While I've been working towards my Perfection rating, I've realized how boring it can be to continue farming hundreds of Starfruit to make money. To save you from that misery, I have a list of ways to make money outside of Farming, and to my surprise a few of them end up being more efficient than starfruit!

I agree it is cool and too many people go ‘its bad cause it takes up a ton of space and is nothing compared to the best money making in the game’ ignoring that it requires a lot less work, works on the farm all year long and you just need a few (even one) to make it worthwhile. Plus its fun diversifying.

The biggest takeaway here is the relative inefficiency of relying on wine. At 3m gold and "nothing else to do" in the endgame except doing the slow climb to 10m, I was envisioning a slow, grueling grind of planting seeds, making kegs, sleeping through the week, and getting immense profit only every Saturday in a long series of near-identical and monotonous weeks, but the guide shows that other approaches may be even more lucrative. I will definitely check out a mix of these. It definitely seems like the game has a lot more opportunity for variation than I had thought at first.
@mattlitton8066
@mattlitton8066 Год назад
I only have 380kegs and every Sunday I make 1.2 million if I can fill them all. Sometimes I can't and it is less. But if you frontload a ton of kegs I don't feel like loading kegs once a week is very monotonous. I mean it leaves you 5 days to do whatever you want (I say 5 accounting for if you plant and do kegs on seperate days, I do mine all in one day)
@UltimaTiger
@UltimaTiger Год назад
You can also start some of these things really early, like catch a fire eel in the mines in the first spring and get a pond going just to populate them, then you can fish up the new eels for m pond one to seed new ponds.
@UltimaTiger
@UltimaTiger Год назад
I should also mention that some of the other fish are less profitable but have some really interesting rare drops, like spookfish drop treasure chests worth 5k and the less expensive fish have easier or less quests to get the population up to 10, plus most of the rewards are for 9+ fish in the ponds so you can also fish off the 10th fish every 5 days to sell or seed new ponds.

Something I found useful for the late game if you're running low on stone and don't want to spend your days mining for it: 1. use the jade crystalarium and desert trader to get tons of stairs. 2. place all the stairs into a hopper that feeds into a deconstructor. each staircase will give you 99 stone, which is the same as you need for a crystalarium.

No joke, one of the best money makers is tea saplings. Go mush cave, stockpile your normal shrooms. When you have seed makers they become 1-3 fall seeds, then with some wood and fiber those become tea samplings that sell for 500g each. That isn't a huge number, but you can legit make thousands of them. It's actually kinda busted. And since we can farm fiber and buy wood, it's pretty easy to mass produce them. Even with year 2 wood cost, it's still worth it to bring your seasonal seeds and fibre to robins and buy as much wood as needed to make all the saplings. Also, add in all the forageables from each season, craft them in too, you can make so much money it's stupid lol

Thank you for the guidelines. I think we tend to forget about the time value of money (TVM) in the meta calculations. Money that's tied up in a longer investment is unable to pay certain dividends. For example in the time it takes to cultivate a batch of cauliflower, you can get 3 batches of parnsips. If we compound the profits of the parsnips (that is, invest 100% of the profits back into parsnips), then we can effectively double the yield each cycle. That means that after 3 cycles we'd get x^3 crops using the same amount of seed (pun unintended) capital. I hate economics.

This is more an early game strategy, but it's so strong it's worth keeping up if you have the time. Pick the mushroom cave, stock up on the common mushrooms, seed maker the mushrooms, you generally get about 10 fall seeds a day and you can just keep a chest as a few seed makers in the cave, so it's no extra time running around, then when you feel like it, craft all the fall seeds into tea saplings and sell them. It works out to about 2500g a day, so it's not as good as real late game stuff, but that's pretty strong considering how early you can have everything you need.

I made a farm with pigs, ancient fruit (ginger island), fairy rose honey and crystalariums. All that makes a total of at least 2.5 million gold a week, 3 M in a good one. I'm not convinced that the gold/day calculations here really make sense. Mostly just because these things happen in parallel. You can have your starfruit growing, being converted into wine and aging all at the same time. Sure, it takes wine a long time to age, but you're still growing and creating wine at the same time.

