I have a Laurastar Ironing system for 24 years. The absolute BEST thing my husband ever bought me. LOVE LOVE LOVE It and I can't ever imagine using a regular iron. Worth every single penny spent on it.

Saw this iron about 2 years ago. It was just another thing I couldn’t live another day without,so I bought it.( just kidding ) I put it away to wait on my laundry room remodel to be completed. Now that my other steam iron needed a replacement part we set the Laurastar up and Wow!it is the SYSTEM! Our laundry room is magazine worthy so is this iron! It will be a nice display and not shoved into a closet ❤

Well aren’t you a doll for saying so 💛🐝 I do love my Laurastar. I can’t always use her since I’ve got a smaller sewing space she gets pulled out of the closet when I’m doing all day sewing or pressing. But as for comments, I truly appreciate every single one. I do my best to get to them, sometime I get overwhelmed but then remember how that one comment took someone else a few moments out of their day to leave for me so the least I can do is show my appreciation for their visit to my channel. So THANK YOU!

Thank you for your video. You did a great job with it so I'm subscribing so that I'll see more of your videos. I came to this one because I wanted to see the Smart U reviewed by a sewer. I have the older Laurastar Go (by the way, a great system that retails for about $1300, and still gives you the ironing board with fan but with fewer bells and whistles). But now I need an iron at my vacation/weekend house, which is actually where my sewing room is. My first Laurastar was a red Lift but I bought it when I lived in Europe and when I moved back I didn't bring it because it's 220V. But that iron spoiled me! The steam is phenomenal and it never leaked (like my Rowenta iron). I'm tempted to buy another one but after using the Go, I think I'd regret not getting the system with the ironing board. The Go doesn't have a removable water tank and that's why I'm looking at the Smart I or the Smart U - I'm too impatient to wait for it to cool a bit before adding water and then wait to heat back up. I think I'm going to buy the Smart I because for me the Sensteam and Active 3D soleplate aren't enough of a justification for the difference in price (about $900).

I love my Laura Star! You’re so fortunate to have the top of the line system: iron + ironing board combined. It’s great to know Laura Star makes an “iron only” option starting about $500. I was over replacing brand name irons every couple of years - especially after they started spitting on my sewing projects. There are just 2 types of irons: the ones you swear BY, and the ones you swear AT. Thank you for explaining the retractable cord (or lack of it in the U.S.). And I really appreciate the Insider Tips.

Excellent honest review! 💕. I love my Laurastar iron and could not agree with you more, they are fantastic! I have saved hundreds of dollars in dry cleaning and also on replacing irons every 6 months. The Laurastar lasts!

I had the their first laura star, I purchased mine 2001 and it’s still going, I do not have to worry about burns or too hot or adjusting heat temperature , I was sold! when I first saw the demonstration. I’m about to complete my purchased for the laura Star lift Xtra steam when Brexit happened , it’s great to have them back i the UK . I just seen Harrods had it good price !

Got one, love it, however We are off-grid (solar, batteries, generator), and the power draw is sizable. Ironing in Summer is not a problem but winter (when panels are frozen over) can be a problem. Something I hadn't considered when I purchased (prior to going off-grid ;-).

Thank you for this video, so helpful. Your video convinced me to buy one. I’m getting used to it but I have questions about the fan and some other noises the system makes. 1) Is the fan supposed to turn on and off between ironing items? 2) Is there supposed to be a spurt of steam when the iron is placed on the shelf? 3) Out of nowhere there is a motor noise that comes from the tank, even when it has water. 4) When ironing using the sen-steam I don’t always get a burst of steam when moving forward. Maybe I just haven’t used it enough and these issues will go away! I really love how the clothes and napkins are looking!

Oh I've been waiting and waiting for this video. Not that I would ever even consider buying a $2,500 iron but it sure looks interesting. Maybe it would be good for someone with a business but I don't think it's a hobby price lol unless I win the lottery.

Quick question. I just set up my Laurastar Smart iron. I use fusible we like misty fuse with parchment or teflon sheet as well as paper backed fusible like pellon 805. Do you have any tips and tricks for working with fusible web? I’ve searched around and didn’t see anything

Laurastar recommends using your extra plate for it. I tend to use a piece of Muslim for a press cloth.

