Coach of Latvia is very humble despite of the loss. He takes it as a man and gives credit to winning team. . That is why Latvia is so successful under him,. Congats to Gilas Pilipinas and Coach Tim Cone and for telling the world he is a proud Filipino by heart since he is 9 years old.
So heartwarming to hear when he says “ i’m basically a filipino, although i have blonde hair and green eyes..Just so proud of our coach CTC. Congrats Gilas Pilipinas! Mabuhay! 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
First time I heard a European coach talk about their difficulty against the size of the Philippine team. Gilas, for the longest time, has always been undersized.
In addition to Philippines' victory after 64-year drought against a European team, other potential records that would have been broken are as follows (anybody is welcome to fact-check): 1. Biggest upset in FIBA history in terms of rank difference between two teams (Rank 37 vs Rank 6, or difference of 31 ranks) where the higher-ranked team belongs to the Top 10. 2. First time a European team never tasted a lead over the Philippines or any Asian/Southeast Asian team during the entire game. 3. Highest margin win (9 points) by any Asian or Southeast Asian team against Latvia. 4. First time a European team won only one quarter (4th quarter) against the Philippines and potentially against any Asian/Southeast Asian team. 5. First time any Philippine or Asian/Southeast Asian team led by double digits in 3 quarters against a European team. 6. The highest lead (26 points) ever recorded against any European team by a Philippine and potentially by any Southeast Asian team at any time within the game.
The Latvian head coach was so gracious even on defeat, very humble and seemed open to express his thoughts so well that I felt like I was sitting in a college lecture room. This is why Latvia has been performing well in the world stage. As for Gilas Pilipinas, this makes me proud to finally see them thrive in the international scene. Win or lose, we will always support you guys.
Sad day for people in the Philippines who have 🦀🧠!! Congratulations to Team Philippines. Kudos to coach Tim Cone for figuring out the best way to play Kai Sotto and for being able to teach him how he can play to his strengths.👏👏👏 Many coaches have failed to do that in the past.
Yup those who bash team Pilipinas in the loss has no right to ride on the bandwagon if they cannot support gilas in the losses then do not support in the win.
Upon seing this game, I think coach Tim have already let go of the tall guys to enter the whole game. And the way he raised our flag 🇵🇭 by saying he had lived in the Philippines since 9 years old, I am a fan. And to give credits to our players, kudos to them. Praise God for all of these!!!!
We like and love you coach Tim Cone. God Bless you and the entire team and Management.
Latvian Coach is a blessing to any team. Accountable and has a clear mental focus how to approach the game. It is coach Tim Cone's and the PH squads' night of course but the Latvian team is in good hands with this coach.

21:35 just wanted to share information.. most of the GILAS players are not familiar with the triangle. . The team was built one week before ASIAN games. This is a different team under coach Chot Reyes
Euro style vs. Triangle system is the essence of this game. The revival of the 90's most admired system by the Chicago Bulls was orchestrated by Tim Cone. It's getting exciting to see what other tweaks of the Triangle system again vs. Georgia.
The "KEY" to the BIG WIN is COACH TIM CONE plus the determination & LABAN MENTALITY of the Gilas Players. Mabuhay Gilas All. Go on get more W's you can do it.
@@clownertheplayerreal talk talaga yan idol...
Triangle is a tried and tested offense. It has 9 championships to show for. It's hard to argue when you have Hall of Famers having played in that system and won.
We are still missing pieces at this point, we do not have our number 1 defender AJ and our main pointguard Scottie. Our first 5 really step-up, Kai this time has been more efficient than Fajardo, JB is on fire! . It's been a real nice game! ❤
This is what I like about CTC. He really puts premium on defense. First time I've seen a European team so unsure and so tentative with their shots...MABUHAY PILIPINAS!!!🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
This team with AJ Edu and true PG just add another dimensions defensively and offensively. Wish coach Tim is the coach in the last FIBA world cup we would have gotten a olympic slot already, but on the bright side Gilas beating Latvia and close to winnning against Georgia , and now in the semis already exceeds expectations . Future is bright with Coach Tim
Congratulations from Latvia!🎉 Believe always, that You can beat any team and even bigger winns will come. Like my Latvia won France, Spain, Lithuania e.t.c. I also love Georgia, but good luck to You 💪💪💪🙂
Totoo, I think hindi pa nga niya peak itong edad niya. He has to get that NBA contract kasi he is a legit project player despite being more of traditional center.
Kai length and junemar strength. Sabj nga the one who controls the rebound controls the game.
Learning experience n nmn😅
This is what Tab Baldwin said Gilas should be in top 15 in the world if we play this game right. The era of learning experience and dribble drive is over. Good bye choke Reyes.
Thanks a lot coach Tim Cone for for your love (passion) in basketball and for guiding and leading the Philippine team Gilas. The word GILAS meaning to me is Ka gila-gilalas or could be amazing in english. Kudos or praise for using that word GILAS.
A very tough game for the philippines Latvia really is a strong team worthy of a #6 spot and they still don’t have porzingis Imagine if he is there But still congrats philippines 🇵🇭 And thank you latvia 🇱🇻
Salute to Latvia Team for your sportsmanship. Congratulations Team Gilas to all, teamwork is the best with a triangle offence which Coach Tim Cone knew a bit A true Filipino, and to all your hardwork. Thank you Lord for a big win and a really win a tournament. .
Coach Tim coaches the team with pure pinoy passion for the game of basketball, unlike the previous coach that coached with fashion even had his widely criticized suit put to FIBA memorabilia like he did great by being the most criticized coach of a host team. SBP needs to fire Josh, while this seniors team has shocked a powerhouse eurepean team, the U17 played an embarassing game throughout the tournament, the coach playing small ball and obsolete DDO like his dad which resulted to an average 50+ losing margin.
Coach Tim Cone is the best example of a world-class basketball coach. Kai's NBA career is getting nearer and nearer this year. I think they did not have the slightest idea how to play with an Asian team all of them were caught off guard. Just like Poland say it's their first time playing against an Asian team.
