This is his behaviour in a courtroom setting, with a judge, baillifs, and cameras streaming to the world . I can’t imagine what all the women in his life have endured for the last 39 years.
I think that's what the Judge finally understood friday. Hence her change in behavior today. No more bullshit. He badgered not only herself, but 2 females witnesses, and by some weird extension, his own mother. And that wasn't gonna fly 🌿
And yet, it may be accurate. Well, half of it is accurate. I am glad the judge is finally shutting this clown up when he begins his dance of obfuscation.
Hey, I actually think if that statement could magically somehow make it so, his ego wouldn't allow him to admit being ignorant. He's so particular of certain words being spoken, he couldn't have that stand. LOL
@@titanuranus it won’t hold up because things he said while he was saying he “didn’t understand” made it known that he did know what he was doing. She even pointed that out twice.
As someone who lives in Waukesha County in a neighboring suburb to the City of Waukesha, I appreciate your commentary on this case. I will watch you forever because of this. Thank you for covering this case.
His claim of "Sovereign Citizenship" appears to have come about since he was incarcerated so he knows very little about their philosophy. He's a games player and in the past seems to have been successful as a bully and gaslighting.😉👍
As an appellate attorney, I appreciate the judge's diligence in creating a thorough, detailed record. It may seem tedious, but it can be very helpful on appeal.
As a Danish citizens and living in Denmark, have been a lay judge for some years, so I know the Danish system of justice (we don't have live court tv in Denmark - maybe when sentence is being read from the Supreme Court). All criminal cases starts at The City Court and can be appeal to High Court ~ hole new trail. Depending on what the penalty is for the specific crime(s) there will be lay judges or jury (up to 4 years = lay judges. More than 4 years a jury). A 1. degree homicide will normally give between 10-12 years - if done as a part of gang violence it could be +50%. If the crime have been planned or some very horrible elements and the defendant have been evaluated by forensic psychologist and psychiatrist it could be life - but always with the possibility for parole (normally around 17-20 years - but some have served up to midt 30 years). So it have been very fascinating to watch a trail with this magnitude - and also how a very hostile defendant, represent him self. Talking to the judge as he did - will not happen in little nice Denmark.
@@_jhynh Exactly! Didn't his opening statement say 'there's two sides to every story'? ... And then never mentioned/alluded to said other side again. All he did was try to prove he wasn't the one the witnesses saw. Except for today when he pulled the 'it was the car's fault!', card...which if true, would have been his defence from the start, before he even knew about a recall.
That's literally his defense. His primary defense is that the court has no right to try him in the first place. It's a stupid defense, but it's his defense.
That would be true if he even knew what "the system" is. In this case, he's just trying to virtue signal some bizzare social justice defense that doesn't have any coherent substance whatsoever. You ever seen the movie IT where Pennywise the Clown does that weird dance? That's what Brooks does everytime he's asked a question.
@@iamthedave3 he had an absurd amount of defences that all contradicted each other. “The car’s accelerator didn’t work, but the car’s brakes didn’t work, but I was in the heat of the moment after abusing two women, but it also wasn’t me, but you also can’t hold me accountable for my actions because laws don’t apply to me, but your judicial actions are unfair.”
Common tactic of Sovcits is to obstruct and delay as much as possible. In fact they actually state you should overload the system with as much paperwork appeals and objections as possible, they call it paper terrorism. Unfortunately for them it has never worked 🤣 so basically their mantra is just be as annoying as possible, but being annoying doesnt absolve you of your crime
Yeah I read some of their papers today from a link on reddit. It was basically that. Put it with a personality like Brooks and it’s a recipe to drive the court to drink
She’s amazing! How this man child has not tipped her or the prosecutors, or bailiffs for that matter, over the edge is just amazing! The patience of all of them is admirable! I could NOT have contained myself! It’s like having your eyebrows plucked (I can’t stand having my eyebrows plucked 😩) for 3 weeks solid!! 🤦🏻♀️😩😫
He’s running scared. He knows he screwed up badly by representing himself and his narcissism is taking a huge hit and he is lost. He has no idea what to do. Karma.
Well he didn't really have much to lose representing himself. His defense attorneys wouldn't be able to stop his conviction and life sentence is mandatory. He is well and truly fucked
I really think he's doing all this on purpose. I don't know if he thinks it's going to get his verdict thrown out or if he likes pissing off the government... its hard to tell but I definitely don't think he's taking anything seriously.
That judge has helped him tremendously while at the same time refusing to be baited. She’s done exceptionally well and he’ll no have no excuse for an appeal. I’m almost enjoying the panic rising in him.
