The Cabinet Office minister has said the government is committed to media freedom after Downing Street’s decision to ban certain journalists on Monday from a No 10 briefing. Chloe Smith said: ‘This government is committed to being open in its dealing with the press and to the principles of media freedom. The events of yesterday were a very good example of this.’ Her comments were met with laughter from the opposition

There'rr no tight decisions anymore. That Tory majority means there's no point in an opposition because all the papers that back Boris will say he's doing great regardless, and who in the general public watches parliament? They'll believe the papers. They can set the agenda in parliament. They have the power to pass any laws they want and now they want to control which papers get info. We're heading towards some North Korea/Russian media endgame here. Scary and sad times for this country. Brexit is one thing, but a huge Tory majority is a whole level worse

MPs are paid £79,468 as of 2019. The average wage in the UK in 2019 was £29,558. I would have thought that Chloe Smith MP, given these statistics would be taking her jobs a bit more seriously.
