Lawyer Reacts: Depp v Heard Trial Day 13 Recap 

Abusers rarely invite the abusers family and friends to move in, quite the opposite, they isolate them.

It's impossible for him to have done everything the doctor said to her without her going to a hospital. And it's impossible if she had gone through this to have managed to hide it. As a survivor of domestic violence for years by my father and later by a boyfriend, no makeup in the world can hide aggression as she describes.

Funny how she couldn't remember the test results without her notes but she could recount Amber's entire life since 2012 without pause lol. She's clearly been given a script.

That supposed "professional" clinical forensic psychologist was so biased! She acted like Amber's bestie, getting so emotional and blaming Johnny & every other male on the planet with domestic violence. Apparently only women can be dv victims, men are the abusers? WTF?

I am a mental health professional in the UK and I was frankly appalled at the gender bias in all of her argument. She also presented any incident she had been told or read as fact which was also bonkers.

It was sickening, disgusting that a professional, Amber’s psychologist took information from Amber, then unprofessionally and without witnesses, to her stories of abuse etc, as fact, when it’s only what AH told her, disturbing!

Gotta remember that Dr. Curry is a PTSD expert and she said that Amber did NOT have PTSD. The expert that testified today is not a PTSD expert. Huge different between the two.

I don't need a psychologist to tell me that AH is a narcissist. My mother acted just as they described AH. Even the ranting if someone would try to escape a heated discussion because we were aware that it would only escalate. My mom actually broke her leg hanging on to the car as her 4th husband was trying to drive away from a fight. I was called so many names throughout my life, but the mind games and the lying about what I had done was the worst. I finally went no contact in my 50s because of a very histrionic event. Any person living with a person like that, starts feeling constantly defamed. There is usually no one in your acquaintance that hasn't been told how awful the victim is.

Rottenborn: Amber did not write the headline alleging SV Expert witness: the most psychologically distressing thing in all of this for Heard was claiming the SV was a hoax. Am I crazy or are these statements contradictory?

Amber was actually arrested for domestic abuse with her wife (or girlfriend?) a few years back. I hope they bring this to court

If A.H. was so abused..allegedly sexually and physically then why on earth would she want to try to reconcile at a hotel after she filed for divorce? That would be ludicrous! Justice for Johnny all the way!!!

I would like to know if is normal for lawyers to bully witnesses and the judge allowing it? Is uncomfortable to watch how they are being treated by AH team.

As a psychologist I can positively say that WE SPENT SO MUCH TIME LEARNING ABOUT ETHICAL & REGULATORY GUIDELINES FROM WHICH WE MUST ABIDE. ADDITIONALLY, TRANSPARENCY, ETHICS, & PROFESSIONALISM IS UPPERMOST IMPORTANT AS WE ARE REFERENCING TO SOMEONES HEALTH WHETHER BE AT THE WORKPLACE OR AT A CLINICAL SETTING. REPORTS ARE CONSTRUCTED IN AN UNBIASED MANNER AND UTILIZING TERMS SUCH AS “PT/EMPLOYEE STATED THAT XYZ” IF THE INDIVIDUAL IS REFERENCING TO DV OR SA “PT/EMPLOYEE CLAIMED DV & NO PHYSICAL INJURIES WERE OBSERVED, OR INJURIES WERE NOTED IN THE RIGHT ORBITAL AREA INCLUDING REDNESS, SWELLNESS ON THE UPPER EYELID, PT WAS ASKED IF SHE/HE SOUGHT MEDICAL ASSISTANCE, PT WAS REFERRED TO THE DV PROGRAM ETC ETC”, “DR. HUGHES” TESTIMONY IS AN INSULT PROFESSIONALLY SPEAKING AS SHE EVIDENTLY DID NOT HAVE ANY PROFICIENCY & VAST KNOWLEDGE ABOUT DV & SA. PERSONALLY, using a witness testimony from a supposedly mental health expert such as “Dr. Hughes” affected in such a negative manner AH, as it was the most UNPROFESSIONAL, OUT OF A MOVIE, NON REALISTIC, GENDER BIASED, UNETHICAL STATEMENT ANY INDIVIDUAL COULD HAVE RESOURCED TO…

This "expert" Hughes was disgusting on so many levels. Men suffer EXTREME levels of abuse because they know they CAN'T hit back DUE to the size and weight differences of involved parties. Instead, they take it and take it, or they leave the premises like JD did. What's their recourse? They have none. They under report and endure atrocities solely because they ARE male. Where is the "expert" testimony to this? Hope to God JD's team brings it up....