He knew he was screwed. That's why he really lashed out towards the end. He is to much of a coward to just say no he won't testify. He really believed he could hold the trial up by saying he didn't understand. It was epic that she steamed rolled right over him and made the decisions that she did. Ha!
@@worsethanjoerogan8061 Well, he's HOLDING the bible. You have to turn the pages to actually read. Unless he's got a BRAILLE bible, so he can use a blindness defense?
I've been standing by the judge this entire trial. I thought she was trying to do her best. I also thought that she was doing exceptionally well today. I'm just happy she stood up to him and kept to her word. I can't imagine being put in that kind of situation. I imagine it being difficult.
She was way too intelligent and experienced for his childish behaviour, every strategy he employed worked against him, she did frustrate a lot of people but at the same time the record will reflect the same and would frustrate the appealate court as well, she was so through with her decisions. She did an excellent job I believe as well and will be willing to defend her actions. Also if any day if there is a clip of Judge Dorow losing her patience then the other person is going to be so badly blamed
What ticked him off today was that the Judge denied the admission of his car’s class action lawsuit that he wanted first-off, and he’s been throwing a tantrum ever since. His enabling mother sent him the information about it.
Very true. I imagine DB had spent every waking moment believing he had cracked the case and would be a free man after his bulletproof Brady claim. It was funny to hear him stumble through that argument. Almost as bad as his “alarming and very concerning” Reddit arguments😊
This is how Darrell Brooks (yes I know he objects to being called that name) gets through life. At some point he figured out that if he just interrupts, talks over, and sealions people they'll eventually let him get his way because he wears them down. Every moment he isn't talking is spent figuring out how to further disrupt and delay. He knows the end of the tunnel is coming and the light is a freight train barreling down on him.
I so really wished they'd shock his a$$. It's so disgusting and unnerving and I know what the judge is doing but I guarantee if the judge was a man, he wouldn't do all that he's doing.
@@kathy2929 Sealioning is defined as such: A type of trolling or harassment that consists of pursuing people with relentless requests for evidence, often tangential or previously addressed, while maintaining a pretense of civility and sincerity ("I don't understand."), and feigning ignorance of the subject matter.
@@kathy2929 what faultypremise said. I would add, if you have ever heard sea lions in real life it's an apt term. 😂 You can't hear yourself think. I eventually got used to the noise but man, I went back to school with a new found appreciation.
I think he was really relying on that lame vehicle recall and court case involving the same type of vehicle he had. When the judge shot that down as irrelevant he was REALLY mad!!! The brakes not working was his main excuse--he doesn't have that now!!!
@@bcastle2397 so funny when he goes back to prison, finds something he thinks will be something then is shut down!!!! Its the best! He goes back to the prison telling his buddies what happened and they say oh say this say that use this use that and the DENIED! So funny!
I have met and known so many Darrell Brooks-type characters in my life, I knew this guy the moment he opened his mouth. I cannot wait for the jury to shut it for good.
My dad had a cluster of patients like this. I had to deal with them about billing, scheduling, if their papers were signed or filed with various legal proceedings. It was horrible. It was also an education in how they will do the reverse of this to try to charm and manipulate you to do what they want/bend the rules for them.
He’s the type that if you engage in ANY way it’s getting caught in a spider web. You really have to go no contact with these types unfortunately this judge cannot do that…she’s doing an excellent job maneuvering this nut case
Exactly. It makes me know she cares about his getting as fair a trial as he can, in spite of himself. Like a toddler who's so tired he throws a tantrum when given a nap, he has no idea what's good for him.
@@sjkaykay5842 For sure he's not stupid but he definitely has a very adolescent way of thinking, on top of whatever diagnosis he has. No impulse control whatever.
Honestly I feel that sometimes she let it go on too long. "I'm giving you one last chance..." Except she'd already said that like 5 times. This happened several times. She let him play her. Don't take this wrong. She showed the utmost patience.
@@semperpieeatordie6990 Were you making a joke, like you already looked it up? If not, it means a perfect example of something sad or at least bittersweet.
I don’t understand how he’s still able to represent himself, but also be so disrespectful to a judge that’s trying to help him represent himself effectively.
The Judge has commented on this she made the ruling and reversing it would further delay the trial which is exactly what Brooks is looking to do. That and contempt charges. She stated those will not be happening. This case is going forward with the least amount of delay as possible.
