Last Wishes for Nintendo Switch 

The Switch had its ups and downs, but it's honestly been one of the best times I've had with a Nintendo console in years. And I hope Nintendo gives it one hell of a swan song.

If an Arms expansion or sequel exists it NEEDS to be called ARMS: Extended. Because their arms. Extend. And more content. Extend.

Glad to have you back Sock. Your ARMS DLC is a really good idea. I feel like the sequel is guaranteed to happen eventually, but that to release it on the current console would essentially be the death throes of the IP. A primer expansion on ARMS though would be a fantastic way to get the ball rolling.

When you said a specific type of Arms DLC, I didn't even think about a Story Mode. I thought you were going to say something like Crossover Fighters (Little Mac, Mario, Lanky Kong, etc.), but I very much like the idea of a story mode more.

I want Custom Robo and maybe a new Zelda spinoff (fighter or turn-based rpg akin to etrian odyssey).

Metroid Prim 4's biggest competition this Holiday is Astro Bot and Lego Horizons. Samus would literally be going up against Sony at their absolute most powerful since the PS2 age.

I hope that the new Switch has a better resolution and more processing power. That was the biggest shortcoming of the original switch. But the Switch really came in clutch on 15 hour flights, lemme tell ya.

Talking Sock posted! Day saved! About that last point, I think it’s like a 0.1% chance of that happening. Octo Expansion came out when Splatoon 2 was still getting support, releasing less than a year after launch. If ARMS was ever gonna get a single player content expansion, it either would’ve been late 2017 or during the game’s brief revival in 2020 thanks to the game being free for NSO members and the party crash celebrating the game getting a character in Smash. I would personally love more ARMS content even more than another Mario Kart, but I think the ship has sailed and the audience still playing the game is very minimal. But hey, I have hope we’ll see the IP again at some point in the Switch 2’s life.

The one last thing I’d want for the switch is for the NES zapper games to be put on NSO with gyro controls to aim, similar to the WII U virtual console ports. And also SNES mouse games using the touch screen. More people need axis to Mario paint.

An FE4 Remake would be great to have on Switch prior to the Switch 2. And after how much spotlight Sigurd got in Engage, it somewhat feels like they were maybe hinting at it

It is offensive that Xenoblade Chronicles X still is not on Switch. Like not just one, but *two* whole sequels were developed, and yet nintendo can’t be bothered to just port it over??

The Nintendo Switch was a perfect idea and for the most part I hope they just do more of the same but better. This truly was a phenomenal idea! Make the screen 8 inches. 1080p handheld, 1440p docked(more if we can) and have Raytracing. A standard of 60 fps for games like Tears of the Kingdom and an extension to 90+ for some other games like 2D platformers. Better touchscreen, OLED Kickstand normalized, and (would be nice if)OLED screen normalized. And that’s about it. But… I think it would be cool if they still kept innovating. Many people discussed with the NVidia chips. And I agree it would be cool if they could use AI to upscale the resolution. Make it so whilst docked they pick up a 1440p signal but the AI enhances it to 4K or maybe just like a UHD or whatever that’s pretty close to 4K, and the handheld tablet actually had a screen that could get 1440p but they only had games go to 1080p so that way the AI can upscale it and then they can just put that towards a better battery life opposed to just always running 1440p and like focus on framerate even! And then there is personality. Making the Switch like you said actually have themes, and actually have music! Bring back the Mii series. Have a Mii Maker app pre-installed on each console and not just in the menu and really lean into the Miis not by giving them loads of games but just one called Miiverse. Completely reimagining things where it’s free with Nintendo Online and it has like a big world to explore and you can do all the Sports and it’s pretty much Wii Sports Resort+Club Penguin+Tomodachi Life and then inject that baby with crazy steroids. An open socializing game for families locally or online would just be so fun! And because they’ve narrowed it down to one game they could have various cosmetics and stickers you unlock in different Nintendo official games and challenges that will rollover for this. And they could make it so in this game you unlock cosmetics which enable you to do more when creating Miis. Trust me I truly believe having one massive Mii game would be able to gain such popularity with proper release and advertising and it would just be better because then everything could feed into this one app and so by having a huge complicated game it actually makes everything way less complicated! And the last thing is I think it would be cool if the Switch 2 was just a Super Switch Pro+ or whatever and not a 2. At least not to start. They want to maximize the amount of families owning a Switch and that’s increased when the price is as low as possible. But that means sacrificing power. But what if instead the original Switch was used as the source to reach everybody and then this console could be whatever powerhouse it wanted to be. And using AI to improve the games and just making sure the frame rates wouldn’t lock at 30 would be easy work and make it so when playing original Switch games on the Super Switch/Switch 2 feel like next generation games. And so majority of Nintendo’s releases are all targeted towards the standard Switch for a while. I mean for like the first three years the Switch 2 has like five games. And then they weed out the Switch and budget it as low as they could to like $275 for an OLED and then they just finally start to no longer release Switch games and by the end of the fourth year the old Switch doesn’t really get any more releases. And like three years in they would have released the Switch 2 lite which, is handheld only to once again help transition into the next generation. This would be great as everyone wins. Old Switch owners get a nice transition, and aren’t immediately forced into things, and it’s like a long term play for Nintendo. And then also the more serious fans don’t have to get this crappy budget console where they don’t get a pro for like 4 years or don’t get any advanced model at all. Switch 2 launches at $450 and same day as launch there is also an OLED model for $500. Shortly after launch Switches become a super budget console and Nintendo’s main production line for the old generation is just the Switch OLED which would also almost immediately see a price drop to $300 and maybe this could even be for like a second generation OLED who knows. Two years in OLED reaches $275. Three years in Switch 2 Lite drops for $350.

