Ranbo is actually a hen! :D you can tell by the lack of spurs, the wide tail feathers, and the lack of a pronounced waddle. Hens are much rounder than roosters with softer looking feathers.
I had a "pet" duck. My duck and I were pretty tight, and we had our own language. I home schooled her as if she was my child. I was amazed at how far she got. It changed my mind completely about the intelligence and sentience of animals. My duck lived with me 24/7/365 for 31 years, and I have had as hard a time with her death as I had with my son's death. In a way, I have lost two children, and that has been very hard. It may have been difficult, but if you really wanted to, I'm sure you could have found a way to keep Rambo. It is a really big commitment though, and since the two of you didn't bond as tightly as my duck and I did, he's probably better off where he is now. My duck wouldn't have survived outside. She didn't know how to be a duck and would have had very big problems if I put her out. We were inseparable and that's the way it had to be. By the way, there is a way to tell if a chicken is a boy or a girl as soon as they are out of the egg, but it's not at all comfortable for the bird, and if you don't know what you're looking for you won't know. Birds have an all-purpose hole called a cloaca. They use it not only for getting rid of bodily waste, but also for sex. If you turn a baby chicken over and and push down and back just behind the belly, it will expose the inside of the bottom of the cloaca. If there is a very tiny bump in there, you have a boy chicken, and if there is no bump, you have a girl chicken. You must be very careful when doing it because you can hurt the baby chicken and kill it if you do it wrong, and you need to have a very good eye to be able to see the bump. I had to try on 16 chickens before I finally found it, and I had to look at quite a few more before I got to the point where I could tell every time. I was lucky and learned from someone who had been doing it forever, so I had a very good teacher. If I had to do it myself without any guidance, I'm sure I would never have learned how to do it.
Awww I loved your story. I'm sorry for your loses (both your son and your duck). I can't imagine how dificult it should be for you, I lost my cat but I only had him for 8 years and it broke my heart, you had your duck for 31 years, that's a whole life. He's in a better place now, you give him a good life and love. I'm sure he was very happy to be by your side. ❤️
@@naomi-USA She was a very happy little duck, and often told me so.The delight she took in life was memorable, and just as it did with my son, her little discoveries helped me to rediscover that child-like way of viewing things. I know that the hole in my being left by both of them will be there forever, but I'm far better for their having been in my life than my life would have been without them. For that reason I know that I am incredibly lucky to have had them both in my life. Thank you for your caring words. They are very much appreciated.
Birds really can be incredibly sweet and have complex emotions. I had a pet turkey once and she acted more like a dog than a turkey. Absolutely the sweetest thing
I can relate to your story I have an Amazon parrot ( yellow crowned ) , I got her when she was 5 days old and hand fed it, then she grew up and when she was around 7 months old I started to train her free flying it took me around 1 month of training when I decided to set her completely free without a harness now she's 5 years old and she probably doesn't know that she's a parrot and we've got the best bond between us. She trust me and I trust her. We go on trips, cycling, hiking, camping etc... always together. Btw her name is Cookie so yeah basically I can't imagine it without her.
My family had a pet duck when I was 6 then it started chasing me and biting me I cried to my mom then my father cooked the duck I felt guilty that time Edit: the duck was yummy
I quite litteraly said "OH HE HAS A FRIEND!" when i saw ramboo taking a dust bath with the other bird, as thats what chicgens do when they make friends. They eat together, sun bathe together, dust bathe together and even sleep together, chickens are truly beautiful creatures!
aww thats so cool! that place looks fantastic for him! lots of space and lots of other chickens and birds of all ages for him to socialise with. He's going to be a very happy chicken :)
Aw, I'm glad that lady knows how much you care about Rambo and took care of abandoned chickens/pigeons herself and sends you photos of Rambo. Adorable. Glad it worked out!
This has got to be the most lovely chicken story on RU-vid! Great story from day 1. Hope you give us update again on Rambo soon. Great documentary with a heart.
@Witaminka B12 I want to see you cooked up in a nice tasty dish, it'll be a better use for you rather than just you doing nothing useful. The cannibals would be happy to know you are better as food and not as a friend :)
With how nice that lady was who took Rambo in, I think you should offer to give her business a shout-out on your channel. Just in case you have viewers in the area who'd be interested in buying from her.
