Re the Sunday shows in the PH, it was only pre-recorded in the recent years due to the pandemic but pre-pandemic everything was happening live! There are two major TV networks (ABS-CBN vs GMA) that showcase performances of major artists and singers in their respective Sunday shows SIMULTANEOUSLY. So you can choose either one depending on which performing artists you prefer (usually, the show hosts and performers have a contract with the channel so they cannot perform in the rival network) or you can switch channels every 10 minutes LOL.

Yes, this happens every Sunday noontime. I can't remember how long it runs but I think it's about 2-3 hours (including the tons of commercials) because I remember watching these shows while my mom was cooking until lunch and even after I have digested the food in my stomach 😁 Sometimes people fight over the remote to switch channels bc their fav artist is on the other channel.
First, when I first saw the thumbnail, I thought Efra is playing character from the sixty or the seventy until I read your comment it's your dad 😯. Afra is the speed image of your dad, handsome. Listening to your dad is very enjoyable and I can see a part of him in you beautiful Waleska ❤

Here in the Philippines, there are 2 main networks that constantly do talents searches for the next new singer and produces these segments that air almost everyday of the week. We have noon time shows that have singing contest segments monday to saturday (tawag ng tanghalan, etc.) Bigger singing/talent shows during saturday evening usually (the voice, your face sounds familiar, etc) Noontime shows on sundays with singing segments Sometimes, the shows that air on saturday evening air on sunday evening as well.
First time I saw the pod from which Efra is cloned from. Basically the same pea from the built, movement, to the speaking voice. Your dad though is more softspoken and more restrained. It is clear now that your fascination with Filipino music performers is not faked because you get your dad into it.

the host, Sharon Cuneta, was herself a pop icon back in the 80s. the go-to artist for songs and acting. that was for channel 2. their rival, channel 7 had their own stable of artist. We did suffer a dark period when Kring Kring wanted to be a singer. she couldn't sing even if to save her life but... she kept trying lol. props to your dad!
Yes thats true, theres a lot of people involved in these kind of shows! Networks in the Phil have inhouse musical arrangers that always thinks of what type of music is fitted for every performers, in house band, inhouse make up artists, technicians, outfit stylist etc etc
