If you're interested in a animated movie kick, might I suggest the following animated movies: Charlotte's Web (1973) Wizards (1977) The Hobbit (1977) Heavy Metal (1981) The Last Unicorn (1982) The Flight Of Dragons (1982) The Secret Of NIMH (1982) An American Tail (1986) All are available on RU-vid Movies channel to rent or buy, so no excuses about finding them. I suggest turning on subtitles, since you might have mute all the music.
CONGRATULATIONS! 💕 You will make a great grandpa! Shrek's voice is Mike Myers (Wayne's World, Austin Powers), Farquhart is yes, John Lithgow, and Princess Fiona is Cameron Diaz (There's Something About Mary). I love the adult humor in today's kids' movies 😆
Lol his name…IS Donkey! U know how some people name their cat “Cat”?! Same thing. He’s Donkey. But if it makes u feel better, his name is Donkay. That’s how Shrek sounds when he says it😉
Congrats on being a Grandpa, James! I am so happy for you 😂😂 An animated film series I would definitely recommend watching is the "Madagascar" film series from DreamWorks. All the films are fun and enjoyable and has celebrity cast voices from Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinket-Smith and David Schwimmer (Ross from "Friends").
This was such a fun reaction, I haven't seen this since I was a kid. It really is a great movie. There is such a wide gulf between great animated movies like this, and the endless mediocrity that some studios pump out for children. Kids deserve good movies
Congrats on becoming Grandpa 🎉 Also great reaction. Always love how wholesome your reactions are, they really lift my mood. I hope you’ll do the sequel as well. It’s just as good, if not even better. Cheers, from Denmark 🇩🇰
Congratulations to you becoming a grandfather James! I think that you are going to be a great grandfather!🎉❤😊 Also some other suggestions for animated movies you might want to consider doing…Pixar Films, (The Incredibles, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, How To Train Your Dragon Trilogy…that’s all I can think of for now!)
So the reason this movie (and in fact Dreamworks Studios) exists is because the studio founder Jeffery Katzenberg used to work for Disney & was up for the job of CEO but instead they passed over him and gave the job to another executive named Michael Eisner. Katzenberg quit out of frustration & founded Dreamworks with some friends and made this as their first project- a movie that relentlessly mocks Disney films and tropes. Lord Farquaad is supposed to be a caricature of Michael Eisner.
This came out on video on my 9th birthday so the VHS was one of my gifts that year and still one of my favorites ever lol. So funny. Hope you watch the sequel too. 💚 Congratulations btw!!! 🎊💖🎉
This movie sticks in my head for one reason. In one of my favorite movies, I am legend. The main character memorizes donkeys line and recites it as its being shown on the TV. Thats a great movie btw. Before all of the Will Smith Shenanigans
I love this movie. Great reaction. I knew you would enjoy this one. You have to watch Shrek 2. So many jokes and references in these movies that kids wont get.
My three favorite parts: Shrek's expression in the Duloc picture. "Pick number three, my lord!" while he holds up two fingers The entire Monsieur Hood scene
Chris Farley (you know from Tommy Boy) was originally cast as Shrek and before he died in 1997, he had recorded around 85% of the dialogue for the first film, which was subsequently abandoned following his tragic death.
I thought you've seen Trading places. A brilliant movie with Eddie Murphy in it. Interesting fact about this movie. DreamWorks was working on two animated movies at the time. This one and Prince of Egypt. (if you have not seen that movie, you absolutely should) anyway animators that weren't doing a good job on that movie were sent to work on this one as a form of punishment. Because DreamWorks thought this movie would be a bomb. It turned out being an entertainment touchstone that spawned an entire franchise and a bazillion sequels. And Prince of Egypt has largely been forgotten to time.
Congrats on Becoming a Grandpa.....Just Became a Grandma myself for the First time in Dec and then again Just 2 weeks ago ...Both my Daughters had Little Boys 3 months apart .. I'm Loving being a Grandma to 2 Grandsons ....Enjoy
Always remember: DreamWorks came about - in part - from Jeffrey Katzenberg flipping the bird to Disney. Entering Duloc and parodying Disneyland was the most direct DW got with this. Thankfully, it has a pretty good track record in spite of this.
"Dulac" is a parody of DISNEY. Dulac is the name of a famous fairy-tale illustrator, just like DISNEY. (I am an artist, and that it is bit of trivia that I happen to know, so they second they said "Dulac, I KNEW they were picking on Disney.) And the opening little song at Dulac is just like "The small world" ride at DISNEYLAND. And the center of Dulac is just like the Main Street in Disneyland.
I love the bit where Shrek and Donkey are making fun of Lord Farquaad. Shrek: Let me put it to ya this way, Princess. Men of Farquaad's stature are in SHORT supply. Donkey chuckles- I don't know, Shrek. There ARE those who think LITTLE of him. 😁🤭😅😂🤣☠️
the thing is yeah shrek is visually scary, but shrek just minds his own business so if they didn't try to get him with pitchforks and fire he'd probably not even bother them.
"I found out that I'm going to be a grandfather" AAAAAH! I did not expect to react this way. Congrats! ❤❤❤❤❤ and all the love to your son and his wife as they go on this journey.
Yup, it's chock full of hundreds of pop culture references! For more Cameron Diaz: The Mask starring Jim Carrey, There's Something About Mary starring Ben Stiller, Charlie's Angels starring Drew Barrymore & Demi Moore, Bad Teacher, and My Best Friend's Wedding starring Julia Roberts. For more Michael Myers: Wayne's World, Austin Powers. For more John Lithgow: The World according to Garp starring Robin Williams, Footloose starring Kevin Bacon, Cliffhanger starring Sylvester Stallone, and Harry & the Hendersons starring Bigfoot. For more Eddie Murphy: 48 HRS., Trading Places, Coming to America, The Nutty Professor.