The issue with that for me is you'll usually have more harvests of wine in between aging. So what I do (ancient fruit) is while aging I sell 2 batches of wine while the first batch ages. This is still about 250k/week just on wine. I'm working on getting around to slime farms and am currently debating about dropping animals all together to focus on fish ponds. Ginger Island farm is being set up for fairy honey and starfruit wine currently. But I'm sitting on plenty of money I just wish there was a more consistent way of obtaining battery packs. I find I'm in short supply of them most often.

The gold/day calculations are off, it's actually much more for the wines. You can have the plants growing and the kegs fermenting at the same time, they are parallel processes, so you should only count the longer of the two times, not add them together. So the profit per day is almost double what he said.
@moonlightdragonrider
@moonlightdragonrider Год назад
There was another youtuber that pointed out that iridium quality goat cheese sells for 800g (1120 with artisan profession). If your goats are already at full friendship and give gold quality cheese, it only takes 7 days to age to iridium quality instead of the usual 14 (unlike wine that always starts at lowest quality regardless of the quality of the fruit). That's a 80g per day profit, compared to ancient fruit wine, which is 41.3 g per day, or starfruit wine, which is 56.3 g per day.
@Kidneyjoe42
@Kidneyjoe42 8 месяцев назад
Also, while cows make more money than goats, goats can narrow the gap by making better use of casks. If using casks for nothing but cheese, a full cellar can handle the cheese from 3 full barns worth of goats with only 1 extra per week that would need to be sold unaged at gold quality. The same number of cows will result in slightly over half the cheese needing to be sold at gold quality. As a result, the 3 barns of goats will make 99.3% as much money as the 3 barns of cows over the same period of time with half the milking and either half the cheesemakers or half the trips to fill them. For reference, goats make 87% as much money as cows if not aging the cheese.

@rs5922
@rs5922 3 месяца назад
I realize I'm commenting on an older video, but your method of calculating wine profit is, I believe, incorrect. You calculated (sell price - unit cost) / (time to grow + time to process). Unfortunately, that's only true if you, for example, don't plant the next Starfruit until you take the wine out of the kegs. Realistically, you're going to replant as soon as you harvest, then process as you wait for the next harvest. Assuming you have enough kegs, you'll be selling a batch of Starfruit wine every 8 days and a batch of Ancient Fruit wine every 7 days. This increases the per-day profit to 343.75 for Starfruit and 330 for Ancient Fruit.

Its good to note that the farming method is incredibly cheap on the time front. You can easily do pigs, farming, crystalariums, fishponds, and the slimes at the same time. (Mining and fishing for your resources requires more time commitment out of the day) Harvesting all of those goods and selling them/putting them in their refinement tech isn't particularly time-consuming,and you could use your excess time to go fishing, or complete anything you have left to do.

