Same !! AllAccess turned into a sneak peek. But agreed MIP Markkanen totally deserved and cant wait to watch him play again

@Tahitison I was expecting to actually see the moment when he heard the announcement of MIP, not video before and video after 😅😂 But no need to worry about his basketball training. He has about every second day half day free to work on basketball, that's what his unit at least have said they do with athletes. And he was interviewed in Finnish news few days ago and he said that he has been able to practice and already get better on basketball during this summer 🙂 And later in summer he will be in training for and playing in FIBA world cup as a military sports command. So he will be ready for the season.

@@magicofshootingstar5825 Lauri was in finnish military rookie training when announcement was made; for some reason he got some air time at 2 am from Finland as a rookie in finnish military ;-)

@spiderone6682 I know 😄 ...and I also know that he had an overnight leave from base (I have understood you can have those if you have small kids, so he might not even have needed to take personal leave). He said in interview with Utah media, that he sneaked out and left family sleeping. And he was somewhere not home, not base to have that call 🙂 In the morning he needed to report to the duty again 😴😃

It's not easy to talk about how things are organized at the Sports School barracks without committing a crime or infringing on a service directive. They'll figure things out for him though, even NHL players and Formula 1 racecar drivers have managed to complete military training with basically no negative effect on sports careers, and organizing basketball training should be an easy one in comparison.

majority do understand. Basketball is just not as in huge news as hockey because markkanen is the only finnish there

I wouldnt say that he is the biggest name in sports to come out of Finland but top 10 perhaps.

@@user-bs4du9rh5t Not biggest but one of the recognizible along all of the nhl players and motorsport ones. I mean how many people know our cross country skiers or pole vaulters etc.

I think we understand how successfull Markkanen is, I think it's just that we simply don't care for basketball all that much. I've only ever watched one game so far, that was back in 2017 when Markkanen was playing for team Finland. But...that too was at work, in one of those classic electronics shops with that particular game on all of the 20 TV's.

@@topiheimola69 Could be. We have had much more NHL players and hockey has been our sport for long time so its nothing new that bigger part of finnish people doesnt watch it

First time I saw (and bought) a blue-cheese sauce here in Finland had his face on the bottle a year ago. Fell in love with the stuff while visiting NY-state and eating Buffalo-wings a decade ago, but haven't been able to find it here

@rusakko91 Koska olisi ollut vähemmän ajan haaskaamista istua se aika vankilassa/nilkkapannan kanssa kotona? 😂 Eiköhän Laurilla olisi ollut helpommatkin tavat kiemurrella tuosta hommasta pois, jos NHL -pelaajatkin pystyy. Mutta Lauri suorittaa velvollisuutensa, mikä on kunnioitettavaa 😃

@@magicofshootingstar5825 Ei se nilkkapanta olisi estänyt töitten tekoa, että tuomio olisi ollut selkeesti lyhyempi, kuin armeijan suorittaminen.

@rusakko91 Faktantarkistus: totaalikieltäytyjän rangaistus on useimmiten 173 vuorokautta, kun taas Laurin palvelusaika on todennäköisesti 165 päivää, josta hän voi saada 45 vuorokautta urheilukomennuksia ja johon kuuluu, olikohan se kaksi viikkoa urheiluleiritystä. Eli n. kolme kuukautta jää "normaalille" palvelukselle kasarmilla. Ja siihenkin on järjestetty harjoitteluaikaa urheiluun noin joka toiselle päivälle puolen päivän verran. Tämä toki vaihtelee, kun metsäleirit yms. Myös armeijasta Lauri on jo käynyt Utahissa lomallaan hoitamassa asioita, mutta nilkkapannan kanssa ei kotoa saa poistua kuin ennalla aikataulutettuihin työtehtäviin, korkeintaan 40(-50) tuntia viikossa eikä todellakaan ulkomaille.

Intti on kaikille vain hyvästä.

Näinä sotakiihkoilijoiden aikana pitää totaalikieltäytyminen ja siviilipalvelus ehdottamasti lopettaa. Ja jokainen sivari, joka on alle 60-vuotias takautuvasti asepalvelukseen. Kun on lähdetty kiihkoilemaan niin pidetään huolta ettei kukaan kiihkoileva sivari välty vastuulta ja on tarvittaessa käytettävissä sotimiseen.
