The very first ever vocalist of south border is Briggs Feraris that is the time when south border is so famous. I can say Briggs is the original voice of all the songs of south borcder. Fyi.
Whoaaaa 💯 this is one thing I really really love both of you because of a detailed reaction, literally it's sooo good i've watched most of your reaction vedios uploaded. South Boarder is my no.1 fave. You're both part of my morning routine while still bed watching🤗 everyday. I love you both ❤️💯. Blessings 💙 and Keep safe 😷

Jay durias “might” be the reason why southborder keep changing vocalist, because he’s a perfectionist (they said). But damn! We cant deny he is a musical genius. The fact that you’re a member or ex-member is a an honour. You being picked by jay durias (a musical perfectionist).. you must be very talented. Ah i love them!!!
So basically accdg to google. the band started in 1993 in Davao but gained national recognition in 1996 through their hit songs "May pag-ibig pa kaya" (Jimmy Antriporda song) & "Kahit kailan" with vocalist Brix Ferraris. By 1998 Brix left the band & were replaced by Luke Mejares. "Sa'yo" (r&b), "reborn" (jazz-ish) & "habang atin ang gabi" are their songs that became prominent. In 2002, Luke left the band, enters Duncan Ramos (2002-2007) & Vince Alaras (2002-2007; 2012-2014), where their song "Rainbow" became hit with the songs "Ikaw nga" (Tv series "Mulawin" OST), "The show" & "Brown hand smash" (R&B) In 2007 both left the band & Kell Gatdula (2007-2010;2014-present) became the lead vocalist. Other members also came and go, only Jay Durias from the original members was left. > On June 26, 2020, they were featured as guest performers on The TODAY Show on NBC & were dubbed as the "Boyz II Men of the Philippines"

The transition of the human voice to sax was and still a legend!!!!! That's how south border put their signature in our hearts, just to tell you guys F.Y.I Mr. Jay Durias sang this song when they didn't have a vocalist he hit the high note as well, south border for life. Kahit kailan is my song for my wife, until now a nd forever..........................
One of the reasons Kahit Kailan is so popular is because of that part in the song where the falsetto smoothly transitioned into a saxophone. That's the recording by South Border's first vocalist, Brix Ferraris. Again, this is a dream piece for male vocalists.
That crowd control silence waleska said was like hingang malalim (a deep breath) before the steep climb to that peak note. Jay Durias is such a masterful storyteller. Love love love them.
Brix Ferraris version of this song is still the best for me. I remember the first time I watched South Border perform this song live on TV. I was really amazed how Brix voice seamlessly blended with the saxophone. For me this is the representative song of this band. As in if I hear South Border I immediately think of Kahit Kailan.
Please react to “d original vocalist ‘ brix Ferraris the reason why “southborder’s music stuck till this time. I heard all of the vocalist but Brix ‘ voice is one of a kind .
I used to watch them live every Tuesday night at the “Limits” club but with their first vocalist Brix Ferraris. He sang this song every week but I never get tired of it. I believe he did the best version of this song however I doubt if you’ll be able to find an old video of his performance as it’s early 90’s and since there was a bad falling out with the rest of the band, I doubt Jay Durias would release any old footage with Brix on it.
@@catwomanvillain6576 The Abela Brothers? They reacted to the performance with the 3rd batch of South Border vocalists. Brix Ferraris - original Luke Mejares - 2nd batch Duncan and Vinz - 3rd batch Kell - 4th batch.
Luke Mejares nailed that high note transition to sax perfectly and live performance at that 😍. But still Brix Ferraris was the best co-vocalist of South Border 👌. Nice reaction guys. Keep iit up.
Yes, this is the song that made them. They are from the Southern part of the Philippines that's why the bands name is Southborder. They came in at a time that famous bands are usually from "Metro Manila" or their Seoul. And here comes a band from the south and they play R&B instead of alternative which is what was the thing back then. Try to listen to Ikaw Nga its an OST from a TV Show here.😁
When you think of South Border, automatically it's Kahit Kailan. This is their most popular song and we all love it then and now!!! #Timeless P.S. The high note to sax transition is the classic trademark of Kahit Kailan :)
I love Luke. I guess among SB's vocalist he's the 2nd for me. First will be Brix for me, I think for most of SB's fan. The transition @ 5:54 from Jay to Luke to Ric (Saxophonist) is way to smooth like butter with Brix. Unfortunately, there's no video or live of him when he was still with SB singing this song & love of my life.
