Xscape's LaTocha Scott's debut Gospel album apparently may have flopped due to the major backlash she received on the SWV & Xscape: The Queens of R&B reality TV show. According to this new report, the project sold so low that it didn't even reach Billboard's 200 Album Charts.

She could’ve released this independently … this not only reflects on her but on Motown’s judgement. They were rushing to get an album out for $$ but did NO artist development NO rebranding, NO RESEARCH on what happened on the show. They were looking for a quick turnaround and oh well.

Not surprised the album isn't selling. It is not a gospel album. I don't think she has promoted the album on many gospel radio shows. I think she thought that if she went on black radio shows, Xscape fans would automatically buy the album. However, she spent more time on those shows bashing her sister and group mates instead of promoting the album. Dragging Rocky around with her hasn't help. What makes it worse is that she is still bashing people even though the album is out. If she has a PR team, they should be fired because her answers to questions are horrible. It's always somebody else's fault, Kandi didn't want to do something, Tameka was a troubled child etc. It's horrible that a 50 year old woman has to deflect so much.

I listened to the record for the entire weekend of Easter and it was a solid 6/10. I wouldn’t call it bad but it was missing a “God In Me” by Mary Mary or “Put a Praise On It” by Tasha Cobbs Leonard uptempo moment for me. It also could have used a pure gospel song to negate the criticism of this record being only R&B.

I knew that this was going to happen. It’s not her talent, it’s her attitude, and her man. A lot of women in the entertainment industry want their man to feel like they’re putting in work even though they’re mostly living off of the woman. So they make their man their manager. So they’re still living off of the woman. Did y’all see how elated Rocky was when they were talking to Motown? You could see the dollar signs dancing in his eyes. Now the money could be cut in half, instead of four ways. Then once papers weee signed, she didn’t need Xscape, but kept them as old reliable, in case one didn’t work out , she had the latter. The only way that this will all go away is for Tocha to make amends, and she can keep Rocky, but she needs to keep him out of her business. Let him go fake manage somebody else. Like I used to say, just because you have a computer in your basement doesn’t make you a producer! Once this is done, only then can the healing begin. All this is allegedly.

If latocha was really just wanting to sing (like she claims), she would’ve released music independently. We’re in a day in age where any random person can post a song online and make just as much money as a top artist.. it can take a little longer. But if tocha just wants to do music she could’ve waited. She wants a record deal with that upfront money because she has a big head already. No one was checking for her except Motown and she jumped on it. To me, her voice doesn’t seem gospel. The songs are hardly gospel. It was plausible power move attempt, but it was a fail.

We’ve seen kandi release music independently whether you like it or not. And if I’m not mistaken, she just released a new song while still touring with xscape. I listened to a few songs off the album. Her voice is absolutely beautiful but I felt like it was R&B songs. I wish her blessings and much success. However you 1st have to ask for forgiveness and ask God to direct your path...not Rocky.

You're missing one important aspect here. The label basically pulled the plug on the album because during all the drama there was a link in her Instagram bio to pre-order the album. But then the label took that down and replaced it with another link. And when you click that one, all I talked about was streaming the album and that's all it talked about on latocha website and the. Record labels too, so there was no way to buy it anymore.

I’m not the only shady one 😂 I was at work last week googling the album sales and the “the limit does not exist!”😅 I couldn’t find anything pertaining to album sales but I saw where her singles charted. I chucked it up to her team didn’t submit her work to Billboard. I had a gut feeling that her album didn’t chart, but I wanted to be optimistic and give her the benefit of the doubt.

Some ppl are meant to be GREAT back up singers. Whether they can sing or not going solo ain’t for everyone. It’s a documentary on back up singers called “20 feet from stardom” and it’s really good. The singer Lisa fisher who sang the song “how can I ease the pain” had a short lived music career and is now a great back up singer. Nothing wrong with that. And that’s no shade. There are many individuals with great voices, just go into church on a Sunday morning when the mass choir is singing, or the praise and worship teams is worshipping, she did not connect with the gospel world or the "secular" world. That toxicity was too much even for the non religious.
