im 5'10 i go against my friend that is 6'6 and every time he block me he called me trash so thank u for the vid heb now i score layups on him and now he dosent call me trash no more thank u heb
GoCryKid YT Slowing down may be an option but if you want to take it to the next level you gotta practice running as fast as you can at the basket and getting the layup. Just go allllloooot softer otherwise it's gonna be too strong
dont throw the ball towards the backboard but instead just kinda throw it up since ur momentum from running fast should be enough to make the ball bounce off the backboard and into the basket.
sometimes it helps to release earlier(at least for me) because my running speed is already enough momentum i am just using my arm to change the direction
Its been 4 years and im still watching ur old videos u made me become a better player because the moves u teach us are new and the coaches im with they dont teach us these moves I appreciate it bro
Droppin' straight knowledge -- all his videos give you the specific nuisances that other don't mention. He not only gives you the "what" but also the "how" and the "why". In addition. he gives you the drill(s) to develop the key skills for each move that he is teaching. Keep up the excellent work.
Coach Howard, I have been watching your videos for a while now, you have been a huge inspiration to me to improve on my basketball skills. I feel I have improved tremendously from when u first started watching your videos. My first real basketball game is tomorrow and I hope I can use what you've taught me to become a good player. So thank you coach for your hard work and grind, keep it up👍👌🏀
Depends if he can penetrate or not, if he's only a spot up I'd follow and get close up on him any chance I get, if he can penetrate I'd sag off a bit keep my centre gravity slightly forward and arms up(not full stretch up)
Step up and shoot man! You can try close range and using the board to get more confidence if you get a chance or get open. Always try to cut and read the defense from the wing, next thing you will start making 3´s. I had a coach like that too back in the days it´s frustrating.
Baller #30 easy i do a size up(between the legs=> behind the back) and cause theyre not that fast i do another crossover to the other side and just pull up from mid
I'm in grade 8 my first game is tomorrow I'm on my school's senior team I'm 5'5 and this is really helpful I'm really glad I found this channel it helps alot.
I'm so glad u mentioned the hop step. 2 more great moves that can get u an easy layup over taller defenders are the euro step and the windmill crossover. I'm surprised u omitted those 2
Reaxch the more u practice the more confidence you gain. if you know u work hard then u have nothing to fear, simple. you gotta tell yourself everyday that u the best player out there. keep working
yooo I just watched your crossover one and scored 27 points my last aau game, before i couldn't get passed defenders but this helped a lot, 227th in NJ
I can tell you right now I got my stamina up by doing what I do at practice we have 2 suicides then make 2 free throws do summaries suicide then shoot free throws till you make one and repeat like 3 times I did that for like 3 days and got in way better shape and at practice I was first in sprints every time and I was a starter my next game
floater off the glass is cool too, especially on the wing sides. just target the upper edge of the small box on the glass, or people call it the soft spot
Yo coach it's true that not many kids use the hop step. I do though and it's really useful. Out of the 3 moves you showed I use all of them but my Hop Step is my most successful. I still work on my floater and contact layup. I'll get better if I go strong with it like you said.
imma shooting guard imma really good spot up shooter from three and finishing but I'm sub par at midrange what are some drills I can use to increase my mid range percentage
start in close and work ur way out to the midrange, and just take a lot of shots, try to get someone to give you passes too so you can go off the catch
or take more shots in practice where you see yourself getting stuck / like you know youre a good shooter if the defense knows that they might start jumping so practice more one dribble pull ups, that creates more spacing for you and as you work on your handle the finsihing will become easier
Anton Baker you have to shoot. if you want to drop 20 points you have to shoot at least 10 times. 7 if they're all 3's. be confident and shoot when you're open.
One of my trainers also said this, he is 6'9 and played D1, and I'm in sixth grade. He told us whoever makes contact first wins, so when we were scrimmaging I went in against a 9th grader(I'm in sixth grade) and made contact first and I made it.
Luke Skywalkwr hes probably not very fast so give him space and then pull up and put it up and your legs in his chest, if he's really big he'll not even flop if you're small
rhythm is key on the floater if practiced enough it'll become second nature the follow thru isn't really necessary let ya momentum move the ball forward and let ya arm extend bet it go through every time when you think about it as a 1 handed running jump shot it may Cause you to start aiming postponing the release giving the defender just enough time to block it or cause you to over/under throw it either hitting the front or the back of the rim when the floater become second nature it's deadly s/o TP
i prefer initiating the contact while i do my 2 steps because you have more control and its easier to finish after that(james harden does this fpr example)

theres other ways of coming into a hop shot, you can set them up or PnR and get by the Ft line, a gather the ball high, while going to the opposite side, of the help defense, for aeasy one
