I'm glad you pointed out the difference between stepping and pushing off. I am not the quickest to begin with. I could never land a step in jab because everyone could see it coming. But I have to step in because I'm short for my weight (or fat). Well I literally raised my front foot slightly to step and jab until I watched golovkin and realized he was pushing off the back leg, not stepping with the front foot. Now I either land the jab downright or at least get them closer to the ropes. Especially when I do it as a double jab. Way more efficient to get inside than all those tysonesque head movement manoeuvres that have me gas out after 2 rounds
You're a master!!! What a fantastic way to explain the boxing fundaments, I've learnt a lot from your videos and certainly improved. Keep it up! I wish I could be trained by you for 1 week.
Thanks as always Franz. These techniques you display also help in fitness and coordination training as well as just fighting. Cheers mate. You can make a dance out of it to combat the stresses of this wicked world.
Beautiful work very simple effective and precise but what I really love about this session is how you explained what true up close is and how to use your legs to move with more power and precision gonna start teaching this along with the angles once I master it of course.
Hi Fran, today Billam Smith fights our man Mateusz Masternak for WBO title. Masternak is good technical fighter, it will be an interesting confrontation. Cant wait to see how it goes 😎
How can I fight or learn self defence if I am very short 5"2 (159cm) Do you have some advices for very short guys, how to adapt your height to boxing to get the most of it and stop complaining about beeing short
Of course. I’m 39 and I started boxing a few months ago. I’m really enjoying it. I feel stronger and fitter than ever. I’ve Lost 15 kilos in 3 months as well which is a bonus
Jesus I can’t explain in words how right the timing of this video is. I was just about to ask in the comments of the short you uploaded recently about weight shifting but I didn’t. Thank you for the video sir.
Did a couple of rounds of the angled side step on the bag today then tried it out in sparring. It’s brilliant for me as I’m southpaw so it takes me around the opponents lead hand.
