This has to be one of the better performances. The addition of the belt fed Browning makes a huge difference, really gives them the GPMG to make them punch above the regular line infantry, and everyone still has a semi auto plus the additional BAR. Deadly weapons, but of course the tradeoff really is the lack of platoon assigned mortars the regular troops get

More reliance on direct fire as base and sectioned maneouvre. Each fireteam had the capacity to put down a moderate amount of fire, and two of them are capable of being efficient assaulters

Well, the Airborne platoons are 2 squads and a 60mm mortar, so they've got fewer bodies overall but plenty of firepower

@@usuallyhapless9481 ah I forgot they got their own mortar, so mostly at platoon level the same firepower just fewer bodies when accounting for the missing squads but adding the two Brownings

This amount of fire power back then and even today is terrifying considering volume of the bullets coming, as well as it being 30-06 bigger than even the 8mm Mauser and the 7.62x54r still in service today.

I'm not sure what you mean by bigger. They are all .30 caliber bullets with very small differences. In fact by bullet diameter .30-06 is technically smaller than the others you listed.

@@prinzalbatross9526 the Germans where firing a 154 grain projectile (possibly heavier for MGs) but the 30-06s would’ve been firing 150s but with more powder behind them. The overall projectiles are practically the same (as was designed to mimic the S Patreon spitzer) but in actual ballistics the 30-06 just edged it out. I’m not some sort of fudd lore defender of 30-06 however. In terms of terminal energy using WW2 loads the 30-06 delivers more muzzle energy than 8mm rifle loads of the top of my head.

@@wheneggsdrop1701 My understanding, and my thoughts looking at specs is that there isn't a big enough difference to matter, looking at feet per second or tens of feet per second when measuring in the thousands of fps isn't going to make a huge deal to a battle rifle. Minutia would matter more for a dedicated sniping rifle. I think what really makes the difference here will be other details like volume of fire or fire rate. When your standard rifleman can make 8 aimed shots in quick succession instead of 5 and having to manually cycle rounds after every shot and regain your sight picture, the US and .30-06/ M2 Ball is going to have the better showing.

@@prinzalbatross9526 You're right in that. The differences are effectively irrelevant. They're all in the same bracket, they aren't meaningfully distinguished for the average soldier on either the shooting or receiving end.

@@prinzalbatross9526 that’s been my perspective on the fire power issue if multiple rounds same for wounding or killing. Hitting your shots or getting them near is almost always the most important as well as the shooters ease of shooting.

all those semi auto rifles plus the belt fed mg is insane.

Good video showing the real firepower advantage reality the Allies had by late War even compared to the Wehrmacht average infantry squad.

Cool stuff. What sound mod is that? The bullet cracks and snaps sound really good.

@@christopherrobin4549 Ah weird. I use HQS as well but it always sounds punchier on these shorts. I assumed it was some kind of submod but maybe I am just not getting the camera down in the action enough.

I remember seeing that US Paras almost never jumped with BARs and the weapon wasn’t even in their TO&E. Is this late war squad showing Paras that are mostly used in an Infantry role?
