Please, do not do this sweeping movement with the chip filter!! Especially not when you are wearing thin latex gloves... Usually I don't freak out about safety issues, but even from a minor scratch you can get serious fungus infection.

Not to mention you're petting a large cactus with thin nitrile gloves

Very True! It was a prickly cactus and the sweeping motion was, admittedly, more of an involuntary action than anything else. Immediately following the clip you saw I actually used a shop vacuum to get rid of the rest of the chips. Thanks for bringing this up!

I did field service on cnc , and I am glad I am retired, I could align a 2 axis lathe in about 4 hours, now just removing covers on a 3axis with a tool changer and a sub spindle might take 4 hours, crashes on multi axis machining centers and turning centers are so much worse, and even a light hit on 20,000 rpm spindle is bad, what suprised me ceramic bearings, the ceramic balls didnot shatter but left dents in the steel race

i have a problem on VF3: low air pressure during tool changing that not clean tool from metal. where i can read about that part, how long air have to blow, what pressure must be and others

Djohn Rambo - Having a low air problem during a tool change is most often due to not having enough air volume. A tool change requires a large volume of air, when the air problem occurs during tool changes the most common cause is an air compressor that is too small. Take a look at these videos, hopefully they help - Haas Automation ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ajNg1b3rRR8.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sS3nv-esHAY.html

So much wrong beinbg told., All CNC machines need to have a skimmer, do not just pump 3 pumps pf grease into the chuck. To much grease is as bad as not enough. Do not use your hands to brush of chips. Air blow then wipe chips. WTF are they thinking today.

Two old farts in an RV, In response to your comments: As much as we’d love to sell an oil skimmer with every machine, many machines will never need a skimmer. If the quantity of tramp oil/grease/dirt being carried into the machine by your parts is on the low side you will probably never need a skimmer. In our factory only those machines that run oily parts have oil skimmers and this is also what we find out in the field talking with our customers. If you need it, buy it. If you don’t, spend the money on something else. Our recommendation on greasing your chuck is that more than enough is always better than too little. Proper lubrication ensures longer service life and most importantly that your chuck is developing maximum gripping force which keeps your turning operations reliable and safe! In fact our recommendations are quite similar to those found on the chuck-eez.com website. As far as using your hands to brush off chips, you are correct. It’s definitely best to use gloves if you need to get your hands involved. And using the air gun is a good first step to clear chips from inside the machine as shown in the video. You probably don’t want to use the air gun on the chip tray, better to use the chip brush here.

@@haasautomation Thank You for responding. I forget how much has changed over the years. I started programing CNC back in the late 70's. Back in those days, machines leaked way lube like crazy. Nice to hear all the changes.