I used to farm truffles and make a great profit every day, but after a year I got so sick and tired of collecting daily. So instead, I'm shifting to more set-and-forget methods like sheep, and just going to the auto-collector whenever I want to make my profits. After first watching this guide a month ago, I've had some time to think and consider something crucial that wasn't explained very well in this guide: Scalability. The numbers work out something like this: * Starfruit: 43.75 g/day per fruit. * Starfruit Wine: 193 g/day per bottle. * Ancient Fruit: 78 g/day per fruit. * Ancient Fruit Wine: 174 g/day per bottle. * Fairy Rose Honey: 238 g/day per Bee House. * Diamond Crystalariums: 150 g/day per Crystalarium. * Slime Hutch: 986 g/day per Hutch. * Truffles: 4500 g/day per Pig. * Lava Eel Fish Ponds: 1053 g/day per Pond. * Fishing: Difficult to determine, but thousands of g/day. * Mining: Likewise. At a glance, it appears that farming comes out quite badly here, but that's before you consider how many instances of each strategy you can run in parallel. And that's where farming absolutely trounces every alternative. Starting at the bottom of the list and working (mostly) upwards: maximizing your earnings through fishing or mining would of course require you to spend all day fishing and mining, with your rewards proportional to the haul you'd find that day. The "moneymaking ceiling" is directly dependent on the effort (and luck) you put into it. As for the Fish Ponds, filling them is a bit of a chore, but a bigger limitation is the number of them you can fit on your farm. This method requires a very large commitment of space, harvesting time, and of course, levelling up the Ponds. In practice, you'd have to compromise a lot to be able to run more than a couple dozen Fish Ponds on your farm. Say those 1053 g/day can be multiplied with 24 or so, for a daily maximum income from this strategy around 25,000. Likewise, the Slime Hutch appears to be a good money maker, but it scales very badly. Setting up (and harvesting from) multiple Slime Hutches takes a lot of time, and each Hutch will only gain you about a thousand g/day. If you can run more than four on a farm without devoting all your time and space to it, I'd be impressed. Let's say this method will net you 4000 g/day at most. Truffles may possibly be the most easily scalable non-farming option, but your farm can still only fit a limited number of Barns with a limited number of Pigs per barn, and if you want to pet them, that's a huge daily time investment too. Not to mention that they will remain unproductive for approximately a third of the year (Winter + rainy days really add up). So, say, two dozen pigs at 4500 g/day, multiplied by 2/3 = 72,000 g/day on average. Bee Houses and Crystalariums are more easily scalable and require no maintenance, but it takes a lot to fill the farm with either of them. Bee Houses need to be near flowers, and unless you want to pick them up and set them down for every harvest, you have to plant them in patterns so they become accessible. Say you're able to put down 100 of them at your farm (or more realistically, Ginger Island - your farm wouldn't be able to sustain the production for more than a couple of weeks every year), that's 24,000 or so g/day. Crystalariums, you might fill a couple of Sheds with them. Let's say 400 Crystalariums in total, which requires a hefty investment (three full sheds, to start). That's 60,000 g/day. Farming, however, reigns supreme with the sheer number of plants you can have growing in parallel. You can easily have a couple hundred crops growing at the same time, plus an equal number of Kegs producing Wine, meaning those meagre 174/193 g/day can be multiplied by 3-400 with no problems. 110 Starfruit in the Greenhouse and 110 Kegs in a shed, that's 42,460 g/day year-round. And all you have to do is to fill and empty Kegs/the field every week or so. But you can easily have 300 more Starfruit growing on Ginger Island, and more sheds of Kegs, netting you profits well north of 100,000 g/day on average with maintenance only every 11 days. You can spend the remaining ten days fishing or mining. In conclusion, the Slime Hutch is not a good moneymaker. Fishing and mining can be, if you have the whole day to set aside for it. Fish Ponds require too much space and upkeep for the money you get in return. Truffles gets you good money, but with much upkeep. Crystalariums (Crystalaria?) require a high initial setup cost, but give free, low-upkeep money after that. Farming and wine, however, will net you ludicrous sums and very much spare time, and remain the uncontested champion of ways to make money in this game.

I make lots of wine. But also consider this. Have a fish pond with normal cucumbers, and plant some blue jazz and corn. In the greenhouse corn never dies. These are the ingredients for a lucky lunch. Eat one for +3 luck every time you go to the mines (it might also be good for fishing). Your mining expeditions will be much more rewarding.

what a lot of people always forget is to consider is the money you can make in a year by crops... As example... Just a simple calc: I Planted 1440 Crops (Starfruits and Ancients fruits) Had 189 Casks in my basement and 254 kegs. The endresult after one full year by just using this Crops and no island just the normal farm would be 11.113.200 Gold for Starfruits and 14.424.510 for Ancient fruits simply for the fact that I can Plant Ancientfruits in spring and starfruit earliest in Summer (Without the Greenhouse and the Island) The second thing is I does not need to speed their groth up they are harvestable 8 times in a year while starfruits need to get this amount of money in a year if you can not use speedgroth you make with this method just get 8.464.500 gold per year... Sure the Starfruit has the overall higher worth per day in the month they are growing and if you use them later on to make wine out of them but if you simply want to amke the most money in 1 year... use Ancient fruits... I made one of those year were I planted 1440 Ancient fruits and got 11.520 Fruits out of it... If I would have sold it all in that year my income would have been 14.424.510 Gold right now this one year has already over 30 Million gold just for making wine... I got the clock btw easy with this methode included my cute little 24 Pigs that are making truffles for me... Btw I do not know how often it rains in your game but my pigs make much more money... Btw your calc for the pigs I do not understand... My 24 Pigs making 40-45 Truffles a day... For your starfruit calc please calculate the cost for the vertilizer too+the money for the crops...btw is your calc with 42460g/day for starfruits not correct cause of your misscalc for the Crops...