I totally picked up on the "she/he' from the 'doctor'. That kind of bias is not lost on the jury.

It felt like 90% of what Dr Hughes said during trial was her bragging about her own accolades

a woman who thinks she had glass in her va jay jay would go to the hospital - give me a break - and there is a video of her on a night talk show a day after she claims she was beat up i hope depps lawyers bring that up - its on twitter -

Granade witness! I'm a mental health ER specialty nurse with a masters degree. Her testimony was EXTREMELY DAMAGING & consistently inconsistent, hearsay, & unprofessional. They testified of heard reporting extreme violence all aong in therapy... rapes, penetrations, beat downs... the law is... before we see any patient in psych... we ask them about being abused... past, present... once they admut to it... stop... call the police... report the abuse. She can opt out but professionals are mandated reporters. According to their testimony they heard ongoing abuse & sat on it. Didnt even divert her to any resources. That's how professional they are... u can loose a license over this if u are a specialist in this field. It's malpractice to a high degree. I found that she played it more like a social advocate & gave no research... in the actual testimony & relied heavily on conclusions from others hear say notes. She kept saying the victim's always female 🙄& men are always perpetrators when defining terms of abuse... goes to bias. Psychiatrist are specialized doctors. They do not see u more than once if u're not ill. If they see u ongoing for yrs u got issues. They specifically evaluate for mental illnesses/ disorders & if a person qualifies they set a plan, give u medications, & point to other resources such as therapists. For u to see a psychiatrist ongoing it means u are not a chat buddy or unloading stress bc that's not what they do. They only treat illness... not social coping mechanisms. In all our treatment in the hospital for insurances to accept treatment patients who arent imediately diverted after 1 initial evaluation... they must be given a diagnosis & treated with medicine. If heard was treated by psychiatrist ongoing only 1 thing is for sure. She has diagnosis level problems. Even if it's just anxiety... but her providers make no sense. They said she spent yrs unable to sleep, anxious, unable to socialize, crying, loosing weight down to 105lbs & was never diagnosed with depression or anxiety atleast????? It's at best dishonest. U can't exibit sympoms of diagnoses & be treated at lenth but without acknowledging them. Everything she listed here symptoms of depression & they weren't even honest enough to allow her that diagnosis bc they have the other narrative that she has trauma but without other psych damage. They establishe so many bombs as facts that can't be proved & should have been atleast diagnoses. Sounds like we are hearing this for the 1st time ever bc heard's lawyers have never asked depp's witnesses about any of these crazy incidents. Example of professional negligence: she dropped to 105 lbs! (First of all none of us saw her loose qeight. She looks bigger than before marriage... so did any of these doctors record her weight? Is it documented? Bc 1 would look like the holocaust.) Following up to that she wasnt diagnoses with depression or eating disorder... 🤔 was she diverted to a nutritionist? According to maslow's hierch of needs we treat medical problems before psychological. Meaning u need actually to be physically well to worry about ur mental. If all these professionals witnessed 105 lb adult... @ that point this is anorexia (anorexia isnt just when u're choosing not to eat... it's factually simply if u are not eating... could be from being unable to...) if they didn't ever secure her physical well being & kept booking therapy... yah their licenses are a joke. The funny thing is... this is their own testimony. Their reputation is meaningless. I was shook! If the Dep team doesnt destroy them on cross I will seek my own evaluation!

Dr. Hughes has shown nothing but biased and unprofessional testimony here. Even Dr. Shannon Curry did not testify that Amber was or was not abused by Johnny. And also Dr. Curry even said it is not the psychologist’s job to investigate and asses if something is fact nor come to these conclusions. Their only job is to support the client with therapy. And for Dr. Hughes to say that the severity of domestic violence on males by female partners is minimal and not traumatic because of the male physique is a disgrace and sets back all the male victims of domestic violence. This is why male victims are not taken seriously or given equal voices and justice as female victims. It's archaic and uneducated attitudes like Dr. Hughes who perpetuate this nonsense that domestic violence is only a female issue. She should have her certification stripped and be barred from practicing. Domestic violence is a "human" issue NOT a female only gender issue.

She's already been proven of lying throughout the case can't wait for Johnny's legal teams cross of Amber especially after seeing Ben Chew in action today.

amber DOES NOT have PTSD - why wasnt she triggered - during all this awful claims her expert was saying - amber no hands shaking - no twitching no hysterics - no PTSD face - there is NO Way amber has PTSD

I would like to point out that the bottle in the vageygey incident is another similarity to the Gone Girl movie . Almost seems like Amber Turd watched it as means to prep for this and the UK trials.

