Each Passing Night reminds me of my high school days. I think it was released in 1990. This song featured Regine Velasquez voice. That time, Regine was only 19 years old and a newbie in music industry.
This song was released in 1990 and brought back so many great memories of highschool. Thank you for your reactions! I've loved both Gary and Regine for over 28 years because of this song!❤❤❤
2:39 'Hijacked!' lol. The student truly has become the master. In '89, the establshed superstar gary v gave the short 'back-up' line to a then upstart teenager (19?) regine, hence her entry as one of the 'back-up' singers in this concert Who knew this song would end up as one of the most iconic OPM (filipino music) collabs evahhh
When this song came out, Gary V's record (1989), long time ago, Regine was featured as a back-up vocal, but still featured, her part was only really a snippet. In fact, when I first listened to it (way way back) I didn't know then that it was Regine, until I read the... you know how "cassette tapes" then had those paperback descriptions and all (I don't know what they're called). Gary mentioned her name there, and I listened to it again, and yes, indeed it was Regine. Gary V then was very famous already compared to Regine. And then of course, she soared high with her own fame!
this Gary's song was a huge hit more than 25 years ago when Regine was on her way establishing herself in the industry. Regine has so much respect to Mr. Pure Energy!
Gary was ahead of Regine in the music industry. Gary is one of those already established singers who admired and supported Regine in her early years. Regine was already kind of popular, but was not yet the diva that we know her now. This song is not really a duet. Gary just decided to use Regine’s voice as a back up vocal for this track in his album, singing a small part yet with ear catching high notes. When Gary released this song in the early 90’s and was played on the radio, people were like, “who’s that girl doing back up?”. Regine only sang a small part, yet she’s the one that made the song interesting. She was very grateful to Gary for giving her a break back then.
Yeah, i was 2nd yr HS back then and listening to it was like, "Oooh woooww, who was that again?". Then, i would always wait for the song to be replayed on air over and over again (FM radios were a hit back then).
Gary have this mannerisms that his like having a seizure when he hits high notes and he has this distinct well modulated voice. And the giant vain in his neck, but his a music icon.
This is actually how Regine got her start in the 80s. After winning a local singing competition, she became the backup singer to Gary V and Martin Nievera. I remember distinctly when this song came out, asking who is doing the backing vocals. It was ridiculously high. The rest after that is history.
Regine was just starting to be recognized when she got featured in this song. Reminds me of then Chaka Khan always doing guest vocals on some artists before she hit it big.
They recorded this song back in the 80s if im not mistaken. During that time Regine was literally just a back up vocals for this song singing really just that small part.
Yes! This was an original Gary V song feat. Regine back in the 90s. I remember that old gary v concert and regine sang this with him. There was also that Sharon Cuneta show featuring her fave singers and Gary sang this song with Regine singing her belting part sitting down hehe
This song was Regine's first recorded song... as backing vocals to Gary's 1989 hit. I was in this concert, and yes, it was quite a surprise when she came out from the back.
You better guys react to Regine and Jona's I believe I can fly and Regine and Morisette's duet of Akin ka na lang and you are my song Also, this song has been almost two decades, but Regine sang it in the same key and the highest note here was more sustained than her previous version. She gets better and better through the years.
Youknowwho yup, and no one else sings it in the same key. When Sarah G and Katrina V sang it with Gary V, they transposed the entire song a half-step lower!
Hey MGN! Thanks for your continuing reaction to all talented artists especially Filipinos.. and MAngel.. thanks for liking my tweet haha.. I am "89thwarrior" and I'm following you both..
I keep on coming back to this reaction video of yours. Haha I just so love this especially the surprise part. Love your reaction guys. When Queen Regine was singing her part Ovela: was that Regine? That's Regine M-Angel: I was gonna say is it? Then Queen Regine's hitting the high notes M-Angel: Yeah okay (it's like saying that's Regine's trademark) lol Plus Ovela's super cute reaction. Haha!! Love you guys!!!
Each Passing Night came out when I was in my teens. Regine was - really - featured in the song. Here’s an older performance of the two ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l5Jl4RjALbI.html
You can only hear small parts of Regine because this is not a duet. On the original track, she just sounded like a descant to the situation. This is a hard moving on break up song in a man's perspective and Regine answered back like a nightmare-ish the-one-that-got-away persona
Actually you can see her walk in from the right at 1:36 because they dimmed the lights a little too late, and you can also hear part of the crowd already screaming in excitement coz they'd figured out what was about to happen. Haha
Wondering why regine appeared and stand besides the back up singers? Its because way back then regine is the back up singer in this song...so humble beginning!
Actually in the Philippines, Gary V is like the male counterpart of Regine Velasquez. They were considered one of the, if not the greatest Filipino performers of all time. Those two people before would always fill the stadiums and sell albums like crazy. There was a time when if you say a Filipino male singer, the first name that would come to mind would be Gary Valenciano. He can sing, he can belt (esp. before), he can dance like crazy (HE'S THE FATHER OF RU-vid SUPERSELFIE GUY GAB VALENCIANO) and he can play numerous instruments. He has a very high level of musicality. of course some Filipinos would argue that the position goes to Martin Nievera. You reacted to him with his broadway medley with Regine. but for me, Gary V was a more versatile performer. but Martin comes a very close second in my list.
You might be interested of listening to "Sino ang Baliw" sung by Kuh Ledesma and Regine Velasquez. It is a Filipino song actually that discusses society. It would be really hard to translate it however it is beautiful song and a beautiful rendition by them. Please, please, pretty pleaas
way back when this song realeased regine is not famous singer he requeseted by gary its annoyong hearing this two telling that reqine blessed gary., its garry who blessed regine because he help her in her starting her journey