While you are right to consider scalability, your estimations of how almost all of these would be used en masse are way off and you're seemingly deliberately portraying all of them in the worst possible light while ignoring any downsides to crops. What truffle farm only has two barns worth of pigs? Slime hutches are garbage, but how in the world is someone taking all day to pick up slime from just 4 hutches? And why is shed space and machine numbers a limiting factor for crystalariums but not the kegs that make crops worthwhile? Especially when in reality people can and do store both crystalariums and kegs off the farm in absurd numbers. Why is the set up like fish pond quests and crystalarium materials a problem when apparently building up ancient seed numbers and kegs isn't? Why are you assuming pigs have to be pet and that autopetters don't exist but then ignoring that any crop on the main farm necessitates tilling at least once a year (or growing fiber, but then that means manually cutting down ancient fruit or growing something less profitable in spring and fall), while the only other method that requires anything similar once set up is honey on the main farm and at a much smaller scale. You're also acting like scalability is the only thing that matters. Would more than a few fish ponds be a pain in the ass to harvest from and take up an excessive amount of space? Absolutely. But one lava eel pond is essentially zero effort to deal with and can be placed on untillable tiles. Honeymaxxing on the main farm would be dumb considering it only makes especially good money in one season. But a ginger island apiary isn't competing with junimo harvestable crops in terms of convenience and can be set up more efficiently since there's no need for flower access. And while the flowers have to be on tillable tiles, the bee houses themselves do not. Crops are the best moneymaker in the game, particularly when it comes to the balance of money, real time player effort, and scalability. But dishonest, one-sided comparisons aren't how you prove that. They also don't "absolutely trounce every alternative", even in terms of scalability. A crystalarium empire involves essentially the same amount of upkeep as filling kegs, is season agnostic even on the main farm, and has no need for tillable farm tiles. It is quite a bit slower to get going but even then, the materials needed synergize well with mining in the off time between harvests, which is itself quite profitable. And, most importantly, this video and the comparisons are not about doing any one thing in isolation and to the exclusion of planting crops. It's about the other things that make good money after a person has hit the limit of how many crops they want to deal with.

Love this video! I'm glad you factor out startup costs for late game -- they're irrelevant late game. But it would be great to somehow factor in player time as well as game time. E.g. crystalariums have fairly low player time required to harvest -- certainly less than fishing lava eels -- but you do have to go around and click on every device. Starfruit wine may sell for more, but requires replanting which is double (?) the player time of just harvesting. But definitely good to know that casks aren't very helpful (I'm still exploring and so far I haven't been impressed with casks).

My favorite way to make money in the later game stage is to fill up the land on my Ginger Island farm with pineapple plants. They never wilt or get eaten by crows, you get the seeds for free through various drops/golden coconuts, you never have to replant anything, and they sell for a fair amount of money. Dig a giant field, fill it with pineapples and iridium sprinklers, and you have a great passive source of money.

Nice video. Thanks for the info, didn't know about the flower honey. However, there is one thing that puzzles me: why the need to make so much money, so fast? The main character lands in the farm to escape the rat race. But by focusing on the money making side of the game, you bring the rat race right back in. Like, in the commentaries people complain how much time it takes to go around greeting the pigs. Personally I love "talking" to my animals, everyday, even if they already are at 5 hearts. I have lots of "unused" space in my farm, just for the pleasure of "living" in a place filled with trees (every season I need to chop down some just to be able to walk around). Seriously, I love the videos and tutorials about the game, but I don't understand the rush to make money.

one of my favorite ways to make a bit more money is aging cheeses, especially goat cheese. it's maybe also the best utilization of the casks, because popping gold-star cheeses into a cask will produce iridium-quality cheese in just seven days. though tossing in regular-quality cheese still only takes 14 days. a much shorter aging time than wine/pale ale/mead/beer. (and then the artisan profession bumps the profit up considerably too.) i haven't mathed the math, so it's PROBABLY (definitely) not as profitable as some of these other means in your video. but it's still profitable. and i enjoy petting and milking my cows and goats every day, letting the cheese stack up so i can run down to the cellar and replace all the iridium cheeses with new cheeses ready for aging.

