No, we're perfectly capable of feeding 10 billion people, but we won't have to. The world's population will never hit 10 billion, not because of famine or war, but because we stopped having enough children about 30-40 years ago. It is already too late now to stop of the catastrophe of population collapse that is coming.

India is amazing. India has long been number one in world population. Ancient China's territory was enormous on a global scale because it waged many wars of conquest. India was much smaller in territorial size than China. Nevertheless, India ranked first in world population. India is truly amazing.

Everything depends of the number of yearly births and average life-span of a human born today. In Europe and East Asia it is around 80 years now. Births in Europe are now 7M/y and China 10M/y, while India has 35M/y and Africa 45M/Y, but that amount keeps on growing. Do the math and with 130-140 M births/year, we end up somewhere between 10 and 11 billion, on condition India and Africa and also muslims stop exploding.

@pawel82x absolutely not. Nobody can predict what the medicine in the future will look like especially now with AI. The average lifespan of a human being could increase significantly and this would make your projections incorrect.

@@MarioRoggeroE Nobody can predict future but based on current trends population will be decreasing. Most of countries have fertility rate below replacement level and all of the countries have decreasing fertility rate. It is not about of expected lifetime but low no of children.

@@pawel82x please do not rush. We are talking about 100 years from now before the total world population start shrinking! This is an insane amount of time, now in the era of AI. In 100 years we will be in the technological singularity and God only what the progress of the technic for that time. For sure we won't run out of baby for 1 century and after nobody know, maybe in the future we will get again the replacment level. For now the only thing for sure is that we will reach 11 bilions of peoples on heart by 2100. Are those enough for you?

All of these predictions seem to think the population decline will be slowly when in reality the less people there are means less people to have kids. With crashing fertility rates globally i expect the population to be much less than this video thinks. China, Japan, South Korea and Italy are already in full on decline.
