Picked up my 2024 Limited last week. Absolutely love it. Researched vehicles for two years and waited for the new Tacoma. Drove the new Taco back to back with the 2024 4Runner and came home with the Runner.

Great video and a serious reminder.....I bought mine new in 2021 knowing it was nearing the end of the line. Never thought they would be around for 3 more years until the next generation. My rig has been perfect and is smooth and quiet with no creaks or squeaks. Best vehicle I have ever owned.

Totally agree. This is my wife’s daily driver. 2023 Off Road Premium which gives you the rear locker, crawl control and the off road goodies but also included a couple extras like sun roof, seat heaters and KDSS. The KDSS is a legit suspension improvement on and off road. Do some research on it. Very pleased. Plan to keep it for a long long time.

Back in ‘21 during COVID, I bought a New 4Runner SR5 PREMIUM that took about 3 months to get here from Japan, and it was great but I traded it this past December for a New ‘24 4Runner TRD OFF-ROAD PREMIUM in the UNDERGROUND Color and glad I did since it’s the last year of the 5th GEN. It took about a month to get in from Japan, and it was the first 4Runner TRD OFF-ROAD PREMIUM in the UNDERGROUND Color sold in my Region. It’s built like a Tank and I’m enjoying it 💪🏼

I’ve always wanted a 4R since my dad had one when I was a kid. It was a 89 (?) baby blue SR5. There was a certain charm about it. Well fast forward to 2024…he constantly raves about his Lexus GX so my 4R itch started again since I realize it’s the last of its kind. Started really looking for a Lunar Rock ORP. Found one 4 hours away after missing out on 3 that were gobbled up by other buyers. Got my CPO 2023 Lunar ORP finally. I am in love with it. Will pass it down to my son. The build quality makes you feel like you are in a tank. I’ve owned over 22 cars in my life. Not all new but many different makes and models including Wranglers…from the YJ to the JK. Nothing….I repeat….nothing is like the 4Runner. Makes me mad I waited so long.

I still enjoy mine. It suits my hobbies like fishing and going camping . This suv have the space to bring everything you need camping and doing long trips. For the gas milage not so bad not so great but not so bad either. The most annoying thing about this is the trd blower , the droning sounds annoying in highway speed but sounds cool when your offroading .

Drove my 24 home tonight from work and got 22.6 mpg on the highway... 62 mph. At a park yesterday a 98 4Runner was parked next to me, no rust and the owner showed me the odometer after he took the canoe off the roof. Almost 250,000 miles. Still going strong. The 2025 4Runner is too big, ugly and I doubt they will be known for the reliability the previous gens are.

The IFS is where I think these compromise, like you said they’re good for a base reliable thing but I’ve heard once lifted or bigger tires the front end suffers a lot. It’s a shame because the new Yota line up is really good looking!

Agree. A mild 2 inch lift in the front is about most id ever go on a toyota ifs vehicle. Otherwise its new cvs every 40k miles. On the 4 runner I think bilstein 5100s set to 1.75" in the front and a 1 inch spacer in the back with bilstein 5100s in the rear is about perfect on the 4 runner to get a little lift and yet maintain most of the reliability and fit a 33.

I bought the wheels and tires and sold the stock ones. Ordered the tires I wanted online and had them shipped to me and did the same with the toyota pro wheels. You will also need new tpms sensors as well if you are not taking the originals out of you stock ones

Fuel efficiency is not going to be any noticably better. The new engines are for emissions regulations. Not mpg. You will save more in the long run with old school reliable v6.

Buy what you like….Fuel mileage will be marginal at best in the 2025. 4cyl will work hard and turbo is thirsty in any car.

I so wanted to get one until I sat in one. There is so much to love about the 4 Runner. But once I sat in it, the seats were like sitting in an elementary school desk chair. I couldn't get comfortable, which would have ruined my ownership experience. I'm 6'2" and about 200lbs. So I'm not fat or overly large before the keyboard warriors out there start saying that. I love our 2014 Sequoia, so the 4 Runner was on my list to replace our 2nd vehicle. I was so disappointed.

I had the same experience as you. Was planing on getting the new Landcruiser but decided to look at the outgoing 4Runner for its bombproof drivetrain. Horrible seating position and ergonomics for my 6’1” frame. Same issue as my son’s 23 Tacoma TRD Offroad. Great vehicles but they blew the ergos.

Your dealer can't actually order one. What they are going to do is see if they can find one in allocation that's heading to other dealers. You can also do the same if you want o e quicker by calling dealers and asking what they have coming in allocation. When you hear one you like out a deposit on it. If you don't hear one you want call another dealer and ask what they have coming. But toyta doesn't actually take customer or dealer orders. Your dealer is trying to keep you at their dealer buy letting you think you are ordering it, but they are just going to keep calling around to find one coming in allocation to a different dealer.

I l ft a 500 deposit and the sales person said they will see if they can still order one for me. I guess they are seeing if the can get one allocated to another dealership. Thank you for you reply.

@johnk4451 that's exactly what they are doing. And usually they do a good job finding what you want. You can also do some of that work yourself if you want one sooner than they can get it like a mentioned above. And if you find one coming in sooner you want to take you can always get your deposit back. Just giving you options. You can also wait until the dealer you put the deposit with finds you one. Either way congratulations on one of the best trucks ever made! You are gonna love it

Yes, the 4Runner is one of the most reliable vehicles, and I wanted to buy one since 2014 and neither I nor my wife liked how it drove and the lack of power were the two main reasons not to buy it. My neighbor bought one, and he regrets it, too. You are acknowledging the good and the bad, and I agree if someone is looking for the most reliable vehicle that will last not 10 but 30 years and they do not care about agility, comfort, and fuel economy, this is the vehicle to have.

@@Jason-Samko Every time I see a 4Runner, I admire that thing. It looks amazing, timeless. But, It is just not for us. That is why we have bought a 2nd gen Tundra instead of the 4Runner. The Tundra has a similar fuel economy (real world), more space, and tows better. We also could not put our 3 kids in the 4Runner, two are still using child safety seats. Trust me, we did 3 or 4 test drives (if not more), because I really wanted to buy the 4Runner. But my wife, the real boss in the family, said no each time. We drove every trim, and her position was that it is not meeting our needs. If the 4Runner was a bit more fuel efficient, I would love my son to buy one before they are gone. I would even give him 20k towards the truck, but he is very frugal, although that truck would be great for us to use for hunting.