Quite late to this video, but one of my favourite way to make some extra money (though I'm not how lucrative it is) in the game is farming monster loot in the skull cavern. Use monster musk to get extra monster spawn, get a hundred staircase or so, some bombs, get some luck buff like spicy eel or lucky lunch, and must wear three rings: burglar, slime charmer, iridium band, and the fourth ring can be any among: one more iridium band, napalm, vampire, or hot java. Your weapon should have the crusader enchant. Then enter skull cavern, there will be tons of monster for you to kill and their loot drop will be crazy. Once I spent a whole day in skull cavern like that killing mostly mummies and serpents, and ended up with 20 cloths, 3 rabbit's foot, not to mention many other knick knacks and lots of ores. Each cloth sell for 658 G so that's at least 13,000 G for one run.

I assume you'll talk about that later, but so far (at 5:00) you only looked at gold per day values, without really considering realism, efficiency or effectiveness. Not saying it's not interesting, but what I mean is that there is a comparison happening and just gold per day is bad. If something earns the most but has to be done 10 times a day per tile, and you cover your entire farm in it, then that's a horrible thing to do. Like the amount of effort going into that is crazy. And especially talking about Crystalariums here, they used to be by far the best money method after Pigs with an optimal setup. The reason is that Sheds can be bought and filled up with Diamonds. The "perfect" way would be to entirely fill them and then break what you need to get to all of them, but again talking about realism no one wants to do that. So it would have gaps to walk through and access all. But that means you can place an insane amount of them on your farm and even outside of your farm, though let's stay within the farm because time will eventually become a problem and if we consider outside of the farm, then we could always add them on top of any other method that beats the on-farm Crystalarium. And they are also quite comfortable since all you have to do is run by once a day and collect them, I liked to have the Sheds work in different time windows, so 1/5 was done on Day 1, 1/5 was done on Day 2 and so on. The best thing is that there is nothing that can go wrong, you don't have to plant anything, you don't have to consider seasons and there are no limitations space wise, you can pretty much just fill everything up until the last space is used. With 137 spaces (with walkways), the Big Shed can produce 133k every 5 days. That's just a single Shed. I don't quite remember how many you could put down, but if we go with "just" 15 (I'm pretty sure it was more), then you would earn 2 million every 5 days. The investment into it is huge, but you earn so much money you quickly forget about it. Setting up the first one will cost quite a lot, but the more you get the more the past ones will give profits and lead to you being able to afford the future ones without any amount of additional work. While 2 million every 5 days is an insane amount, the real question would be if anyone needs that much. As in, I think it would sound daunting for anyone to build, upgrade and fill 15 Sheds and they are definitely not needed given you can just sleep to skip time. And once the major purhcases are made, the money flow pretty much means it's near impossible to run out of money.

After watching this video, I was left with the impression that slime hutch is much better than for example starfruit wine - not realizing that it's comparing a singular starfruit to a building with 20 slimes. By a fairer comparison, instead of the slime hutch you could have a large shed with 80 starfruits and 40 kegs (80 40 because wine finishes twice as fast as the fruits grow). Same story with pigs. A better comparison would be 12 pigs to 80 starfruit and 40 kegs - except here you also have to account for the labor difference (with deluxe retaining soil you've to work only once every week). Beehives' comparison are objective and not deceptive though 👍

@@BorrasitoTakaTaka well not really. Full-friendship pigs sell for 20,800G, while a buying price is only 16,000G - meaning that you make 4,800G on each pig. As for friendship building - well, it does take time but not as long either. You get 15 points per day for petting the animal and aditional 7,5 points if you have an auto-petter present. Sadly, since you don't milk or shear the pigs, you don't get any bonus for that and in Winter they won't get to eat grass outside, so that won't be counted either. But still - at the end of the Winter you will end up with Pigs that have over 6 hearts (630 F points to be precise). With grass already present in Spring for the animals to eat you will have 10 heart Pigs by 11 Spring. Whether or not you want to do it, it's a different matter, but depending on luck with aditional Truffle generation mechanic, it very much can be profitable 🤷‍♀
@alicjak700
@alicjak700 4 месяца назад
@@carlosadrianzen3346 a full Friendship Pig has about 66% chance to produce aditional truffles (the check is run for each next truffle and stops once it fails), a Pig that was bought at the begining of Winter and was raised with love can reach 630 points of Friendship by Spring 1 - giving it about 42% chance for extra Truffles. It is a lot less, true but the Friendship will grow faster once the Pigs are able to eat grass outside and they can reach max Friendship by 11 Spring. On the swap, you earn 4,800G - which translates to about 4 Truffles. Now, whether old Pigs would find 4+ Truffles more than the new ones during those first 11 days of Spring is totally RNG based (you should include the possiblity of rain during those days when you don't earn anything from Pigs!), so in my book - it definatelly can be worth it 🤷‍♀

