The ball bearings are standardized and are available at any local bearing parts house.

This just gets more and more interesting. I have one of those one way clutches in with my dismantled gearbox parts and have wondered what it was. I'm going to have to go through it all again and see if i have those bearings and the cage, and who knows what else. I have a complete OD, but I've never taken it apart. I'm hoping it's just a spare

The bearings are cheap, $14 I think? But the cage, good luck finding one lol.

Part of the answer to 'crud' and other stuff in the engine, gearbox, overdrive and differential is to put magnets everywhere!

You're going to love having the overdrive. I was going down the highway last night at about 70 mph in my spitfire and it was only reading about 3k on the tach. Planning for any fun engine mods while you're in there?

Thats what im talking about! I have not really looked much into engine mods, though I do want to get some of those thrust washers you just posted about, and probably a mild road cam. I have a set of dual SU HS2 carbs that I am going to install. Electric ignition system, and maybe an electric fuel pump. Maybe… So some stuff but thats about it. So I guess I have thought about it lol.

Electric fuel pumps are a very good idea with ethanol in the fuel, because ethanol degrades the rubber diaphragms in the mechanical fuel pumps which allow gasoline to find it's way into the engine oil and you can imagine what follows after that!

@@lordleonusa that is good to know! I was thinking more for priming of the carbs after sitting a few days but that is another good reason.

The overdrive doesn't use transmission fluid, it shares the gearbox oil, which is of course EP90, GL-4, never, ever GL-5.

Any good lube will work, BMC stuff at that time used engine oil, non-detergent.