I think the bottle question was with regards to the AU incident. Amber claimed JD violated her with a bottle and hoped it wasn't the broken one. That means that his finger would have been injured already (since the broken bottle was referenced). If he violated her after his finger was injured, she should have had some amount of blood on her after the alleged violation . . .

To me everything she described about the male abuser was in line with all the testimony from everyone about Ambers behavior…lol

she threw the notes at depps attorneys - it was crazy - she was mad she had to give the notes and she was very rude - watch the last 10 min lol

Do you think she was "coached to say gentlemen" because Johnny described himself as aspiring to be a gentleman.

The recording of AH taunting JD that was he, "going to stand up before the jury and say, 'yes I, Johnny Depp, am a victim of domestic violence?'" And he answered, "yes!" Is so damning of Amber. It has turned into a self-fulfilling prophecy now. Think that is going to play very badly when it is reiterated in front of the jury.

Every statement Dr. Hughes made with “she” could have been reversed with “he” and it perfectly would have fit Johnny.

I know I'm late for the live, but I have a question. Is it possible that the ACLU paid for Dr. Hughs? or at the very least recommended her to Amber's lawyers. She sounded very much like an ACLU proponent.

This psychologist was far too biased. Her demeanour and actions were just odd. Did she forget who her duty is owed to. She was a poor poor witness who regurgitate what amber said. She baffled me and I found her just hard to watch. She has aggressive behaviour ins court. clear one sided and I hope in Johnny cross they show her for the fraud she is. Her bottle story was even more of a joke. I hope it’s not broken - lady no one will sit there and take a bottle internally. Amber is vicious she is not a wall flower. She was shameful!

The expert threw her notes to the jd lawyers after the jury left. They went up to get them and she basically threw them down . She was not happy.

The comment about the bottle being inserted into her, I would of thought if that really happened she would of brought it up when arguing so she could get it on recording. I don't believe this at all. It's so out of left field and nothing at all in Johnny's nature. Given all his past relationships have spoken up to how kind he was and is

The “kick” - the one that sent her flying from the back of the plane to the front according to Dr. Hughes-was witnessed on the plane, only is was a playful nudge. I think this goes to show how easily Amber can twist the truth. It’s a good thing there were plenty of people on that plane. If there was only Depp, Heard and another witness then it would leave room for doubt. However, abuse on the level she claims would certainly be witnessed by at least one other person. She would have been better off claiming it all happened behind closed doors.

I’m a new sub. Thank you I’m glad I found your channel. I would like to say I’m watching this trial as a almost fatal survivor of DV. Before this trial I didn’t know of AH at all and very little of Johnny only watched one of his very early movies. I love that someone brought up reactive abuse, because from everything I’ve heard or seen in this trial AH is the abuser. Most of her behaviour was exactly the same as my abuser. I was so upset with the so called expert today. I’m also glad you discussed the SA remarks. I look forward to watching more of your videos. 🙂

I agree that Ben Chu was amazing and I'm also looking forward to his closing too! It was passionate while still respectful to the judge and very articulate. Dr Hughes was just ridiculous and I really hope they rip it apart on cross. She made it sound like she was there when she had only been told by amber and agree that she was SO biased against men.

I'm a licensed therapist. Mandated reporting in NY, like most states, is only required in case of abuse of childrren, elders and vulnerable adults (intellectual disabilities for example). Think about it: a person who is abused and wants to explore treatment and make their own choices about their lives, we don't want control taken out of their hands and force them into legal proceedings. All people, especially victims, need support for their own self-determination and reporting laws are correct.

The title of the op ed include an implied quote. It reads, “Amber Heard: I spoke up against sexual abuse- and faced our cultures wrath.” Who’s the “I” if it’s not Amber?

How is the testimony from Amber"s Psych doctor not complete hearsay?!? She is testifying about other people's conclusions in their notes (not only hers) and testifying about what Amber claimed without having witnessed those incidents herself!!!

Funny ...in the UK trial Amber bullied her sister, Whitney to say that she was pregnant at Cochella and that it was HER, Whitney that vomited at Cochella...NOT AMBER! I'm pretty sure I remember that correctly.

Also, the forensic psychologist for Depp’s team said she administered a formal PTSD exam, so if Amber failed that exam, how could that psychologist possibly be biased? A test’s results are the results.

I'm watching our livestream for the second time so I am answering your first question. You asked for a before and after grade from Johnny testimony. I tried to be unbiased before the trial. Then after watching JD testimony...it swayed my opinion. I give his testimony an 8.5 to 9...close to hitting a homerun!