It's hilarious that the da explains it absolutely perfect and the judge also explains it perfectly and brooks didn't listen to any of it and acts like he is being screwed over, when he is completely wrong.
If you think his outburst are wild, wait until the verdict is read. His dismissed public defender is dancing around with glee and saying "thank you for for firing me. So glad I didn't have to deal with him." When the jury is sent to deliberate the verdict, they will just walk out to the hall turn around come back in and say guilty.
They've got a full day of work at least just filling up the verdict paperwork.. Reading the instructions alone will take the judge around 4 hours.. But yes, I think he will get an historical sentencing, probably the maximum lifetimes without possibility of parole possible 🌿
@@angieroxx1006 I'll bet you it was deliberation last night and all filling forms out today. So what, 2 hrs for deliberation? Divided by 76 counts? So, 3 minutes deliberation per count? Is my maths right?
This has to be the *ONLY* felony, six-time, first-degree murder case, where the *ONLY* things the prosecutor had to do was give an opening and closing statements and *WIN!!!!*
I know it seems easy to criticize this judge but please remember that just watching this we are getting very emotional just watching this. Can you imagine having to deal with him like she has to? I think she is doing an amazing job. I truly admire this judge.
There was a discussion among peers, probably, but that's not what intensified her approach: I think that's what the Judge finally understood friday. Hence her change in behavior today. No more bullshit. He badgered not only herself, but 2 females witnesses, and by some weird extension, his own mother. And that wasn't gonna fly 🌿
@Virginie It was because the defense had finished presenting his case. That's all she needed for a fair trial. Everything else he doesn't really *have* to take part in.
The way he looked, spoke, his demeanor when he said "you've been slick" was as if he was talking to a woman, mother, mother of his child, and any person he felt he was superior to them/mainly a "her."
He went into that courtroom with the Ford class action lawsuit singing "I've gotta golden ticket....I've gotta chance to win this case.....I've gotta golden ticket to leave this place"...... DENIED!!!
I feel so bad for the jury.....I want to know how many times, how many steps, how many minutes they had to turn right back around. They took it all in & delivered what was needed.
Guy got the fairest shake I've ever heard of lol Even the prosecution was like "you probably shouldn't bring up xxx because if you do that opens the door to some other previous charges you definitely don't want the jury to hear."
@@mariee.5912 Certainly. I actually believe he's intelligent enough that if he weren't exactly like my son's father.. he probably could have been quite capable of at least doing a decent job representing himself for a 40 something criminal gang member rapper that lives of his Momma.. However he's so conceited that he literally lives in his own world, he truly thinks he should be found innocent simply bc he is he, he believes he is better than everyone, he thinks he cam outsmart everyone, he thinks the world owes him something and he is so delusional in his self absorption that he really believes he's intitled to be a rude, arrogant, disrespectful brat. His own set of morals & manners are so low that it leaves him incapable of even realizing how terribly disrespectful he's being. He will soon realize, that same vile behavior really screwed himself.. when he very possibly may have been able to put up a decent defense for himself and at least convince the jury that he didn't Intentionally murder the victims.. and I pray he has the rest of his life to reflect on it.
Just found your channel, very interesting listening to your comments. I couldn't believe it when he asked the judge, "why is it so hard for you to answer yes or no?". He persistently refused to answer 'yes' or 'no'; he was a hypocrite. I don't remember him answering any question with 'yes' or 'no'; he always answered a question with a question. So rude, as well as really, really, REALLY, annoying. The constantly making the same record several times a session was really annoying as well.
For everyone's info..... 6 counts of intentional homicide, 61 counts endangering the safety, 6 counts of hit and run ending death, 2 counts of bail jumping, 2 counts of assault. In Wisconsin, they serve life consecutively however, they have to serve the minimum years... ie 25 to life he'd have to serve 25. Yet another fun fact: they add all years of all charges... so by my count he faces 447 yrs and $1.6 million dollars in fines.
Let's not forget the other charges he is currently facing. He has court (another jury trial) starting in mid-November for running over his child's mother with his SUV amongst other charges, he was sued and lost (Case 2021CV003436) to America Mutual ins and another party (appears that he used a vehicle another time to wreck something) - he owes over $10k for that judgement (finalized in March '22)... I'm sure there's more out there in Nevada and Georgia too. I hope prison is awful for this menace.
“How do I know this is legal, your Honor?” I love that Brooks constantly acts like if the court isn’t living up to his standards, he’s just gonna take off. Lmao. Bro, you can’t even use the bathroom without her permission. She could snap her fingers and have 5 large men tie you to the chair, gag you, and drag you out the room. Without even standing up from her west or raising her voice.
