Your little mystery spring may be where all the water in Cali has collected, LOL! Some great shooting! I'm always impressed by anyone who can hit dove. I'm great with quail and clay pigeons but the dove are safe... Your hunt looked fun. Thanks for sharing! Take care and be well!
@@desertdogoutdoors1113 That's the same thing with my dove hunting except my dove seem to be just fine afterwards, not a feather out of place! Take care!
I’m one of a very few that take advantage of the 2nd leg of dove season in Deep South Texas. My tactics are similar to upland hunting in that it’s more stalk n shoot. Open plowed grain fields and picking them off as they fly from tree to tree. Put on a good pair of walking boots and move one choke up.
I love second split dove hunting. It's more like upland hunting than the first split, cooler weather, and I'm not as concerned with rattlesnakes than in September.
Good hunting video I hope you and your family are doing well and I also loved you quail Beginners video I hope you were post more quail hunting videos now that the quail season is open thanks and good hunting
If you don't mind me asking. You did a video on a Browning X-Bolt a year or so ago. Would you be able to tell me the scope series and size, and the rings and size you have on that? Thanks a lot.
What choke size would you suggest to move up to during late season? This is my first Dove season and already excited for the late season to get here ! I’m already going to invest in decoys because I wasn’t sure if I would like dove hunting but I love it now!
You need to let the pattern board tell you what choke to use. Every gun/ammo/choke combo is going to pattern differently. Set up your pattern board at late season dove distances, and try to achieve good centered patterns with different chokes.
Nice hunting. I always enjoyed late season dove as much if not more than early season for a lot of the same reasons you noted. Do you hunt ducks? If so it would be great to see a waterfowl video from you.
You have any good resources for dove identification? As a newer hunter even knowing what birds are doves and how to tell the difference would be really useful.
Doves are the easiest of all game birds to identify in flight. They have that elegant swept-back wing profile, long tail, and they fly like they are effortlessly swimming through the air. Just go to a place where doves frequent, and watch them for a little while; you'll be identifying them like a pro within an hour.
@@desertdogoutdoors1113 much appreciated, I definitely need to get out there more. I'm planning a hike for quail based off some of your previous videos, and have a few duck trips planned for the season, now to find time to at least go watch doves!
Thanks for the reminder that mourning doves are fair game again. Feel free to chime in on this-. If you are out quail hunting and shoot an incidental dove or two, is that technically illegal if you don't have a plug in your gun?
Look up your state game laws and seasons. In my state (California), on any given day between November 13 and December 27; I can shoot Quail, Dove, Pheasant, Chukar, Snipe, Turkey, and Ducks on the same day. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE YOUR PLUG IN YOUR GUN WHEN HUNTING GAME BIRDS in California and most states!!!!! It is illegal to hunt any of these birds with a gun capable of holding more than three shells in the magazine and chamber combined in my state. They will write you a big ticket and confiscate your shotgun if you are caught hunting without that plug.
Actually.. There's a year round Dove I can hunt .. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HqTengPHaD4.html&ab_channel=CDFW @@desertdogoutdoors1113
