Now that it's just me and my husband, he does the laundry and uses the dryer, I used to hang the clothes out in the summer and I used to make our detergent but not anymore. Janelle, God blessed you and I with such helpful husband ❤

Great video! Glad your airbnb remodel is done so you guys have a little more time to make videos. 😊😊 I also love hanging laundry. I've hung my laundry outside ever since I left home and love the slightly stiffer result.

Lots of it. We had 8 people growing up and no dryer. When it rained or snowed you hung them on hangers to dry. All other things were put on a foldable wooden rack. My mom washed by hand diapers and everything in the bathtub. Until my dad got her a washing machine. Sometimes we go to my grandmother's house and use an old wringer washier. I come from no credit you saved until you could afford something. Otherwise, you made do. We always had laundry, large pillow like bags with draw string we spray them stuff them in it and iron while we watched TV. I can imagine the amount of laundry you do. Peace!

Very similar to our routine. :) Usually at least one load every day except Sunday. I love the smell of line dried clothes. We do have a dryer but here in Fiji it would be to expensive to run it every single day.

I dry my clothes in the dryer. Since I am the only one at home. I tend to let things pile up because I want a load. I did teach my son to do his own laundry when he was 11. That was a real blessing. I wish I had been more like you, Janelle, and taught him more about cooking. Thanks for sharing, Art. You do a great job. Have a Blessed day.

You have a wonderful husband. Love how he helps with everything that he can. Most ( not all) husbands would be that your job not mine. Women do that. There are husbands like are but not many. Just the two of us, use dryer. My mom had a rack inside and a close line we used for years,

Love how the kids are involved too. When mine were in 7th grade all laundry of theirs were up to them to do. If they wanted a clean towel or underwear they were responsible to do it

I hang up my clothes during warm weather season (May- SeptOct). I enjoy it, but by fall I feel like it’s a treat to use the dryer again. I agree that the folding is easier off the line. I also have a wall mounted rack in the laundry room for delicates along with a large rack in the basement for large loads of delicates.

Hi Janelle, Art and sweet family! Haha, that’s what I always said that any money found was a tip for the maid (wink, wink) Homemade laundry soap is my favorite too and it doesn’t leave that residue on your clothes. When I hang out clothes and they are dry, I always fold it and put it in the basket and that way I just take it back in the house and put it away. sweet Hannah is going to help daddy with the laundry. I love when my laundry can be hung outside. Hope everyone including the grandparents are doing well. Have a very week!

We are finally in a place where I can have an outside clothesline. My husband will be making that for me in the next couple of weeks. I can't wait!

I go to the fabric store and buy the rubber fabric with like a felt or flannel fabric on both sides. I still have one piece left from my kids that I’m now using for my grandkids. It washes and dries really well.

I don't own a dryer, never have. My laundry is dried on my 50 year old Hills Hoist. Of course the climate where I live in Australia enables line drying. If it is raining then I dry it inside on clothes rack.

I wash and hang out if sunny, we had a lot of rain in Florida so mostly dryer. I guess I should hanger it and air dry but it is just me and my husband now. So od not do laundry but a couple of times a week now. I do sheet every week. Peace!

With only 3 of us I do laundry once a week unless I’m washing bedding! I do laundry on sundays unless we have something going on! I sort my laundry into 3 piles colors, whites and darks! During the school year I have 2 loads of darks since my kid wears mostly black clothes and so does my husband! I can do a load just with my child’s clothes! I like color and sometimes in the winter need to do 2 loads of color with bulky sweatshirts! I always use the dryer I don’t like the outside smell on clothes that are dried outside but that’s just me! I immediately fold the clothes when they come out of the dryer and they get put away that day or the next day! I use free and clear laundry detergent on clothes and original gain on my bedding!

I LOVE line dried clothes. They smell so good and are nice and crisp. Where I live now I can't hang laundry out to dry but if I could I would. You and Art make a great team. Hannah is really growing up. Is she 2?

No kidding, there is an app for everything! We're a family of 7, 8 next month- Lord willing. Our laundry system has adjusted over the years and I feel like we're finally in a good spot. We have our laundry in the basement and my husband cut in a laundry chute door in the bathroom. So all of our laundry drops right in front of the washing machine. I have one child who starts a morning load ( we don't sort colors) and that child is in charge of putting away any laundry that is ready to be put away. We have a family "closet" of sorts next to the washer and dryer. On an open shelf, every child has 2 bins for clothes and we don't fold them since they always seemed to be unfolded anyways. My husband has 4 bins because his clothes are so big and he has a lot of layers to wear being a construction worker and we have a farm. My clothes are hung on a rod that is right there too. Then we have one basket for stuff that needs to come upstairs (I keep the baby and toddler clothes upstairs since it is easier to dress them there, along with towels and wash cloths). I put away the upstairs basket a couple of times a week. We also hang dry laundry-that's my job. I have a long line on a pulley that goes out over my cow pasture. It's high enough that the cows don't bother it and it can hold 5 loads. In the afternoon I have a different child assigned to laundry and their job is to take down anything on the line and we run it in the dryer for a few minutes to knock the bugs out. For some reason my husband's High-vis work shirts attract all the bugs! Then they put away those loads. We have 2 milk cows so we often have milking rags plus kitchen rags to wash as well. Every other day I will start one load or the other after milking. Those loads are bleached so I like to do them myself and since we start our day milking at 3:50am, it's easy for me to wash that load before the kids even get up. It sounds like a lot typed out but it flows very well. We typically have 3 loads a day and we don't get backed up unless we have to skip a day for some reason. Since we fold very few items (mostly just bathroom towels, even kitchen towels just get shoved in a big crock in the kitchen) its so quick and easy to put things away. Now all that said we don't have fancy materials. Most of our clothing is work clothes around the farm and wrinkles aren't really a concern. We have 2 nice outfits per kid/ my husband that are hung on the rod with my clothes and since my clothes are hung they don't hold wrinkles either. I actually don't even own an ironing board haha. It's nice to have the laundry monster under control for this stage of life at least. I would like to figure out a good system for line drying in the winter. We just don't seem to have the space to keep a laundry rack in an area that will actually dry efficiently. I'd also like to get back to cloth diapering. I did it with the first 3 kids and I've slacked off since then. Maybe I can get a routine going with that for this baby?

My sister in law had an enclosed back porch with one window that opened out. Her clothes line ran from the back of the yard all the way into the porch. She hung out clothes summer and winter (in Canada) and they would freeze on the line. She ironed everything...literally, so when the clothes were defrosted they were just the right damp to iron. They were a family of 5 and that was way too much work as far as I was concerned. Just Me...lazier for sure. At the cost of disposables, I don't know how folks afford to use them. Cloth is so much easier, and a one time purchase.

Yes they do! We just finally threw out my originals ones that I bought when I had Grace. They went through 3.5 kids all the bed wetting. Once in a while, we would have an emergency and need to dry them in the dryer but usually we line dry all of them and the cloth diapers.