All those years ago there was more analysis from serious lawyers / judges like Catherine Crier and legal reporting from Beth Karas. Then came the bias-style entertainment reporting of Nancy Grace - which I am not interested in. That has made me search for a site like yours - so glad I found you. I think Dr. Hughes is crazy for looking at a primarily male jury and talking about men being abused way less then women. Especially after the audio tapes and Depp's statements. I think it made Hughes look too biased for a expert witness. Dr. Hughes was also way less likable then Dr. Curry. Dr. Curry seemed passionate, while Dr. Hughes was robotic in her testimony.

I think the overly biased hearsay was good (for jd). Prior to that, her testimony was at best muddying the waters with and at worst invalidating dr. Curry’s testimony With the endless hearsay going unabated, an unbiased juror initially willing to hear her out would be more likely to be turned off by the clearly biased testimony than not.

I think C+ before and A after. I am really relying on you for updates on the Heard case in chief. You, a professional, have a stronger stomach for bs than I do.

The reason there's a break next week is because the Judge has a prior engagement to speak to college grads at a college graduation. That's why.

Johnny’s lawyers let Dr Hughes talk her head off, they allowed her to retell Ambers entire story where Dr Curry said it’s unethical to do a lawyers job.

The explanation for 2018 made sense. Johnny didn't work for half an year so makes sense that it's half the earnings. And 2017 shows that whatever happened in 2016 didn't kill his career. But what happened after 2018 when he wasn't taking a break? Earnings didn't return to where they were in 2017 and 2017 is consistent with 2015 and prior.

Another question...Do you watch the Behavior Guys? They did a you tube show analyzing Johnny Depp's testimony. I like watching them because they focus on nonverbal facial movements and make educated guesses about the truthfulness. I'll email you the link if you'd like.

I totally agree with Indhushree Rajan's comment. Reactive Abuse perfectly explains JD's reaction to her abuse.

This is important.. a client has to be honest with answers.. if she is telling the counselor what they want to hear to appear as a victim, openly lying, the counselor is expected to believe the client with the kind of allegations she is making.

But she sure had experience with Amber and her “ stories”! Like, was she on the airplane to see JD kick her in the back? Or in the bedroom to see the sex stuff? Psychologist said it was just a post It note, which turned into just a briefcase with pages and pages in it. 2. Psychologist gender bias. 3. Even if these things happened, what kind of psychologist brings up details of clients abuse, knowing victim will testify herself, and knowing that it’s distressing to patient. She could have given her opinion without detailing abuse. I heard some real victims via Popcorned Planet speak today who were so upset after hearing psychologist testimony. Obstacles to overcome for JDs team: AH had been informing her therapists of abuse throughout relationship which makes her more believable Verbal and psychological abuse is now being equated with domestic violence Travis said in that one argument that JD and AH were both being verbally abusive which somehow now seems to be assumption that JD was emotionally abusive Generally, JDs team more mild mannered so I’m not sure how effective objections and cross will be. I don’t understand why some very damning audiotapes (AH screaming she was sorry and she didn’t mean to do it in Australia) and videos (her driving to Coachella)

My mother Linda Appenfeldt in St. Petersburg was a forensic psychologist board certified from university of Miami, Go Cains I grew up with this and Nova is horrible where Hughes received her Ph.D a joke school

It would be so fascinating to dig into all of the previous cases that this doctor has testified in and see if she was biased in those too, and if any of those guys were proven innocent later or something

It’s clear there is active addiction in this situation. As a recovering alcoholic and also member of Alanon, my experience tells me that her ‘disease’ and personality disorder promoted her participation in a relationship with a man who seems to have addictions. Alcoholism is a self diagnosing disease, and those that choose to live with someone whose substance abuse affects them in a negative way, are responsible for their choices as well as their own behavior within the relationship. If what she says is true, that she was so upset and distraught with the situation, one would think she would leave and seek help

I've never seen such a biased unprofessional "expert" witness. She had 100s of cases under her belt, yet, she was unhappy about being reprimanded for reading off her notes. When Curry was on the stand they wouldn't even let her refer to her notes. Hughes testimony came off as biased, unprofessional, and staged. THEN the sexual abuse being a hoax hurt amber the most.... they(AH) fought against that even being her words in the motion to strike!

I'm a victim of DVD and I am finding that I'm team Johnny. Looking forward to hearing Amber Heard testify!! But I'm sure I'm still going to be team Johnny!!!

Hughes is a reflection of Amber's mentality, with her stance that victims of violence are always women subjected to men's violence, and that women can "fight back".