First, Mr. Brooks decided to be his own attorney. And most importantly he decided to drive into a parade. Emily, thank you for all of your explanations, I am so glad to have found your channel.
As a nurse, I hope I have the patience in my field that Judge Dorow has shown in hers. My goodness. Hats off to the Prosecution and May the Lord be with the victims and their families.
Missed your live 😔 the box fort was top tier toddler. I have a feeling he will not be in the main courtroom anymore. I am bummed that we didn't get to hear his mom testify. Also, the bailiffs are saints, they deserve some paid time off after today for sure!
Brooks said, "If I told my mother to be here, she would be here. You can bet that!" As far as the record making from the judge, IMO she is 'speaking' to the appealat court. I personally COMMEND HER!
@@itsjustlaurel1531 I listened to an interview with his mother and YES, she's partly to blame. She said, "he did not mean to kill nobody". THEN SHE SAID, "he was off his meds". THEN SHE SAID Brooks' ex girlfriend "lied" on him 🤔🤦♂️😏🙄. She ALSO SAID he has had "problems" since he was "7 years old". She said he gets "manic" and "goes off". So, WHY did she allow the "manic" to drive HER vehicle? PLUS, the "manic" doesn't even have a driver's license 🤦♂️. It's obvious Brooks has never been held accountable for ANYTHING! Smh
He’s not stupid. If you watch him, he learns by copying other people. He’s not as smart as he thinks though. He doesn’t know that some words came have have a different meaning in law and doesn’t get distinctions like he keep saying she calls him “in contempt”, or what the different objections mean. If he was little less arrogant and listened when she’s answering him, she’s actually helped me understand some legal stuff by trying to help him out.
I’m very close as well. I’m in Delafield and we are growing impatient of this man making a mockery of the court in front of victims, families and friends. Justice can’t come fast enough.
For sure!! I moved out of state over 20 years ago now, but I was born at Waukesha Memorial and grew up there! This has all been tragic and further circus antics by this 🤡 “I am not Mr Brooks” feels so much like insult after injuries!
Tell me you have a problem with female authority without telling me you have a problem with female authority. If he can’t control himself in the courtroom then it’s no surprise he couldn’t control his actions when plowing into innocent pedestrians.
Emily, I so wish she would one time say, “this is my courtroom- sit down and close your mouth” and then follow through. It’s like a child, if you don’t follow through on punishment threats. The child learns that you won’t ground them. One time follow through and see what happens.
This was my first time watching you, Ms. Baker, as a random recommendation by RU-vid. I greatly appreciate your approach and manner of dealing with this - not just with pointing out where Brooks is legally and factually wrong, but pointing out how the judge is making everything harder than it needs to be. I'll be looking forward to more!
@@jenbee2578 Oh, I was already a Law Nerd. Before this, I've watched Law Talk With Mike and Natalie Lawyer Chick... but before even that, my mother's a retired Family Law attorney. ;)
I'm watching again - I'm hooked, what can I say - and I think he did this to get out of testifying. He knew Opper would SHRED him on cross. He knew he couldn't handle that but there's no way he was going to waive anything, even his right to testify. One of the sovereign tactics is to claim their rights are being violated and so they refuse to waive anything.
I think he genuinely didn't know sentencing was up to her. That would have required him to both think ahead, and learn something about the legal process. 😝🍍
@Emily 💜 Thank you so much for deciding to cover this trial! I have been wishing for your commentary from the jump. Peter Tragos has been amazing in helping us understand but NOBODY brings the sass like The EDB 💜 Would love to see you two collab, in fact, I'm dying for that!!
Thank you for covering this. I'm glad that Mr Brown's mom didn't testify so I can continue feeling sorry for her. I can't wait for this case to be completed for the residents of Wakosha
She isn't, but she created it and is still out there making excuses for him. She spoke to media talking about "he just blacks out and don't remember". That comes from nowhere?
he has been allowed to return to court room once he stops being disruptive. his access thru the streaming/tele call is more than enough to satisfy his rights (well the rights that he hasn't already waived so far)
I think his behavior today was a super example of “play stupid games, win stupid prizes.” He thought he would be able to screw around and not answer, then she would back down on deeming him rested and on his own testimony. Now he is screaming “i don’t understand” so he can claim he didn’t get a fair trial. I think he is running scared that he won’t be able to manipulate the court or the jury.
