@@devdog720 Lauri was finally unshackled and left alone to roam the court and cause mayhem and not sit in the corner and wait for his 6 three pointers per game if they happened to happen or not... Lauri has been really badly limited on the NBA in the last 3-4 seasons before he got to the Jazz. He was just as good on the Cavs and Bulls, but never got the opportunity to showcase his true potential. He was just another long shooter... Until the Jazz coach told him to play like he did for the national team and the rest is history. Just one person giving him the green light and it was off to the races... That seven footer coming down the full court with the ball is a scary sight for any defender. You either let him score or you have to foul him... It's just that he is so big and strong that he can finish through contact.

In the last two years Markkanen's weight has dropped 15 pounds. The new objective has been set in explosiveness, improving maximum strength and staying healthy during the long season. Below are some quotes from Markkanen's physique trainer Jani Parkkinen who is also sports physiotherapeut and former basketball player (so he should know what he is doing) - ”The best performance is the ability to play, not being injured on the game day. According to studies an adequate maximum strength level of legs seems to be that kind of factor which protects from injuries” - "With Lauri we're doing extra work with his ankles, feet and calves.
