I'm amused at how many in the comment section are accusing her of her choice to eat meat. She is already doing so much, if everyone did that much we'd live in a better planet already. But those commenting on her meat intake don't seem to realise that, or even appreciate her efforts so far in the least. She shouldn't eat meat or this or that? Everyone on their journey. Surely starting from somewhere and progressing at our own possible way will create a joyful community instead of being judgemental.

I don't think that is what most people mean to say. She seems like she really wants to do her best and live the most sustainable lifestyle possible. When the one guy asked her about her carbon footprint that kind of threw her off and that is how you can see that she is missing something. Maybe in a few months or years she will find out about the effects of animal agriculture on the planet and she will wish that someone had told her before or that she had realized it before. The real goal should be to find a lifestyle that is sustainable in every way but that is still easy to live and to maintain within our current culture. I for one think that that is actually possible. But to achieve this, all aspects of sustainable living have to be combined. Some people are vegan but send tons of trash into landfill without realizing it while some people are zero waste but have a large carbon footprint otherwise. Even if everyone went vegan, there would still be landfills, even if everyone went zero waste, there would still be climate change. The world needs both lifestyles, plus a switch to renewable energy and green transport as well as some other measures. Baby steps are nice and should be appreciated, but we need rapid action. We need leaders and rolemodels like Lauren to see the bigger picture instead of focusing on minor details in one field while ignoring another all together.

Heads up a lot of the facts presented in Cowspiracy aren't accurate :-(. check out though Livestock's Long Shadow, a report done through the United Nations that's been well fact checked and makes an amazing argument against the animal industry.

I think she's brilliant and real. She is the Every Girl. With the culture in which we live, we will run into more walls than not. The message here is that ANYTHING you can do in the right direction is awesome. Research, learn, tweak, create, make, and whenever faced with a choice or decision choose one that is in the right direction. Nothing can be "perfect" and no one is "perfect". No situation is "perfect". All we can do is our best with the resources given at that moment. As someone wise once told me, "Your money speaks louder than your voice. Industry out for profit won't listen to lip service, they WILL listen to dollars." So as long as your money matches your values then you are in the right direction. Never criticize small steps.....they are the most important.

This is so inspiring! Learning even more from this video. I went vegetarian years ago, now vegan, and from that my life has snow balled in to learning about ahimsa (non violence), Ayurveda and now zero-low waste living. I really had to question myself as to why I wanted to switch off and unsubscribe when Lauren said she eats animals. Lauren, thank you for sharing everything you have learnt and the positive impact you are clearly making! Please don't take this as me forcing anything to you, only sending you positive vibes that you keep sharing your kick ass message and hope that maybe you also find love in your heart (that you clearly have for the planet), and include the animals in it too. We are all one in the same on this planet. I'm sure you know about the destruction caused from agriculture. I'm going to take on everything you have said, and going to work my ass off going plastic free! Plastic free living as much as we can, for the world, everyone and every thing in it. Thank you Lauren.