It would have been such a waste of feelings and emotions to have her turn into soup... I'm glad you took her back from the first place. I'm sure there are PLENTY of people among your subscribers who would have adopted her in a heartbeat and made sure she lives a long and happy life. I really clicked this video with a heavy heart, worried something bad has or is about to happen to her. She's a survivor, she deserves to live a long life. I really hope the lady who took her in the end will treasure her as we do, and won't kill or sell her.
Ugly crying after binging the series on Rambo. They’re beautiful and wonderful and I’m so glad you found a loving home for them. I hope you do go back and visit and give us more updates!
I totally felt this, it brought me to tears b/c I was in a similar situation years ago. When I was in college, I had to re-home a puppy that was not getting along well with one of my dogs,to the point where they were fighting so badly that I knew one of them was going to seriously injure the other Anyhow, it took a bit to find a new family for the pup and I was super anxious and stressed over the situation. I agreed to deliver the puppy to his new home..when I got there and went inside , my heart just sank. it wasn't an animal hoarder or something that horrific....but it also was not what I had expected after talking to the adopter earlier. But, .for many reasons, none of them good enough to warrant though...I left the puppy with them. Over 20 years later, I still berate myself for failing that poor dog. I knew the situation was not right, and I dread considering how things ended up. It may sound dramatic, but I consider it one of the larger moral failures of my life. I should have done what you did for Rambo: gone back for the puppy & cared for him until I found a beautiful home. But, I didn't and it haunts me to this day. I've been a pet parent who is in it from adoption to the animals last breath., for every pet I've been blessed with since that day, though and try to advocate for animals who need a voice as much as I can. I know that little puppy helped spark the passion I have for animals/animal welfare of all kinds...I'm no Betty White or Steve Irwin..but I feel like his legacy has helped better a few other animals lives. wow...so yeah, you hit all my feels with this. Thank you for being a good 'egg'.
I confirm. When I was a schoolboy, I've built an incubator and hatched a chick. This happened in Autumn and next Spring the grown up rooster was moved from apartment to my grandfather's hen-house.
I remember back in 5th grade when me and my class raised 5 baby chicks, literally we watched them hatch and everything. We only had them for a few days, but we still got so upset when we found it was time for them to go. It was still lots of fun playing with the tiny chicks though, they were so cute!!
My kindergarten grade 1 split class did that! We had a kiddie pool set up for all the babies after they hatched and we got to hold them, they had a distinct smell to them and were sooooo cute
AYO! I almost get tear eyed This three video of a chick that was born from a cup was so wholesome I had to know what happened next....tho I didn't expect it to be only three videos but it is enough for me.... Hopefully Rambo is still alive today and is doing great....and didn't end up in a kitchen... So epic video mah man. Epic!
'You can't even imagine what it's like to have a chicken as a pet!' I can, actually. As someone who has own hens since 2013, I've had my fair share of chickens! And I can agree with you, they are wonderful, rambunctious animals with a lot of energy! One more warning, if you ever decide to own more chickens, have 2 or 3, they get lonely alone! Oh and, if you are going to ever leave a chicken outside, please keep an eye on it! I've personally lost a few hens to foxes and other wild animals, also make sure they don't escape, roads, dogs and lakes/ponds/rivers can be very dangerous!
Yah, chickens should ALWAYS be keeped in a secure enclosure after sunset. Let them roam around during the day then use food or treats (or yourself if they are more bonded to you) to get them into a coup / enclosure.... Raccoons will even kill chickens. Really, don't leave ANY animal out over night, even in most cities. You'd be surprised what is wandering around outside after dark. My city has a bunch of raccoons and even coyotes that are seen in the middle of residential areas 5+ miles from any place that they would have a den. ... so ya KNOW they are hunting for food and that food is gonna be your chickens, cats etc that are left outside over night.
Man, I'm so glad you went back for her and found her a safe home. I almost cried with this journey. I really love how you came to grow attached to what you saw as just a science project. I believe if everyone tried once to raise a pet chicken, they would stop seeing them as products... When you hold something so small and innocent in your hands, try to keep it alive, and think of the future it might have in the wrong hands... It's trully a life-changing experience. To raise a chicken.
i love chickens. but they are dumb and aggressive most my friends chicken is M A S S I V E and has legit inch and a half long spurs so we just kick it out of the way because he just chills right beside the back door so when you walk out its either a bonzai attack or he makes your ankles bleed pretty bad.
in April I decided to buy button quail eggs from ebay (it came with 4 surprise coturnix quail eggs) and seeing them hatch and grow was amazing to see 🥺 the coturnix quail (his name is fluffles) was born with splayed legs and I took him to the vet a few times to get that corrected I wanted all my chicks happy and healthy 🥺❤ I kept two quails one button quail named lucky and fluffles. Lucky is called lucky because I needed to help her out of the egg she could have died if it weren't for my intervention!
