Laura Marling - What He Wrote A fan Music video made using clips from A Very Long Engagement. I own no copyright for either the song, nor video footage, but I gain nothing from using them.
😮 On Body and Soul 😮 brought me here. Heartbraking small hungarian movie which won loads of awards. Best movie i've seen these past 5 years ... The scene with the song will leave you shooketh 😳
Inspired by wartime love letters that Laura read in a newspaper, ‘What He Wrote’ seems to detail the forbidden love of writing to a man other than your husband - she appeals to the Greek goddess Hera, goddess of women and marriage, for forgiveness for speaking to this man when she’s “spoken for.” The whole song, just vocals and guitar, trembles in its waltz rhythm, but the most effecting line has to be the unqualified frankness of, “I miss his smell.
i love what you wrote, magnificent, and a skillfully way with words, one of the finest comments, regarding this masterpiece . i have ever read in the comment section,
Perfection. A soothing, melancholic slow burn that eats away at your soul. You are face to face with self and it's got you in your dark and almost safe places.
wasn't it though? i dont know what it was about the dream connection about the two, but it really reached me. im a lucid dreamer, and well a little anti social. So to see something like this in a movie... it touched me.. idk just something about the way they showed it in the film was just perfect.
Forgive me, Hera, I cannot stay He cut out my tongue There is nothing to say Love me, oh Lord He threw me away He laughed at my sins In his arms I must stay He wrote I am broke Please send for me But I am broken too And spoken for Do not tempt me Her skin is white And I'm light as the sun So holy light shines on the things you have done So I asked him how he became this man How did he learn to hold fruit in his hands? And where is the lamb that gave you your name? He had to leave though I begged him to stay Left me alone when I needed the light Fell to my knees and I wept for my life If he had've stayed you might understand If he had've stayed you never would have taken my hand He wrote Oh love, please send for me But I am broken too And spoken for Do not tempt me And where is the lamb that gave you your name? He had to leave though I begged him to stay Begged him to stay in my cold wooden grip Begged him to stay by the light of this ship Me fighting him, fighting like fighting dawn And the waves came and stole him and took him to war He wrote I'm broke Please send for me But I'm broken too And spoken for Do not tempt me Forgive me, here, I cannot stay Cut out my tongue There is nothing to save Love me, oh Lord, he threw me away He laughed at my sins In his arms I must say We write That's alright I miss his smell We speak when spoken to And that suits us well That suits us well That suits me well
It should be "Forgive me, Hera, I cannot stay" the first time you wrote it down right, but the second time you said here instead of Hera. Hera is the queen of heaven
'Testről és Lélekről' brought me here. (Hungarian movie which was awarded the Golden Bear, the highest prize for the best film at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2017.)
I just had the opportunity to watch it in German. I had known the song before but now after that film... it's even more melancholic and heavy in emotions than before... very good though! but I dont know if I can ever listen easily to that song again.
"But I'm broken too and spoken for, do not tempt me We write, that's alright, I miss his smell" Funny how a song can seem to be talking to you, like it knows you so well! Thinking of the smoke soaked clothes!
I've loved Laura Marling for years now & this is one of my favorite songs. I was SO EXCITED when I heard it on Peaky Blinders. Awesome show with an awesome soundtrack!
Forgive me here, I cannot stay He cut out my tongue, There is nothing to say Love me? Oh lord, he threw me away, He laughed at my sins, in his arms I must stay He wrote, I'm broke Please send for me But I'm broken too, And spoken for Do not, tempt me Her skin is white, and I'm light as the sun, So holy light shines, on the things, you have done So I asked him, How he became this man? How that he learned, To hold fruit in his hands? And where is the lamb, that gave you your name? He had to leave, though I begged him to stay Left me alone, when I needed the light Fell to my knees, and I wept for my life If he had of stayed, you might understand If he had of stayed, you never would've taken my hand He wrote, I'm low Please send for me But I'm broken too, And spoken for Do not, tempt me And where is the lamb, that gave you your name? He had to leave, though I begged him to stay Begged him to stay, in my cold wooden grip Begged him to stay, by the light of my ship Me fighting him, Fighting light, Fighting dawn And the waves came, And stole him, And took him toward He wrote, I'm broke Please send for me But I'm broken too, And spoken for Do not, tempt me Forgive me, here, I cannot stay Cut out my tongue, there is nothing to say Love me oh lord, he threw me away He laughed at my sins, in his arms I must stay We write That's alright I miss his smell We speak, When spoken to That suits us well That suits us well That suits me well
Cette musique nous touche et déclenche nos émotions. Avec ces images, elle nous émerveille. Très agréable à écouter, cette chanson fait partie de celles qui nous marquent profondément. *********
I was looking for this. That moment when she cant relate to any of the songs and then goes home and listens to this song and stops it in the middle because it overwhelms her. Damn.!!!!
"We’re not free in what we do, because we’re not free in what we want. We can’t overcome what’s deep within us." Wonderful video edit. You did it proper justice with those video clips. Good stuff, You've got my respect.
Oh my goodness, stop this ridiculous complaining about people finding this through Peaky Blinders. Laura and her music are getting more attention, so this is a great thing! Phenomenal song ♥️
omg i just now read the description... I have watched this video SO MANY TIMES and always thought it's the Original Music Video... sooooo much respect to the fan who created / edited this.. it fits SO WELL!! amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing

You Do Deserve To Be Much More Shared... Just For This Lovely Cat... And Audrey Tautou... And For You -:) Take care, Please... And Thank You Very Much -:) To You And To Laura Marling -:)
On Body And Soul...truly a great film brought to us by Hungarian Film Movie Creators. This song was made for this...perfect. If You like movies out of the norm this is it!
It's not elitism. It's perfectly normal, to see that the most successful music amongst young people today is not an expression of feeling but purely commercial produce, and feel revolted.