I'm glad she's using organic everything because that way she's not only saving the animals but she's saving the people that work in the Farms because they are dying all the time from the conventional produce that they are harvesting. I wonder if the zero waste community wonder or care for the waste that bulk store produce, which must be less than regular stores but still there is waste. Also, all the stores even second hand produce waste, so, I wonder, why would they call themselves zero waste if they are still making waste? I think that a more appropriate label for them would be low waste
@penelopetwain8332
@penelopetwain8332 5 лет назад
As you point out in your own statements, it's actually the stores that are producing the waste, not necessarily the shoppers. In fact, "zero waste" was a term that came into use specifically in reference to industries, not individuals. It was a call to hold manufacturers, etc. responsible for making sustainable choices, not the shoppers. Unfortunately, industries don't often change until they have to... Either because of changes in regulations or because of changes in consumer purchasing. That's why individuals started adopting the "zero waste" moniker for themselves. Because, the more individuals there are redirecting their funds towards companies that pursue "zero waste," the more other companies will have to follow suit so they can get people to purchase their products, too. So, individuals have more power than we tend to realize. So, if individuals can play a crucial role in that process, what's wrong with them adopting that moniker for themselves? It doesn't mean they are claiming to be 100% "Zero waste." They are simply saying they are pursuing that goal. After all, didn't this girl share that she has a jar filled with the waste that she has not been able to avoid? But "low" is not the goal. Zero is. Ultimately, though, no matter what terminology we choose to use, someone will come along and argue that we aren't actually living that lifestyle... and they'll be right. Because we're not "zero." And we're not even "low," either... even if our non-recyclable trash output can fit in a mason jar. But the point is in the pursuit, not the terminology. And arguing over something as superficial as semantics just distracts from the actual issue and makes people not want to bother listening, let alone lessening. So, in the end, the impact we make isn't limited to the physical trash we produce. And the verbal trash we spew can have a negative impact, too.

it's interesting to me that she will say she can throw out blurbs and live by example, but seemed very adamantly against veganism... just because a few people say you HAVE to live vegan, doesn't mean that's the only example to intake? like how is it okay for her to say blurbs but not for her to take in blurbs from vegans? does that make sense? anyways, love her, just wish she'd look into the environmental impacts of animal agriculture bc it is terrible!

@javiaviles4836
@javiaviles4836 8 лет назад
when changes happens (for example going on a vegan diet, replace sugary drinks with water, start exercising, quitting cigarretes etc) the body takes a certain time to adjust, things get very bad and then the get very good but it can take a while. the hair does the same. the best thing you can do to trnasition to natural shampoos is first use a claryfing shampoo or baking soda wach and then vinegar rinse that will strip your hair of the artificial waxes that have made your hair shine but have stripped it of the natural oils. after you can either use natural soap such as castile, or just water every couple of days. lots of brushing with a natural bristle brush and scalp massaging as well as a balanced diet and water intake will facilitate the transition.
@SurfergirlKH

+krystal 28 Thank you. I did the baking soda wash and liked it, vinegar on the other hand is not my thing. I will get a Dr. Bronners soap bar once I used up my regular shampoo and conditioner 👍🏻

have you tried lush shampoo bars? They are ethically produced and come without packaging. I haven't tried them myself but I intend to after I finsih my bottled shampoo. I've seen alot of other youtubers recommed them. They seem a little expensive but lush says one bar is the equivalent of three bottles of shampoo, so you would have to devide the price by three and compare to what you are currently paying.
@SurfergirlKH
@SurfergirlKH 7 лет назад
I did use the scenic lush bar and had to cut my hair off because it got so dry and brittle! DO NOT USE LUSH! I googled every single ingredient after that incident and they use Sodium Laureth Sulfate (drying, linked to cancer)and other questionable ingredients! You have to keep in mind that a lot of blogger and youtuber are being sponsored! Have a merry xmas! PS: maybe you'd like to check out my blog Nutritionistar.blogspot.com (not sponsored at all)!

SurfergirlKH have you tried diluting the apple cider vinegar? and diluting the Dr. bronners? I use the baby unscented dr. bronners for my scalp maybe that will work? also lush’s sodium lauryl sulfate is 100% from coconuts :) it’s a chemical reaction!

What would happen to all the cows when they keep breeding and have no grass to eat, because of over population. What would happen to all the chickens who are trying to find food as well as all the other animals. I’m not putting anyone down for being vegan or vegetarian it a choice that they make just as it is a choice that people choose to eat meat but I would very much like to understand

I buy second hand clothes all the time and none of them have fungus or bad bacteria lol And if you're worried about that you just throw what you buy in the washing machine on a boil wash that will kill bacteria before you wear them like you do if your own clothes got dirty with bacteria or fungus. Throwing away clothes just because they get dirty is completely wasteful.
