mount your rear calipers low.. I had issue with the RR caliper banging against the frame during roll over.
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE Год назад
Will do!
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE Год назад
I am planning to mount them straight up and down on the rear side the same as my 112 chassis. Since I cut the frame off past the rearend it solve the issue of hitting.

I always build my motors loose they would last a good while
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE Год назад
I'm not sure exactly how loose I will get this one but I'd like it on the loose side myself. I am over on the bore just a hair on a few holes and think I will take the others (4.060 vs 4.061) up to match them. Some room in the bore is not a bad thing!

I always had my car geared where the motor would slow me down
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE Год назад
One of the reasons I am using a 4340 crank in this next build is for just that reason. I want to be able to gear shorter and spin it up further where I can get off the corner better and get in the corner better.

Rear roller center and lr bite are directly related. Higher rear roll center needs more bite. Don’t be afraid to crank it up near 350lbs
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE Год назад
I have not considered this relationship as much as I should have in the past and I think between how it improved the rotation on the track and feedback like you are giving here, I am starting to see the benefit :)
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE Год назад
Dino, how I understand what he's talking about is how that the easier a car can roll onto the rr, the more lr bite it can use. Its definetly a factor where the two are related but probably more like siblings than marriage :)

Jason you will do just fine because you have been around these cars long enough to tell by watching to know what it's doing. Now on your next build why would you even consider building a metric front clip car they are not the clip of my choice because of wheel base side to side or track width. Hay love your videos keep them coming enjoy them so much and I hope you can get a motor together that makes as much HP as your aloud. Till next year enjoy your holidays and have a happy New year !
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE Год назад
Thanks Dana. I have never built a metric so of course I need to do that :) One thing is for sure I agree 100% about that track width. Two items I already know I will be doing: using the longer Johnson lower arms on front and a 60" rear end. That fix's the track width part. Still a lot more to figure out though and that's the fun part!
