I remember that from the GDR, many voted against the system or Honecker and still only one party won....with almost 99%. It's no different in Russia! Elections are useless if there is no basis for free elections or even democracy.

They didn't misguide you. The conflict was mainly in Rostov on Don. It never reached Moscow, even though that was the original plan. Russia is a huge country, so most of it was unaffected.