I really wanted to see him testify just to get some theory of what happened. Whether he was going to claim a second person was in the car threatening him, or if there was a mechanical failure, or if he had a case of spontaneous blindness. His closing is going to be interesting if he's able to get more than 10 words into it without stepping out of line.
I wanted to see them cross examine him!! They would have really got under his skin. The jury have been shielded from most of his temper tantrums. Let them see him lose his shit!!
I think he really has nothing to say about it. Seems pretty clear that he had temper tantrum and went the wrong way and his only focus was escaping the cops. So he just mowed through innocent people to get away. Sadly. I don’t think it’s deeper than that.
EDB- Thank you from the replay crew for providing time stamps! Some other law tubers do not and, honestly, it's not awesome. 3 hour live stream is great. Same 3 hours on replay are not the same and the time stamps definitely make it better. Also, I wish this judge would just say, "Your objection has been noted for the record. You are free to bring it up in an appeal, but we are moving on."
It's very frustrating to see how lenient she is with him but I admire her for doing it. She is ensuring a) that he's not going to get off on appeal and b) that there won't be a mistrial declared. The victims have suffered enough because of Brooks dragging them in here putting them on the stand. If a mistral is declared, they're all going to have to go through this again. I think this is the judge's main reason for deferring to Brooks as much as she has. She's taking what the victims have had to endure into consideration and ensuring that they won't have to go through this again because of a mistrial. That being said, I'd still like to see her bring the gavel down on him a bit more. She's a better person than I.
I think we need to cut this judge some slack. She is the only one dealing with this and under such scrutiny and pressure. When you think about it, she has very little power. What can she take from or do to Brooks as a punishment? She can’t find him in contempt because that will prolong the trial, she can’t fine him, or threaten him with jail time. He has nothing but time and he is a horribly cruel and selfish person.
I agree completely!!! It's been a difficult trial for her too. She's having to babysit this man and has to keep her records correct throughout this process!!!
It's evident that he was expecting to be exonerated and released. He set his expectations way too high, thinking that his recall argument would somehow contradict the overwhelming evidence against him. His petulance was outrageously offensive towards the victims, acting like he's the one being persecuted. Darrell Brooks only cares about his client.
I can’t wait for the jury to deliver their judgment oh my God. He is so disrespectful so annoying she is so patience she should get a medal for this trial
I’ve been rewatching some of these videos… I caught something I missed when it was live… I’ll have to go back and look at which day it was, but… He’s upset with Judge D, and starts yelling “you’re rushing me to JUDGEMENT!” After the jury convicts him on every count, DA Opper says… (something to the effect) “Judge, will you be moving to Judgment?” And DB is lost… “what is judgement?” He asks! So he didn’t know what he was saying/accusing the Judge of a couple days earlier? (HE IS THE WORST the 2nd time around!!)
Almost had an aneurysm listening to them argue back and forth 💀 "Mr Brooks will you testify" "Am I muted?" "You are not muted" 'Mr Brooks I will ask you again, will you testify?" "Are you aware you are practicing law from the bench?" "Mr Brooks! I will ask you one more time..." "I do not understand the question" "Mr Brooks, let me finish the question" "I do not consent to have my first amendment right violated" "Mr Brooks!" "
Right, so, Darrell "the genius" Brooks makes the argument that as long as he doesn't consent to the jury instructions, that will lead to jury nullification? Brilliant.
He knew darn well his mama wasn’t going to show and he thought that if he wore her down long enough she would show up and lie on the stand for him. Then she would have to tell that she reported her car stolen when she was lying to him saying she didn’t say that. His mama is probably somewhat relieved that she doesn’t have to see him anymore. But it’s sad that both of her children are gone
He’s really exhausting. It wouldn’t be so aggravating if it was clear he wasn’t capable, he isn’t stupid. He knows exactly what he’s doing and that is to make this process a circus
Probably. And hopefully. She needs and deserves support from her fellow jurists. This could have just as easily been them. It's easy to gripe from the sidelines. She is juggling a lot. Thinking ahead And dealing with this type of personality with the tactics he is using is exhausting. It's triggering and confusing.
I think it’s more of the fact that at this point there’s not really much that they can do that would cause a retrial she is still being very careful with what she acknowledges and what she doesn’t what we really need to understand is that she’s trying to protect against a retrial by giving him every opportunity to screw himself over for instance the brilliant move of not holding him in contempt as well as allowing him to have certain outbursts in the presence of the jury
@@ImNotNotAllCityChi I understand about the dangers of an appeal, but the judge must maintain control. Think of the judge during the Blandino trial. For previous judges, he continually interrupted.