For this direct its most likely the last bit of games before the successor console, I’m gonna say probably 2 maybe *maybe* 3 games in series, since they would want an big title release for the Thanksgiving-Christmas period For me I don’t think Prime 4 will release on regular switch or if it does it might be like BOTW where it’s released on both the new console and Switch, so whatever they have planned needs to be somewhat big.

I keep having a fever dream of a "hero of time trilogy" which would include oot, mm, and tp all remade to have a similar art style as each other and some minor tweaks to the originals' gameplay mechanics. In a similar vein a "toon hero trilogy" which would include wind waker, phantom hourglass, and spirit tracks remade to be 3d and not play like shit would also be awesome. These ARE just pipe dreams though but the thought is nice.

I will say, withe pride that F-Zero 99 is my most played Switch game with 260+ hours clocked in, it also helps that I’ve played along with streamers like MengskGX and Gat Chan, check those people out if you still play the game. As for new content I’m kinda expecting Reversed Tracks since we already got Mirrored Tracks, these would take no effort to make and are easy to do for the already existing tracks. But I know some fans want the BS Content Machines and Tracks since those are lost media but those still feel like a Pipe Dream but that’s my prediction for the June 2024 Direct. And yes I’d love for F-Zero 99 to get a Physical Edition, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.

Where is Beetle Adventure Racing.

I want DK content on Switch. I’ve lost hope for a big new DK game on Switch (we’ll see on the Switch 2) but a Country Returns port or DK 64 on NSO is on the plate. I’d take anything. The one port of Tropical Freeze on Switch is not enough DK for Nintendo’s most successful platform ever.

I mean, I'd take forward ports of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess haha. Also Prime 2 and 3 would be nice, even if they're just simple uprezzes rather than full on remasters. Other than that, just all of the above mentioned 3DS games

I'm down for a sorta frankensteins monster, a remake of fzero gp legend/climax smooshed together. I've gotten really good on 2D fzero games so moving onto 3D would possibly feel odd.

Idk if impatient is even the right term, ppl being loud about "just put this game on *insert next console name here*, leave switch to die!". But i think after witnessing the 3ds going on for a good while after switch launch, folks would mostly be a lot less annoying about that. Mostly. As for ideas, they're pretty awesome. I know id eat up that ARMS dlc idea, fork and knife at the ready. As well as more GameCube stuff. Besides, there's a lot of 3rd party and indie stuff still on my eshop wishlist too lol.

No Metroid Prime 2 mention? I mean it should be obvious but I dunno what Nintendo is waiting for, I wish it got the "Remastered" treatment, 2 and 3 should be already on the Switch so the wait for 4 is bearable and introduce new people to the Prime games. Also I too wish Arms got something more but I feel that ship sailed long ago, hopefully we get see something for the Switch's successor.