@@ncs_hellothere TOTOO NAMAN MAS MAGALING C BRIX FERRARES E KESA KE LUKE AT UNG C DUNCAN..IBA DATING NI BRIX SA LAHAT..UNG NATURALITY OF WAY NIA NG MUSIC OF SOUTHBORDER..SAYANG AT NAWALA SIA
Argh! Why am i crying in this reaction video of Kahit kailan,😁 this is one of my favorite song♥️ and also one of my favorite band... When he went from low to high note then there is saxophone,, THAT is my favorite part of the song♥️ and I super love your reaction to that😘😘😘 its always mind blowing☺️
Originals vocalists of South Border is Jay Durias and Brix Ferraris. Brix was replaced by Luke Mejares, which in turn was replaced by Duncan and Vince. Therefore, Luke was not the singer in the original CD/Tape.
Guys, the sickest lead vocalist of south border is the one before Luke and he's the original and shook all Filipinos when they first released that song Kahit kailan. His name is Brix. He was so good, man. Apparently, he was a wife beater that's why Jay kicked his ass out of the band. But I'm telling that dude got the sickest vocals. Look for the original track of Kahit kailan that was sung by Brix and you think you're blown away by that performance just wait. South border took them forever to find someone remotely close to Brix so they can still sing that song Kahit kailan. That's when the legend of south border started.
Love the smooth high-pitched end as it transitioned to saxophonist playing solo...really awesome! South Border is my ultimate fave band in mid-90s to early 2000s. "Kahit Kailan" still stayed to be the best hit that time.
Shout out to the filipinos who tried to copy that high and long note and almost d!ed because they even tried to copy the instrument's part thinking that it was still his voice 😂
it was nyoy volante who started it then everyone just followed suit including me lol. check out Shay's reaction to me singing that song at Padi's 3 years ago. 😁😁😁
Bro you're not the only one 😂 i remember me and my brother when we were younger trying to sing this song and even now everytime it plays on our playlist
The 'genius' behind South Border is Jay Durias...he is the man. All its lead vocalists--from the first, original (Brix Ferraris) then to Luke Mijares and then two others. But, this particular song, "Kahit Kailan" remains the most popular and being sung by all it's audiences in live concerts like an anthem. That smooth transition from the lead vocalist's high & long tone thru saxophone 🎷 solo act was truly epic, highlighted the superb musical arrangement like no other live act in Philippine music scene. Bravo, South Border!!!👏🎶🎷
Very Very few actually reacted to this video of south border, i'm really addicted at watching the faces they make when they hear the transition, i'm like "Now you know, now you know!"
From what I can remember, Kahit Kailan with Brix Ferraris on vocals made them a household name. Then Rainbow amongst all their other hits. They would be on a lot of the noon time shows and ASAP.
They emerged in the late 90's during the latter days of rock and hip-hop in the Philippines. So their music was really new and fresh. The male falsetto and the love-struck lyrics just get the Pinoys everytime. 😀
What ALL LIVES BANDS do, we play live gigs and record them. While playing live gigs we EXPERIMENT and PLAY around. From there we listen to our LIVE PERFORMANCE then pick up the GOOD parts and the NOT SO GOOD parts. We take out the not so good and we Keep Doing the BEST parts of the previous ones. You could also here and see the audience reactions during the live performances during gigs.
6:11 is the catch of that song. really amazing even until now. here's the original audio with Brix : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-70aFRCPtQ8Q.html
Hi guys! Just a little bit of clarification, Jay Durias did not compose MAPA of SB19. He was one of the producers of the track but the words and the melody was written by Pablo, SB19's leader.
