OMG! This LAUSD Coffee Cake is so well known to students of the district. But EVERYONE will love this easy, perfect cake created in 1954! This is the Original recipe and sure to bring back memories!

2 1/2 Cups Flour
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Cup Granulated Sugar
1 TSP Salt
1 TSP Nutmeg
3/4 Cup Canola or Vegetable Oil
1 TSP + 1 TSP Cinnamon
1 TSP Baking Soda
1 Egg
1 Cup Buttermilk
Combine first 6 ingredients. Remove 1/2 cup mixture into separate bowl and add 1 TSP cinnamon, set aside for topping. In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk, egg, baking soda and other TSP of cinnamon. Pour into flour mixture and blend just until mixed. Don't over mix. Pour into 13x9 greased baking pan and sprinkle set aside topping all over to cover. Bake in 375 oven for 30-40 minutes, until a toothpick or cake tester comes out clean when inserted into the center. Cool about 30 minutes and serve warm.