Oh my gosh! Congratulations!! 🙏🏻❤️… a grandpa! 🎉🎉. I love Shrek still and I’m 64🤣🤣🤣. I love them all from Foghorn Leghorn to Lady and the Tramp and in between🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Excellent reaction, Grandpa! One of the few movies I actually enjoy watching with kids because they also like pointing out lots of Easter eggs I missed.
Shrek is love. Shrek is life. 😎 These are great movies, look forward to you checking out the sequels! Funnily enough I’m sure I watch childhood movies more as an adult because I appreciate the plots and scripts in ways I couldn’t as a child. 😉
This is made by Dreamworks, which does NOT have to be as family friendly as Disney. Dreamworks movies are allowed to have darker, more mature themes than Disney was allowed. That brought us movies like Prince of Egypt, Tropic Thunder, Kung Fu Panda, Anchorman, American Beauty, and Galaxy Quest
Congratulations on becoming a grandparent! Congratulations to your son and the rest of the family, as well! I hear being a grandparent comes with unique challenges, such as navigating boundaries with the parents, but is ultimately a more enjoyable experience, because you can be more relaxed in your role.
I love shrek! Definitely check out some Pixar films too! Up, Wall-e, Onward and pretty much every other are must watches if you haven’t seen them! Huge congrats and the grand baby! You will be an AWESOME grandpa!
Thanks for posting these videos. You are such a genuine guy and have a warm spirit. I've been struggling with some health problems recently and watching you react to Shrek was really helpful for me today.
One of the darkest hidden scenes in the movie is the story of the three bears. The first time you see them, Mama and Papa bear are in a cage with Baby bear separated. Later, when it shows Papa and Baby, Papa bear is consoling Baby. Then later you see Mama bear on Farquaad's floor as a bear skin rug. She is still wearing her bow. Dreamworks is brutal.
So Happy for you .. Congratulations!! PopPop, Poppy, Grandpa, Gramps, etc… Great Movie Choice…it definitely won’t be your 1st time watching it now lol 😂! ✌🏻☀️
Congratulations Grandpa! Grandkids are awesome. You get to spoil them, sugar them up then rile them up and send them home for their parents to handle. Have fun!
Big congrats, James! 🎊🎊Wishing you mountains of happiness to you and your family! I have been watching your channel for over a year now, but this is the first time I write a comment. I recommend you watch some Pixar animations that you will love: Up (2009), WALL-E (2008), Coco (2017), Ratatouille (2007), Inside Out (2015), Toy Story (1995).
Congratulations on soon being a grandpa! Have you seen any of the Muppet movies? I loved them so much as a kid, and The Muppet Show too! Watched them over and over, and they are still fun to watch as an adult! The best one is the original The Muppet Movie from 1979. I was 4 years old when that came out in the theater and I got my grandmother to take me to see it about a half dozen times. Have you seen the Herbie The Love Bug movies? The live-action Disney movies about a sentient Volkswagen Beetle? Loved those movies too as a kid! A lot of great vintage 60's/70's cars in those movies too! Best Regards!
The Princess CAMERON DIAZ, who is in the movie Charlie’s Angels with Drew Barrymore and Bill Murray and Lucy Lou. I believe the Villains are Crispin Glover(George McFly in Back to the Future). Shrek is Mike Myers who is Austin Powers and also in the movie Wayne’s world 🤣🤣🤣check Wayne’s world out👍😆
Congratulations!! If you’ve seen the Disney Renaissance films already (Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King), my other favorite post-Walt animated film by Disney is Moana, which is gorgeous, funny, has wonderful songs, and a terrific message/theme.
This is brought to you by the same genius who brought you Wayne's World and Austin Powers.......Mike Myers. Congratulations on becoming a grandparent, im still waiting but im patient. Cant wait to meet him/her on here someday. I can tell you're going to be the best grampa, just remember, when shopping for xmas and birthday gifts.......the louder the better. 😂😂😂
unfortunately kids aren’t that unaware, i got every one of them and i make a jokes about it at family dinner and safe to say i wasn’t allowed to watch shrek again lol
Oh man seeing you react to this movie brings back soo many memories as I used to watch this movie as a kid and enjoy it all the time 😊. You will absolutely love the sequels as they expand on the progress this movie made.
Congrats to your family on the wonderful news. Great movie and part 2 is better. Although suitable for children, much of the humour is aimed at adults. And yes, every time you watch you'll pick up things you hadn't seen
I remember watching this when I was younger and then in comparison as an adult you see all the grown up jokes which always makes me laugh. My nephew has recently discovered shrek and loves it. Ive only watched this one and the sequel- which has always been my favourite one and is probably one of the best sequels too. New characters and more refernces. Great reaction 😊
Congrats on being a grandad!!!! "Shrek 2" (2004) is considered to be one of the best sequels ever. "Shrek 3" (2007) is widely hated by fans. "Shrek 4" (2010), fan reactions vary. Some call it good, but others call it bad, mostly bcuz it is not a fairytale parody anymore. This franchise also got a spinoff that is worth watching too: "Puss In Boots" (2011) and its sequel "Puss In Boots: The Last Wish" (2022). If you plan to watch the spinoffs, i recommend to do that after watching "Shrek 2", bcuz that is where the title character gets introduced.
Congrats! You're about to have a lot of fun. Remember to buy really noisy Christmas presents that go home with your son. Drum set at age 6 is always good.