Yes, radioactive ore is very dependent upon luck (and to not be on a floor divisible by 5). If you have neutral daily luck (0), no special charm and no luck buff, then the chance to find radioactive ore on floor 1 is 0.101%, increasing to 0.219% on floor 119. With the best daily luck (0.1) and the special charm, that chance is increased to 1.06% on floor 1 and 1.18% on floor 119. And with a +11 luck buff (I think the best obtainable), that will increase to 1.23% on floor 1 and 1.35% on floor 119. And if you don't have luck buffs, and the daily luck drops to less than -0.01313 (the lowest is -0.1 or -0.075 with the special charm), then your chance to find it on floor 1 is 0.

You can produce wine while an ancient fruit or starfruit is growing using the previous batch's fruits. Therefore, you should have divided the starfruit income by only 8 and ancient fruit by only 7. This also applies to the casks but you're correct to say that they lower the gold/day calculation.

Since growing crops is not limited by them being turned into wine via kegs, you can layer your production (grow more ancient fruit every day while the previous round is in your kegs processing). This being said, the assessment needs to be done on the 7 day mark since over time that is your real turn around. Like I said, this is still a great video with a lot of fun ways to make money and single player games should be played for the individual players enjoyment. Just wanted to add my thoughts.

Also note that ostriches, unlike pigs, are year round!) Pigs: 1250g/click Ancient Fruit: 1155g/click (2 clicks: harvest and then put in a keg) Fairy Rose: 952g/click Lava Eel: 1582g/click...ish (with both the roe and fishing up an eel every 5 days... but fishing is a very slow click and ponds take up a lot of space so...)

Just fill your greenhouse once with ancient fruit, let it all grow and then harvest it all, every week you will have another batch, you convert it to wine and have as much as you can in the basement. This isn't really a fast way to make money but it is a minimum cost way to start making money. @@salmence100yeah i think people misinterpret your g/day estimation when talking about aging. Of course you don’t loose money aging. The only way you could loose money aging is if you plan on investing it to make more money. What I think most people do is just letting it pile up until they can buy all the expensive stuff like obelisks and golden clock. In that case just cask all the wine you can and sell the rest, the casks will increase the sell price but give it to you later.

I know it probably isn't as strong as Star fruit or ancient fruit but I've found that sweet gem berries can make over a million gold using the ginger island farm but it takes a long time to set up with seed makers.

Sometimes I get a full deluxe coop and fill it with chickens and turn the eggs into mayonnaise and then I repeat until the end of the month and then I sell them

I know I'm late, but preserve jar is much better than keg (gold/day) if you are using ancient fruit or starfruit

I don't know if you know about this, but if you buy furniture cataloge from robin and craft some looms. You can put yellow couches in looms and create cloth. For now I have 17 looms and with artisan profesion I get 44k a day

Another good one for the fishing ponds is the Spooky Fish, it gives the treasure chest, but it requires a population of 9 fishes and have 0.3% chance. Still the aged roe is 280g (392g with the bonus). If it doesn't gives you roe, it will give you a treasure chest. idk if it can be useful or not but there's that.

0.3 is so small you might as well just do rainbow trout for the chance to get a prismatic shard for 0.1%

Never heard of a white slime farm but I figure that you're going to want purple slimes and have it in your farm also is it possible to get a tiger slime farm for the sake of getting tiger slime eggs I hear they're very expensive

Put on the hot java ring and do dangerous mines spider levels on a bad luck day with a monster musk on. You can legit fill a 999 stack of coffee without issue, good chunk of triple shot too.

I didn’t know Lava eels were so rare, I ended up catching 2 while doing Linus’s trash quest and thinking “Oh neat, didn’t know these were here” and sold one and kept the other. Plus pigs are goated I just realized how much they made me as I ended up with 3 accidentally and I make about 16k per day with selling just the truffles.