Entry of the day: Luke Mejares and Duncan Ramos singing Love of my life and Kahit Kailan with Sarah G in one performance ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bIQ2RXNipRc.html
They have quite a few hits. Kahit Kailan, Rainbow and Love of My Life are the well known ones. These are the songs usually covered by other artists. Another one would be Ikaw Nga, which became so well known because it was used as an OST of a tv drama here. Maybe you could try reacting to Habang Atin Ang Gabi(lit. While The Night Is Ours) or Wherever You Are. 🤔I'm not quite sure if I'm correct but they are one or maybe the only band who made it into mainstream who has a sax player? For me, their music brings such an ambiance just by listening to it, whether live or prerecorded.
When I was young, I watched South Boarder performed it live in a free concert in Enchanted Kingdowm. My sister and I was lucky to be infront. I was amazed when they sang Kahit Kailan.😉
Jay Durias, keyboardist and main composer, admittedly said that he had been so strict to their vocalists which caused 4 diff. guys since 1994 to be pressured and had a hard time living up to expectations :)
they're style was some sort of slow Earth Wind & Fire... they tried to capture the dynamic of Maurice White and Philip Bailey. this particular version with the falsetto blending with the saxophone was inspired by a live performance of "Reasons" by EW&F
OMG. All time favorite band. 1st vocalist Brix Ferari 2nd vocalist Luke Mijares 3rd Duncan Ramos and Vince Alaras Now they have new members as well. But nonetheless, southborder will always be southborder through their songs and music Invite Jay Durias (pianist)on you podcast. That would be awesome😍
Brix Ferraris was the original singer. They had a falling out and the fans was devastated. But Luke Mijares filled that shoes quite nicely when Brix left. Jay have always been the man behind this bad. And their songs was so good even after Luke left.
Goddamn! the way that saxophonist catches the same tone of Luke's falsetto when He's doing that long falsetto line and bringing the transition into the saxophone freestyle.. Holy crap! Brix Ferraris might be the original but you gotta admit that Luke made a hell of a version of this song. Classic!
yeah, Efra was right. It is because of this song they had a big break. But because of the voices of Brix and Jay that made this song very very timeless. And I think they are the most successful "RnB" band in the Philippines.
Kahit Kailan was a theme song of a popular fantasy TV Series "Mulawin" in the early 2000s. This song is just one of the breakthroughs that added to the movie that catapulted them more to great popularity
SB19's MAPA was written/composed & co-produced by Pablo (Leader). It is co-produced by Simon Servida, Jay Durias, Pablo's brother. Creative Director SB19's Justin De Dios, Choreography by SB19's Stell & Tank B. With other inputs from SB19's Ken & Josh.
Bands were a big thing back in the 90’s and early 00’s in the Philippines. They were like the younger version of Side A, their songs were almost always guaranteed to top the charts, the lyrics had meaning, and radio stations always played their music non-stop. Side A, South Border, and Freestyle are my top three bands during those days. I love watching their concerts.
They’re unrivalled because no one else does what they do. ( I mean amongst bands) And if I’m not mistaken they’re the only band with a saxophonist. And in my opinion Luke is the best vocalist they had.
Efra, Jay Durias is not the composer of MAPA but one of the producers together with Pablo and Simon Servida. It is Pablo who composed and wrote the lyrics of MAPA.
All BANDS here in the Philippines go through live performances in Clubs and Bars. They hone their craft, talent and skills there. Since that is the case, SOUTH BORDER sounded as their ALBUM music during their live gigs/concert. That is the reason why ALL loved them. Kahit Kailan was their 1st hit. However, it was not it the cause of success. SOUTH BORDER was an R and B and sophisticated with Jazz influence in their chord progressions.
Its the era of OPM lovesongs in that time. There song standout due there soft singing styles. This hits being played late nights over several radio station.
Hi Efra and Waleska my fave reactor, just want to clear that SB19 song MAPA is composed of SB19's leader PABLO while Jay Durias of Southboarder is one of the Producer along with Pablo and Simon Servida. Jay is also a composer and SB is one of the legends in music industry here in the Phils.
BRIX FERRARIS is the first vocalist of SOUTH BORDER, he is the original vocalist of the song KAHIT KAILAN, and for me its the best version, best palseto.
