Eye opening numbers on the Toyota champ! This is why I follow you’re not afraid to learn along with us as you teach! The last 30 seconds was hilarious!
Reallly good conversation. Sounds like a fine young man. Props to you, Brad, for stressing the importance of staying in school and getting that degree! and also the value of networking. Great message.
Buddy, that’s a great video, kids are unbelievable on electronics, Bradley, I am 55, so yeah, I am still old school, I live on Pickwick and it’s a lot different now, great on the age difference now 😢😢
You can listen to any amount of observations on this same thing. From an angler such as Kelly Galloup in that world, and that side of the industry. His data points are strangely similar to what you mention about the age profile of the participants in the gear tackle angling side. Kellk Galloup attributed the interest that he witnessed over the last fifteen or so years in fly fishing, amongst the younger age group (Kelly's point being, that fly fishing was this 'retirement' age thing, guys with tweed clothing who had nothing better to do). That was the world that Kelly himself grew up in. And at some point all that flipped upside down. I've listened to him say it in several interviews. This is the first time though, I've heard someone mention it on the gear tackle side (part of Kelly's theory is that 'fly making' products were the biggest waste of retail space in tackle stores ever invented). And he had gotten rid of that entire section of product in his stores once or twice. Just writing it off as a failure. Until he explained, the internet came around. And suddenly guys started learning how to do that from each other (Kelly explained that growing up, he didn't know what was the right way to make a fly, he had to just guess).
One of the most interesting conversations about 'line types' I've come across in a while. The guys at the Hook Up store in Arizona, who do 'desert' bass angling there. Braid or Fluorocarbon, which is better? They're coverage of the iCast events is something that is regularly enjoyed by viewers on the European side of the pond. And there are a few episodes each year like their one on lines, and where different lines came from. How they are made etc. Are worth a listen. I remember when the first fluorocarbon leaders came to lakes in Ireland, and boatmen there or guides who had guided for half a century realized what 'cheap' fluorocarbon leaders could do. They wouldn't allow fluorocarbon in their boat. It got banned.
They talk about sinking braid, and floating braid lines too. Neutral braid lines (intended to have same density as fluorocarbon lines you might be using), and even weighted types of braids.
The Anchored podcast channel had a recently dropped episode with Tommy Lynch. Tommy is one of those anglers again in fishing in the northern Great Lakes area. That just has a lot of ideas about how to fish that part of the world, and how fish respond in different weathers and water conditions. It's aimed mainly at fishing for those larger fish in the trout or bass area. I always enjoy what he has to say.
Livescope is a big deal on Hartwell. I live 5 minutes from Greenpond and watch the guys on Hartwell hammer them while I’m still using 2d sonar. A lot of the local hammers are on the water 3 to 4 days a week getting ready for whatever tournament is going on that weekend.
Man I thoroughly enjoyed this one, that kid is going places with bass fishing,he gotta be good with a last name like Clark, lol, good stuff, cool to see the young guns and how the go about doing things
Bradley I know that the technology has played a big role in the surge of knowledge that the these younger fisherman have. But I think it also has a lot to do with what they have learned from people just like yourself.
Lane is ok...:P I thought the reason you got there early was to talk to me at the bait shop? LOL Lane has a great circle and he's been smart to listen and adapt that to his fishing. He's got all the talent in the world!! Good luck Bradley in the Elites!!
You would think this Lane kid would have enough respect for such a legend like Hallman to at least set the date for the interview and be in his home or room. Total lack of respect doing this interview in the truck in some parking lot. Wow!
I'm living large ! BTL - Bass anger & now this ?!!! Helped pass some time on the forklift 👍 That 40yr. drop in ages 😲 I liked the mentality of him. It must be something for you to take notice, which ain't easy with you. Not saying nothing bad, but after the years you've put into this sport - just saying it takes a little something extra for that to happen. I'm liking where you're going with this you tube stuff. Soooo looking forward to the drops that are coming this year. The dirt, good - bad - indifferent. Hallman being Hallman, sign me up all day long. Tick, tick - we're getting there. Hope the boat retrieval went well. It was a little sketchy out that way. You headed out with Souk ? or meeting up down there? Long drive and hoping you got someone on the road with you. Been something in the air lately smells like Blue 🤫🙏
