There's a network of (silly) associations behind this. Finnish TV has been running a reality-TV show where a bunch of musicians perform covers of each others songs. So that sparked me an idea, to continue down the path of covering this particular song. A classic of Finnish comedy is Vesa-Matti Loiri's version of Naurava Kulkuri, where he starts by complaining how all too often if a song or a theatre play includes laughing, it comes out shallow and artificial. So he wants to show how he'd like to see it done... Search for his performance, it is both weird and hilarious. (Strictly speaking, it is Loiri's chracter 'Jean Pierre Kusela' performing, not Loiri himself...) I traced back the other versions of this songs. Seems like the original(?) English version has a little 'hah!' in it. And the Gerrman version 'Der lachende Vagabund' comes with a bit more of 'hah hah haa!'. So, Loiri takes that one step further in his Finnish version. And I wanted to try if it would be possible to over-do it even worse =)
