It's late November and the water temps have dropped into the low 40's. We decided to try to get into some cold water crappies while waiting for winter to bring us some hardwater. The crappies were suspended 5 feet down in a fallen tree in about 23 feet of water.
The bite was really slow and required just the right cadence of ripping the jig then slowing letting it fall. It was lots of fun watching the crappies swipe at the jig and being able to tell exactly when to set the hook on the bite.
We managed to catch just enough for a nice fish fry once we got home.
