Regulation 7 of the Legal Practice Act provides that candidate legal practitioners can undergo a Pupillage training programme through an independent Advocate who has been practicing for a period not less than 3 years , provided that such Advocate is enrolled with the legal practice council and agrees to enter into a practical vocational training contract with the pupils and undertakes to train such pupil as per the requirements of the act.
The pupil will also need to complete 400 Notional hours of coursework by an institution recognised by the LPC to provide such training/ coursework.
The pupil will still need to write the legal practice council national bar examinations and pass them in order to be admitted.