@@animeluver22113 It's so nice that you can take them to the vet! I wish there was a vet I could take my chickens to when they get sick... I also recently had to open an egg so a baby chick could survive! It's an amazing yet super scary feeling, isn't it? xD Hope your quails grow up healthy and fluffy
I never expected to be emotionally involved with Rambos story from the very first video but here I am ugly crying while eating dinner. Lol I'm so happy you found a beautiful place for Rambo to live and be loved 💗
i have a blackbird as pet, she was abandoned so we took her in to feed her, this was shortly after her birth, she’s been living with me for 1 year now and i’m really happy to see how she adjusted to indoor life, we let her roam around in the garden during the evening so she can atleast do something natural, also to mention she can’t fly
As an Australian, I was thinking, "oh, a half hour drive. That's not too bad." 😂 But if they were having to drive through lots of towns and villages, then that would add to the driving time.
I had to give up my rooster and later my two hens because of similar conditions that you have. It was heartbreaking. I was about 10. I'm 40 now and the pain is still with me. People say it's just a chicken, but for me it was no different than losing a cat or dog. A pet, no matter what it is, becomes part of the family, specially if you raise it from an early age.
So true. I feel you very much! I'm almost 40 and I'm also still subconsciously suffering the losses of my childhood chickens. Two of them, Pinky and Brain, got eaten by my neighbor, because they sang at every hour of the day and my dad got annoyed and gave them away just before I joined the US Army. I refuse to suffer again, so I resist the urge of having any pet chickens. Every time I see one, I have to make an effort not to cry! My neighbor has a few and one of them made its way to my yard two days ago, and I saw it chilling under a palm tree in my front yard and eating the red berries, and I choked up!
Rambo's father, Your a blessing to the world and to humanity. I watched all 3 documentaries. I never thought that this would touch my soul the way it did, Thank you!
Family comes in all forms. It always warms my heart knowing there are still others in this world who care about animals as much as you and that nice women who took Rambo in. You have a huge heart ❤
Oh my goodness, this just warms my heart! I am so glad you didn't leave Rambo with the first lady. The second lady was so gentle with her and has the experience necessary to care for a unique bird like Rambo. Please go visit Rambo often and keep us updated! Would love more Rambo videos!
This was such a great video! Its odd how we can connect with a chicken. I love em they have such personality! Im glad u went back and found her a better home💖
No bro its main Russian channel with more other dubbed channels this is one of them and also this is voiced by a narrator there were 2 narrators not the main man and the 1st one left
Bro! I am crying… All started me showing my 6yrs old son your video about how Rambo was born and explaining to him the process… then he went back with his mother… So I was alone again facing another lonely week as a recently separated parent… Then curiosity hit me… Thanks!!! This is a very warming story!
YES - PLEASE keep tabs on Rambo. He's the 3-year miracle chicken! (Perhaps, the only one in the world). I can't believe what amazing companions you all have been for each other. I feel for you, and him, and your decisions, and I definitely want to see more happy stories about his triumphant life in the future.
I’m still confused on why they started finding a place for Rambo to stay on the day of departure? If he’s so precious why didn’t they carefully plan this before hand..?
I have chickens and love having fresh eggs. They have personalities of their own. Pretty cool. I believe it to be therapeutic to have a garden and raising chickens. I wish I had more property to raise turkey and quail and ducks.
I love chickens! You get super attached because they’re so special 🥰 when I have to give a away a rooster I always do a lot of research and literally interview and go visit the places to see the conditions of the place before I give them away. It’s always painful but if I know they will be treated with love and respect and not killed then my heart is a little more at ease.
Rambo will have a great life there! shows how much you loved her! (she looks like a hen to me) Thank You for being one of the good people on this earth! and im sure Rambo knows it too!
This video made me teared up. As a person who loves animals, I can’t see myself giving my pets to someone else. It always breaks my heart. I hope you can visit Rambo soon. Im sure she missed you. Yes, rambo is a girl.
I'm so glad you reconsidered your first option for Rambo and found a better place for him to live! I'd love to see a follow-up video showing how he's getting along in his new environment! (Also, I think someone who commented below that Rambo is a hen may be right, but luckily chickens don't have gender and don't really care what pronouns we use for them!)
