Thank you for sharing your fight with depression. I’m 60 years old and have struggled with it every day of my life. It takes everything out of you, wrings you out and leaves you empty and limp. I say it often, depression is a killer. But God is with us in every step. He isn’t unaware of our struggles and He is always available to us. Will pray for you Matt. God is good, in spite of the way things seem. Be blessed.

I do not have a favorite genre of music. It comes down to the lyrics, the music and the voice for me. I love the way you break down the different types of music and all the things you notice that I didn’t. Doesn’t hurt that I could be content just listening to you reading a computer repair manual.

I love her voice and I think that at a certain time, the song will portrait our feelings. Also, I appreciate your honest analysis of the lirics. I truly believe that you are a sensible and very intelligent person. I will look forward to your next reaction (specially if it is a Dimash's song).

I do apologize for not making it for your live stream... I fully intended on it, thought it was an hour later. I'll pay more attention to IG next time. Anyways... thank you for this video! I thought it was amazing Matthew; first video of yours that brought me to tears. As soon as her vocals first started, Adele came to my mind as well. I also noticed the capitalization of "You" in the lyrics and knew right away she was referring to God; your commentary there was like reading my mind. We won't get mad at you if you don't make a video, I think we can all understand, especially after this explanation you provided for us. Keep being you! We appreciate you 👏🏼🙌🏼😊

I love this song and your reaction and the sharing of your own struggles because it helps many people deal with their mental issues (I read the comments). The lyrics in this song can even help people who don't suffer depression in a clinical way. We all have days or periods of time when we go through dark times due to death, divorce, betrayal. So even though it is not clinical, and I send love to people who do suffer in that way, this song can be relatable to all people. Please react to Angelina Jordan's "Shield" (live) this is her original song at 12yrs. I think you would really like the lyrics. There is a music video that her grandmother made but this one does not seem to work with the lyrics although she has made one video I really love "When Your Smiling".

I usually only watch reaction videos to symphonic metal as it's so underrated and love the reactions and analysis of people when they actually take time to really listen to it. But this time my attention got caught because of the meaning this song has to me personally. So I was very curious how you got to pick this song and how you would deconstruct/analyse it. And you actually noticed one thing I really like but other people dislike, the lense flares. Also the location changes in and around the house, but I actually missed the outside looking inside part that you did catch (which was actually very obvious in hindsight). Also appreciated sharing your feelings and interpretation of the lyrics and how it affected you personally a lot. Sometimes it's nice/good to hear the personal stuff to know someone you follow on (social) media to appreciate them even more. Thanks man!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences related to depression and anxiety. Anybody who is human can relate to it, from the most optimistic person to the clinically depressed. BTW your energy is great. And you obviously have an eye for details and training in music and have a true appreciation for music. BTW, you have the qualities that you admire about Dimash. Also, love your dog Mocha 🤗🤗

@@user-mm6gm6db2y Matt, Irina said, "Good day! It's early morning, I woke up and started my day with Matt's reaction. Beautiful music, an interesting young man on the screen))) a great start to the day! There is a girl with an unusual timbre of voice and an amazing life story. Her name is Diana Ankudinova. For cruel treatment, her own mother was deprived of parental rights and little Diana was sent to an orphanage. She was taken from there by her adoptive parents. The girl did not speak at all, she was like a frightened animal. The doctors said that these were the consequences of the psychological trauma that her own mother inflicted. They advised to take the girl into singing. So, from the age of 5, for the development of speech, Diana began to study singing. All children her age played with toys, and Diana played with her voice. When she was 14 years old, she won a competition for orphans in Moscow. This competition was organized by the composer Igor Krutoy, you know him as the producer of Dimash Kudaibergenov. Now the girl is 17 years old, she is still studying, but they already talk about her as an incredible vocalist and compare her with the strongest vocalists in the world. I will leave a link to the video from her performance at the competition, please watch it, it is very interesting (You tube link to her performance included in the original text) the song is called "Rechenka" . Gregg, please translate this for Matt. Sorry that the lyrics are long, but Diana deserves that people know her not only as a vocalist, but also as a person with an amazing destiny, as an example of a stubborn struggle for life and victory in this struggle." @BoostdReviews

First to say I am not a fan of Christian music generally. I was raised traditional, hymns and all, and never developed a taste for contemporary Christian (pop/rock/metal) music. That said, this is indeed a powerful song, even in its simplicity. I do not identify as Christian anymore...the church..and other "Christians"...beat it out of me, to be honest. But I do identify with mental illness. I have lived with depression...my own, for a time, but more the outside looking in on others in my life who lived in that darkness perpetually. I have personally suffered severe and crippling anxiety as well. And whether or not you believe in "God" or just a higher power, a force beyond human...the lyrics of this song can resonate. Thank you, Matt, for sharing that part of yourself, your life experience. Sharing the burden can help, too. 💜

Man, this was a really good breakdown of the video and lyrics conveying the process of choosing to move and break out of depression. I love it, and she is an amazing singer and lyricist. What's crazy is I was just watching the music video "Clearly" by Grace Vanderwaal, and it's amazing the similarities of the feel and message of these two videos, and the artists who put them out. Check it out if you get a chance, and I'd love to hear your thoughts. Great reaction! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZcCp7488puc.html

Beautiful song, beautiful voice, but very much like Adele. I don't like it when an artist immediately reminds me of another, so I think I should work a little more in a style of my own, because she has the voice and the talent. But if I close my eyes I would think it's Adele.

Sounds quite like Lana del Ray and Adele - I like it and the timing and intonation of her lyrics, but the backing is a little [edit - make that very] overpowering. She is very good, as is the low-key video that so suits the song. i wouldn't go quite that for, as your thoughts on Adele, especially "Rolling in the Deep" but I do rather like KZ's version which puts a whole new spin on it - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wIJC5N4MEZk.html - to the point I consider it worth a review/comment.

Her voice is bland to me: a trend for female vocalists these days - the semi-raspy breathy style (not very unique), though done as well as can be expected. From the reactions I've read, many identify with the lyrics. Matt, most people struggle with the shadows in our minds (I call mine "the swarm," because that's what it feels like). I've lost my husband and more recently my mother-in-law this year (the two adults in my life I could relate to and trust), and I tell you that - quite literally - the only thing giving me hope at this moment is the fact that I bought two tickets to see Dimash in Germany next March and that I may actually get to make that trip. This year is an ongoing [crap]-show for so many of us. Thank you for all you do, but please try to internalize that our appreciation for what you do - the number of likes and shares - does not equal your worth as a person. Our culture in the U.S. tells us we are inadequate, weak, ugly, stupid, and useless unless we buy, own, display, outshine, seduce, or win everything that exists. It's hard to learn to live with simple desires and simple self-expectation. It's very very hard. If we can find just one person who encourages us that way, makes us feel our simple natures are enough, we have found a treasure beyond comparison. Sorry for the florid prose. It's been a very hard week, and now I'm guilty of internet therapy! : D Sorry. Take care.
