There's literally no camping culture in my country but after watching your videos for years i finally decided to do it on my own without any camping buddy I recently did 3 day camp in spiti valley, it's an jeep camping trip but the solitude definitely aligned my soul with my brain Thanks Joe you inspired me for this

LITTLE BUDDY! he is just so happy to be out with you and his high strung pace won't last many more years. I hope he is not too much on you because I really enjoy seeing him get to unwind while exploring. I also prefer you having him over solo, he's an extra pair of eyes and an extra double pair of ears which makes him your alarm if something is happening. Another great video as usual...thanks Joe and Trip

Yep that is why you should always research before getting a breed of dog. It makes me mad when people go and get dogs because they look cute and then the dog ends up not being a proper fit for their lifestyle. I have a German shorthaired pointer, and they are hunting dogs that never run out of energy. I take them mountain biking regularly as well as on long hikes. If you are someone who works a 9-5 and doesn't have time to do these things and you go and get a GSP, then it is unfair to the dog.

If you're trying to film a video for RU-vid and got a dog like Tripper, Joe's job making the video is made more difficult, that's all. I know how to handle dogs. I've owned and been around dogs for most of my life. I recently lost my beloved 12 yr old terrier two months ago to a long illness which broke my heart.

Joe. In case of rain, always dig a sump around the perimeter of your tent, and then a drainage channel downhill and away from the tent, so the water rolls away from your cover and sleep system. This has been taught for 100 years, and I think you have touched on it too. I learned it from my father in the early 1970s. But great thing to emphasize.

Im not a hot tent expert, but in other videos and images I have seen it looks like the skinny side (where tripper's bed was) is normally where the stove is placed with the stove opening facing the center of the tent. that maximizes space. I think that is what the bent pipes were for, to be able to have the stove under the skinny side and still have the pipe come out the center of the tent. I am actually getting ready to build my own flat pack stove and buy my first hot tent this winter so this video was at a perfect time for me! I would love to see more hot tent camping.

The angle bends in the stovepipes are to let you scootch the stove out of the middle of the tent, closer to the tent wall. I think you prolly made the right call with the way you deployed it, with a steeply angled tent wall. With some more-or-less vertical canvas walls, I'd want the stove closer to the wall to maximize floor space. You did get the insulating section in the right spot, but another section above it would be good to improve draft and keep the sparks and embers off your canvas...... also, surprised there wasn't a spark arrestor cap....... Pro-tip: If you're truckin' in, a sheet or two of 1/4" plywood, cut into 4x4 foot squares, can be dealt around to give you a hard floor. DO NOT put the stove on top of this, leave that section bare ground. This makes a world of difference, particularly if you're camping on top of snow, or, mucky wet mess. Keep up the good work, and pat the dawg for us all......

Joe, would it be easier if you put the part that feeds air into the main chamber at the 12 o' clock position and just take that cap off to feed your wood into it? I wouldn't imagine there'd be a difference in the amount of air that is fed into it, and it seems like that'd be an easier option than taking the large door off all the time. Hope you get to see this comment and it works for you. Keep it up man, I love your stuff.

What he needs to do is actually read a manual on the stove and tent. I don't know why (mostly) guys seem to be proud that they remain ignorant about how things are designed to work. I'm helping people at my workplace all day long because they won't read a picking manual. They either don't know how things work or they use them wrong and miss out on the potential benefits. It really is sad. And some seem to be "proud" of this. I can understand trying to figure something out on your own - I do that all the time. But eventually you should get educated on something and enjoy how it is REALLY supposed to work. I suspect that the small hole is there to also load in wood, as you suggest.

Great as always. Keep em coming my friend....good to see tripper out also. He cracks me up. It's kinda when someone else's kids act up and it's funny because it's not yours.lol...that's how I watch tripper. The more he aggravates you, the more I laugh. Take care man.

The tent is a Tschum 2p SOSWA, I own the 'light' version in brown canvas. Great piece of kit! Great fun since you can cook right inside the tent using a bushbox.

I see that Scout is still just as crazy as he was when a pup. Training him looks like it's going well.

Go Joe!!! Nice campsite! Love the pine needle carpet. Makes for nice contrast against the green tent.