I must admit I sorta wish I have the Laurastar lift because it would fit into my room better. I’ve used it at a shop a few times while teaching and it was great. But you must put a wool mat surface to steam on. And maybe a towel underneath it to protect your work surface.

Thanx for the video, du you think rowenta Perfect steam pro which is close to $500 as well might be a competitor? I read in the specs of rowenty that it has 7.4 bar of pressure w while laurastar has 3.5 Bar!?😢

Thank you. I personally can’t speak to that iron but I will say that this is an ironing system. The table, water tank, etc and if you’re only buying the iron from Laurastar it should be much less. So for sure check that out. Price might be more comparable to the Rowenta. Wish I could help out more. The other iron I use a lot is my Oliso pro. Great review! One question regarding your savings by not dry cleaning your husbands shirt. You now wash (cold and gentle cycles) and then finish with the laurastar, yes?

No - more spot cleaning and then the steam is given them a fresh new look. I only dry clean once in a while but the iron gets rid of bacteria.

Hi Sue, I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I'm thinking of getting this system. I have two questions; I cross stitch on linen and am looking for something to eliminate the fold lines that usually come with a folded piece of linen. I also hand dye the linen and iron it while it's wet to dry it quickly, without placing the linen in a dryer. Does this iron get hot and will it dry a wet piece of linen? Thank you so much for your help.

Hi Jerri Wonderful questions! To the point of the linen YES, I was impressed with how creases come out. That is something that many folks say about the Laurastar systems, they get out OLD cresses and wrinkles. Even old quilts that have been folded up for years and years. As for the ironing wet, my first reaction is to say yes, but I would, like any pressing surface to caution covering the surface to protect it but you already are a pro at that I'd imagine. What really answers your question is the FAN. You can scroll back to 5:01 in the video and look at that FAN! There is nothing you can even compare it to on the market. No one has anything like it. Now, you can control the power of the fan, low to high (four settings) and the direction (up and down). With light thin linen if you are blowing UP, it might move the linen all over the place but if you pull it DOWN, it will hold it in place nicely. However, if you are pressing a WET item (your dyed fabric), you would probably want to put the fan UP and it will literally dry the fabric. I have only had mine for a week but I have studied them for a year or so. I went to Branson AQS show last month and I was ready to challenge the demonstrator on its use. She knew her iron and answered all my questions. They had a great show price. Feel like I made the "best" purchase next to my sewing machines. It will make 4 Layers of cotton smooth with one swipe, steamed my favorite linen shirt quickly, and have beautiful creases in my jeans easily. (Fan going down makes creases quickly.) I can steam "no iron" shirts on the hanger..

Hello, I bought this ironing system and love it. I was wondering how you clean the sole plate and the inside of the cover to get the residue off the iron and what to use to clean it? I’m kind of OCD and can’t stand those round circle rings left on the bottom of the sole plate from the cover? There are time I don’t use my iron much so how long can you leave the water in the tank or should you change the water before using if it’s set for a while not being used? I have well water so don’t know about the hard water if it’s safe to use or not. Thank you for your help and this video really appreciate you doing this. Tammy

Sorry it took me time to get back. First off - congratulations this is an amazing ironing system!! Ok any marks you can try to remove with traditional iron cleaner but do it on top of a very tick towel (or maybe 2) - I’d double check with their customer service line but that’s what I was told. Next the water in the tank. I was told that the water should be removed if it’s gonna be more than a few days. But I’ve left mine in there for a week tops but I do press the steam button and hold the iron in the air ALWAYS before pressing onto any fabric or the board. This helps remove any left over water left in the tank.

Yes I am and yeah, I am not happy about the cord either. Especially since the European version has it. Oh well. I do use but don't have space for it to be up all the time. I take it out of the closet about 1-2 times a week. Wish I had space for it to be up all the time. Thanks :)

Well, not so fast. This is way too much for a home based sewing hobby. I have a Bernina sewing machine which is great but this “iron” is for a business. I have a Panasonic cordless iron and it las lasted almost 5 years and I use it every day. $74. Honestly, the Laurastar is way too much. Good commercial though.
