Picked up this really nice 10323 last week to use as my "daily driver". A very nice mower, especially for the price I paid. This video was also shot, edited, and uploaded on my iPhone 7. So hopefully the quality is passible.
Good mowers those. I have a 10324 which is identical to your 10323, and a 10550 which is the cast aluminum deck version of the duraforce. These were made 1998-2004 I believe, as 2004 was the last year for 2 cycle Lawn Boys. I got both of mine very cheap as both needed a CD module/coil 😂
You got a really good deal 👌. Some people just don't know the quality of these mowers. I am on the 5 Lawnboy. Planning to find a Duraforce LB in the coming spring. Have fun. Good video!
Yes, we have a 10331 and a 10550...both well built and durable except for ignition module..spray module with wd-40 ( or smear with silicone grease ) to prevent moisture migrating in thru coil laminations. Easy stride system ( 10550 ) is simply no good...won't climb hills without a lot of pushing on sliding handle. Locked handle in place and added conventional lever...much better. Added 10548 3 speed transmission to slow down ground speed....worth working with...good mowers...
Thank you for this great video! Now that thing with the coil is typical. In the last 10 years, I have had massive problems with all different types of NGK plugs. So it doesn´t surprise me that those coils fail. In my opinion, NGK is crap.
Do those bags with the black handles fit on the same chutes as the bags without the black handle? The chutes look exactly the same. Or are chutes different in some way?
I have a 2002 model 10550 but can't seem to find a bagger kit either rear or side. Not sure if the ones on ebay will fit. It's the standard Lawn Boy deck with the staggered wheels.
@@Rustbelt_Research Good to know because I found a side bag kit for under 50 bucks on a website but it seems too cheap to be real. I think maybe they're in the UK.
I use Echo PowerBlend Synthetic, at 50:1 typically. With the modern oils, even with a leaner mixture, the engine runs cooler and isn't nearly as smoky.
Very curious about why those machines have offset front wheels, and individual height adjustment.... Back here in England, I use a 1980 Hayterette, with a 5hp Briggs engine. Cast aluminium deck, it has an 18 inch flywheel, onto which 4 free floating blades are bolted. All the wheels are connected with rods, so one lever does all 4. It’s old, but very effective! Ohh, what do you think of mustie1 and his new safari windows?
The offset wheels serve two purposes, first is for scalping, like David said. Second is for airflow. By placing the discharge chute in front of the wheel, you create a vortex path for the air to exit the deck. This allows for greater airflow, and thus greater lift and vacuum.
Toro owns the brand name rights, but I believe most modern Lawn-Boy mowers are essentially a Chinese lawn mower that has been rebranded. Toro has been doing that with their ultra-cheap models for a decade or so.
