Lawn Boy by Jonathan Evison || Library Unhaul 

My kid has really only been interested in nonfiction for the past couple of years - with a big interest lately in biographies about people who lived through the American Revolution & memoirs from his favorite athletes - so I probably wouldn't recommend this contemporary fiction to him.
